Kinda defies the point of a feedback thread ;)

Hehe.  Feedback is fine.  I'm sure that's what Harmy wants to see.  It's one thing for people to 'mention' that they personally don't like the rounded corners.  It's another thing for people to go off on some diatribe and start lecturing Harmy about the semantics of a couple of pixels.  :)

Guys, I think he's explained why he did it and keeping the argument going isn't going to change things.  It's called "Harmy's..." edition and he's free to do with it what he wants.  It's the tiniest change that, I agree, most people wouldn't even have noticed if it weren't brought up in the first place.

I watched the WP several times (not completely, just different sections to see how awesome they were now) and never even noticed it.  He's not restoring this so other people can use his version to make their own 'better' ones later on, so that point is moot.  He wasn't commissioned by Disney to do a 100% faithful restoration for mass release to the public where something like this wouldn't be allowed, it's *his* version - for us.

The bottom line is - if you don't like it, don't watch it.  Or better yet, if you don't want rounded corners on the version you watch, I challenge any of you that are arguing this point to roll up your sleeves and try to make a better one.  Simple.  :)

Keep going, H-Man!  Can't wait for the final version to come out so I can buy it.  Oh wait, that's right - it's free.

(P.S. Why are you even looking in the corners anyway?  Watch the damn movie and enjoy it!  LoL)

Not sure if anybody encountered this but when loaded on ipad as mp4 the playback freezes then turns black. the audio track is still going though. It's fine when played on the pc as the same file.

Thank you so much for doing this, it's incredible.

No problem here.  What app are you using to play it with?

I've played it successfully with CineXPlayer and VLC.

There's no time limit and Harmy is working on getting his gear back in order.  I would suggest joining the mailing list to keep up with what's going on.  It's not a monthly one...just one that gets sent out when big releases happen...like the latest Harmy's STAR WARS DE: 2.5 Remastered (AVCHD)

If you don't have an invite to myspleen, just ask...or check in the first post for the latest links.

Use my signature to sign up for the newsletter.

Thanks!

Well, mine was running perfectly until I put in the additional RAM and then it just died completely - it doesn't even beep. I tried every trick in the book but it's just dead. I really hope it's just the motherboard. I'm hoping I will be able to get a new board through warranty but these things can take weeks.

I ordered a thingy to connect internal HDDs through USB, which should arrive today, so that I can try out the HDDs on my laptop and find out if all the data is intact, which is the most important thing.

Ah, a hard drive enclosure.  I've had to use them before.  Probably would be wise to just purchase an external drive to keep everything on, even if it's just for backing things up that you have on your internal drive once a week.  Drives are so cheap these days.

Better yet, I'm not sure what your main drive is, but if you don't have an SSD in there, I would *highly* recommend it...especially for rendering and working with video.  Then you could use whatever regular platter drive(s) you currently have for backups in your new enclosure.

I wasn't trying to argue for or against any particular side with my post. I was just trying to remove concern about hit-and-runners from the discussion while reminding everyone why many members here choose to use a private BitTorrent tracker as their primary distribution mechanism.

Oh no, I understand.  I guess my response was directed more towards those having issues finding it.  It's in enough places by now that getting a copy shouldn't be a problem.

Having said that, there are plenty of people making edits, changes, improvements, etc for every version that's out there that we can't be naive to think that LucasFilm/Disney isn't aware of them...including and especially Harmy's versions.

I'm sure it would be a different story if there were price tags involved and/or people were advertising their versions in online ads across different sites trying to get major exposure...but I think they're letting a lot of it slide only because it's a labor or love...not profit.  That and most edits are pretty much contained here in one spot and not vying for top search engine results across the board.  (thanks kickass, torrentz and piratebay - LoL)

I don't see why it should be surprising that the very same people on a forum to discuss fanedits want to watch said fanedits. I do find it surprising that such a private site is a main distribution mechanism. But I suppose there are a lot of hit-and-runners when it comes to things like this, and any private site would be abused by large swarms of "an-edit fans, while public sites obviously leave uploaders as more accessible targets.

It's not about hit-and-runners and p2p politics.

It's about keeping OT.com alive and reducing the likelihood of receiving a C&D letter. Believe it or not, a few of our members have received such a letter in the past.

Well, it's already been stated above that they can be found on piratebay as well as someone offering usenet access to get them so - I don't see where the problem lies.

Thanks for all the happy birthdays, guys.  I appreciate that.

Having skimmed through all the Nov entries, there's not much going on for this edition.  I was hoping to get it sent out today but the holidays are always busy for us and I still have things I need to get done...so if anyone has anything they'd like to see in the newsletter, let me know.  Maybe when I get a few minutes to sit down and finish it up, I'll try to add whatever you PM me with.

I have all 3 "Making of" enhanced e-books and am able to play all of the media files and view all of the images on my PC.  Not sure if this is what you're wanting or the same as what you have.  Extracted, you just have to click on the html file and it loads everything for you.

For example:
The Making of Stars Wars
Images: 1,438 jpegs = 97 MB
Media: 44 mp4 & mp3 items = 148 MB

Zer0Squared, where does the newsletter get sent to? I should be subscribed already.

It's sent to whoever has signed up to the list and gets sent through MailChimp.  If you're sure you signed up with the right email address, you can check your spam folder or if you're using Gmail I'm told it sometimes goes to one of the other folders (can't remember which one right now.)

PM me your email address and I'll double-check you're on the list.
