Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)

It's not as easy as just synching the sound of the 97SE mix to the DeEd because it has the narration in places where there is no dialogue, including the added bits (but @yoda-sama: it is the '97SE, so most of those changes you mention aren't there) but if you guys want to give it a shot, here you go:

ESB

ROTJ

The bitrate is pretty low but it's the best I managed to find.

Wow - just comparing the ESB 97SE with the 2.0 stereo in ESB v2.0, they're not even the same musical notes during the intro.  The 97 is higher pitched. :P

For ESB and ROTJ it only exists for the 97SE and unlike the commentaries - I have the files, if someone wants to attempt it though and then I'd be happy to include it in the next release.

Someone would need to sync the 97SE sound with the sound on the current DE versions?  If so, I could give that a shot.  I can start with one and then if all goes well, I'll do the second one.

Like many others, I registered just to say thank you to Harmy and the rest of the Original Trilogy users contributing to this effort. Just finished watching ESB v2.0 and I will join the chorus declaring it amazing! As someone who grew up on the original cuts of these films, it is truly heartwarming to see them properly restored to their original state. Thank you for that!

I did have a question thought - still trying to get my hands on Star Wars v2.5. 1.0 looks great, but would love to see the latest version. Is there a torrent available somewhere?

Go to TPB and do a search for 'despecialized'

One of the things that kind of bothered me is having an apostrophe 'S' after the name John Williams.  After researching it, I saw that it could be written and pronounced either way, but the majority showed that it should just be written as Williams'   ...and pronounced just as his name sounds.

The plural of "Williams" should have an "apostrophe s" on the end.  http://www.bartleby.com/141/strunk.html

Yeah, like I said, there are many references that say it can be written different ways.  I'm not going to go dig them up all again, but one is here.

http://www.grammarbook.com/punctuation/apostro.asp
Rule 1c

I'll leave it up to Harmy how he wants it to sound.  I only mentioned it because I was taught the way that I suggested it.

Guys I need help. Ive been downloading the MKV from myspleen but the torrent has stopped at 80.1%. Any suggestions?

 Anybody?

Sorry, I grabbed it from Paradox, but, if you have the bandwidth...it's also available if you do a search for 'harmy' on ThePirateBay.

And if you want the others, search for 'despecialized' on the same site.

OK guys, how's this:

(It's just the new Oscar intro)

Yeah, Harmy.  I think that makes the point even more of just how big SW was when it came out!

Although I don't mind seeing the big Star Wars text zooming out in the center when the music starts, the rest of the crawl kind of floods the screen with too much.  I found myself trying to watch 'around' it to see the happy people at the awards podium.

Since you mention it, there were a couple of lines that struck me a little funny, I'll try to find some time to go through and pick them out.

Same here.  I helped do the English subs for it and had to listen a couple of times at some words that you kind of rushed over quickly, but when I wasn't paying attention to the subs, it sounded great. :)

One of the things that kind of bothered me is having an apostrophe 'S' after the name John Williams.  After researching it, I saw that it could be written and pronounced either way, but the majority showed that it should just be written as Williams'   ...and pronounced just as his name sounds.

Also, there are small areas where there is a 'sucking in' sound when you breathe in that can probably be muted in the recording to help smooth things out.  An example being at 5:45 between the words 'method' and 'used'.

At 6:08, when you pronounce 'aliasing', it should be with more of an 'S' sound instead of a 'Z' sound, with the emphasize just on the first syllable.

Otherwise, wow - great job!!  Very smooth voice!

I've begun the English subtitles, since my job is actually to make subtitles, but English is not my native language, so some proof-reading will be needed. I can take part in the French translation, though.

Beber, if you send me your finished SRT, I'll proof-read it and make corrections for English.  (I correct a lot of my own downloaded subs)

I realize how dangerous it is for 'certain' people to find out about this project, but I have to say... it really makes me proud of Harmy for doing such a great job that it's getting recognition.

Plus, I've said it before, I'd find it hard to believe if those 'certain' people don't already know about it anyway.  I'm just glad that the people that really appreciate it are able to hear about and see it for themselves.

The newsletter itself is up to 1,021 subscribers.  That's 16 more than there were just this morning.

It's also an interesting idea for distributing fan edits if Disney starts coming down hard on them.  Just distribute xdeltas that convert the Blu-rays to the DeEds. Absolutely no infringement.

Someone would upload DeEd to thepiratebay in t=200s

How do you think I found the 1.0's two years ago?  Just go type in 'Despecialized.'

And if you think ESB isn't up yet, type in 'harmy' as well.

NOTE: I didn't upload any of them. :P

Checked out a bit of the mkv this morning and saw one of those things you can't unsee, right before the Wampa pops up and knocks out Luke, you can see a boom mic reflection in the eye wear on top of his head.

LOL. I'm assuming you know this, but that was always there.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080684/goofs#boom_mic_visible

I don't doubt it was an original goof, but I'd certainly never noticed it before (I both love finding boom mics, and dislike how much it takes me out of the illusion).

If you watch closely, you can see the whole crew standing in a line just a couple of seconds before that.

Well, crap - I must have forgotten to add the information about the 93 track in when I was switching out the GOUT track I already had for the file h_h sent me. I guess I will re-upload it but if you've already got it, I'd recommend simply putting it trough MKV Merge and adding the info yourselves, rather than re-downloading. It may be prudent though to take down the spleen torrent for now - I should have the fixed version up on uloz.to within an hour or so.

Is there anything else I could fix, while I'm at it?

Yep, you won, murfmurf.  LoL

Harmy, Track 4 (2.0 1993 LD mix) seems to be broken in the mkv. It doesn't display the title, and it doesn't play on VLC or Plex?

Title doesn't show for me either, but I do get audio using Media Player Classic with k-lite codec pack.

Confirmed - it seems to be the 93 LD as mentioned - but I *am* getting the audio from it as well.

How did you download it so fast if uloz limits downloads to 300 KB/second?

Erm...didn't know I was racing you, murf. :P   But...  congrats, I guess?  LoL

It limits downloads to 300 KB/s, but that's PER file.  I did a Force Download on all the files (in JDownloader) and had it in just under an hour.  It's purti-ful. :)

Do we/should we have an official nominee to submit the .mkv to MySpleen? My home upload speed isn't the greatest so I'm probably not the best candidate, but I wanted to bring up the subject.

Well, I UL'd the AVCHD to Spleen and understand how to do it properly now so, I don't mind doing it again for a smaller file.  I have to send the Newsletter update out anyway so may as well let everyone know when it's up on paradox and that a Spleen version is currently being UL'd.
