John Knoll who was the inspiration for the Special Editions, showing George Lucas how easy it was to create CGI on his Macintosh !
Pics or it didn’t happen!
I mean, for almost the past decade there have been cameras everywhere, a majority of people carries a camera with them all the time (the one that comes attached to your smartphone), and when something extraordinary happens, there’s photos and videos on the net the minute after. Tsunamis, earthquakes, meteors, tornadoes, thyphoons, nuclear accident… All those disasters have been extensively documented. So, where are the photos and videos of UFOs and other extra-terrestrial sightings?..
What about the separation masters, or the technicolor prints ?
Sorry if I missed the joke or the reference… Please explain ? Is it your president tweeting about CGI looking fake ?
?
The CGI look so fake ! It’s awful.
The exploitation of our nostalgia to sell the new movies and shows is a valid criticism. Touché, SilverWook.
But for me it goes even deeper. The Exorcist and Apocalypse Now were both revised and yet we can still view all versions in modern quality. Neither “Episode IV: A New Hope” nor its 1997 special edition won six academy awards in 1978, Star Wars did.
All versions of Close encounters of the third kind, all versions of Blade Runner… (and what about THX1138? I know it’s not Lucasfilm, but still…)
I am looking for a hires version of the cbs box set art. The poster mashup one. And I know CrplHicks uploaded a version of the Vader in the star field, but it has so serious moire pattern on it. Has anyone cleaned it up?
There’s no moire pattern on CrplHicks scan. It’s ultra hi-res, you have to display it at its native resolution.
Rogue two: “many Bothans died to bring us this information”
I stand corrected. But it looks like countless other chrome pin-up robots !
Chrome pin-up robots aren’t Star Wars !
English is not my first language. I’m not able to detect sarcasm. Or express it.
It’s going to be interesting to see just what film elements they end up using as their starting point when the OOT is inevitably restored in the next several years.
And imagine the huge “we told you so” if they wait just a little too long and the original film elements fall apart when they finally touch them.
They have the separation masters, they may even have a pristine interpositive (first generation copy). And film stock from the seventies doesn’t turn to dust, even after 40 years.
They won’t say anything before they are ready to announce it. You don’t ask a question you know they won’t answer !
Remember when the unaltered were released on DVD, George Lucas wasn’t against the release, he was against spending any money on it. It is not his money anymore.
Released 25th of July. To accompany a theatrical re-release ?..
SWCO Battlefront II panel
Battlefront II

The three next to Spock and Kirk are part of the Firefly crew. And aren’t the ones next to the Galactica dudes from Galaxy Quest?
Edit: oojason & Darth Id beat me to it! But who’s Sheridan?!
Thought I’d share, if anyone wants, the Back Album cover of the OST of Star Wars '77 of vader & a star field. I could never find a good one, so I scanned & made one. Have one without text if needed?
There’s a textless version in the book Star Wars Art: Posters. (in fact, all posters in this book are textless)

I’ve got the TFA one, and it’s really quite sturdy. It’s heavy card stock, no need for plastic reinforcement! The discs are housed in slots in the cardboard. And there’s art prints too! One thing I would have preferred is the CD of the soundtrack instead of the DVD (which I have absolutely no use for)
Still waiting for the Rogue One big sleeve edition…

You may want to try Zavvi if you’d like to buy them from outside U.K.
Who is this guy? I didn’t know there were other people in the Vader suit other than the three OT guys.
According to The Making of Return of the Jedi (iBooks edition, page 577) it’s Harold Cole, a stage technician. He is in front of a painted backdrop, and the shot would only include Vader’s hands.
