So my first US gig (also my first solo performance) went pretty well. The nerves receeded once I got on stage and started singing and the songs were all well received, so all in all a pretty good night. I did fluff a few chords on one song but I don't think anyone noticed.

I was at the UK premiere of Battlefield Earth. John Travolta practically apologised for what we were about to see in his pre-movie speech.

I just spoke to my brother who works at Blockbuster Video in England. He told me that interest in the DVDs has been limited to customers who want the OT. He also told me that one customer came back complaining about the quality, saying it looked like they had taken a videotape and stuck it on a DVD, but despite the poor quality he still bought Empire and Jedi because he wants the original versions - just goes to show how George has us by the balls. I told my brother that if anyone else comes in with similar complaints he should direct them to OT.com.

My main concern is my rustiness, but I've been singing all day and it's starting to feel less strained. Hopefully by sunday my vocal chords will be up to the challenge and I can just go out there and do my thing.

I've been asked to fill a 20 minute slot at a venue on Melrose this sunday night and I am absolutely bricking it. What with my move to the States and my prolonged stay in the midwest (which pretty much destroyed my will to live) I have barely picked up my guitar or sung a note in almost 5 months and I'm pretty rusty (your voice is a muscle like any other and needs to be exercised). It will also be the first time I've ever played in America and the first time I've ever climbed on stage by myself without a band or at least one other person to share the ordeal - this is me and a guitar, raw and exposed. Anyone got any tips for preparing for such an event and battling stagefright? I'm looking at you Gaffer.

Tell that to Tommy Chong, recently arrested for selling bongs. Drug paraphernalia is certainly illegal in the U.S. Visit the DEA Web Site for details on what is and what isn't illegal.

Oh yeah, I think you may be right. But I'm sure it was considered and might turn up on a future release. I've heard many PT fanboys (include a few members of this very sight) say they would be in favour of such a change.

Today I watched 'Fandango' starring a young Kevin Costner. It was one of my Dad's favourite movies and he introduced me to it. I have never met anyone who has seen it or even heard of it, and today there it was on HBO, so obviously it's not a forgotten movie, but maybe just a 'slipped from memory' movie. Great film BTW - check it out if you can.
