Hell Yes!! The X-Files is my all time favorite show. I admit it did get kind of hard to follow when it was on TV, and a lot of people were put off, but DVD makes it a lot easier to watch at your leisure and keep track of what's going on. Is it worth my time & money to get involved in the show?
And don't be put off by the first season either - what starts off as basically a monster of the week show gets A LOT better in the later seasons. Sure there are a few dud episodes here and there, but all in all the X-Files was a great show that never jumped the shark IMO.

Same here. I was working in a hospital at the time and one of the doctors learnt about the first plane hitting from his wife on the phone and told the rest of us. We all assumed it was an accident, and the plane was small. My shift ended and I drove home in time to catch the second plane hitting. Like Chaltab, I knew this meant war, and I was just waiting the rest of the day for the announcement from the president. That evening I went to my best friend's house and we watched TV all night then at dawn went out to get the first edition of the national newspaper. I remember everyone saying how much it was like a hollywood movie. Aliens blowing up the white house would have been no more shocking or unreal.I realized that there would be a war that instant. It was Pearl Harbor all over again.

After this prolonged stay in Jamestown, North Dakota I have mixed feelings about the move. Obviously I am pleased to be getting the hell out of here and starting on the path to getting my life back, but at the same time 4 months of being here in a sleepy town with no job and no responsibility makes the thought of heading to L.A. in search of work a daunting and scary concept. The fact that if I don't get a job pronto I will have nowhere to live adds to the pressure. On top of that I am actually slightly sad to be leaving because although the situation (living with the in-laws) sucks, there are people here who I like and will miss. However, dispite all that I wouldn't stay here if you paid me, so all in all I'm pretty happy about going. We'll see how I feel about it in a few months when city life begins to grate... I'm looking at the big city through rose-tinted glasses right now, but when I lived in London there were times I hated it and would have done anything to get out into the country - like they say, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
So there's the YIYF blog entry for today. Next stop: Washington.

Not true. He was very popular in England and today my inbox was full of e-mails from my friends talking back and forth about his death.Originally posted by: Darth Chaltab
I was the one who said he went out like a punk, and I suppose those are strong words - but I really think even he'd have preferred to go out against a giant croc.
Yeah, perhaps, but getting SIMULTANEOUSLY STABBED AND STUNG IN THE HEART is pretty damn hardcore if you ask me. Originally posted by: Yoda Is Your Father
I dunno man... Everyone keeps saying 'of all the things to kill him it was a stingray' as if he went out like some kind of punk. But it's not like he was killed by a garden snail, it was a friggin' stingray! He got stung in the chest by a stingray, man!!
We're not saying a stingray is a 'punk' death, but that it's ironic he spent so much of his life with snakes and crocs, but what ultimately killed him was a totally unrelated animal from a different phylum. I figured if I he ever did get killed by an animal, it would be a snake or croc.

I hate that I just got stung by a wasp that I was in no way aggravating - it just flew up my jeans and stung me on the knee. Bastard.

Exactly. My wife (who is American) didn't even know that the statue was a gift from the French. I thought it was common knowledge (and I am English).Originally posted by: Yoda Is Your Father

How ironic that without the help of France, Washington and his rebellion might have failed, meaning no USA and therefore no Captain America... "You think this A on my head stands for France?!"
