That actually wasn't a bad movie - it was a bit to Americanised for my liking but Paul McGann was pretty good as the Doctor, I liked his look and I also liked how the TARDIS changed with him to have chandeliers and a staircase and stuff.

Nanner, you seem to be on a bit of a doctor who fix trip right now so maybe you should check out the Flash animations that are out there starring Richard E Grant as the doctor. I think they're on the BBC website but you can just google it. They're not bad.

not sure what tl;dr. means but in answer to Dayv's question, if I wasn't here I would probably not be anywhere. I was absent from ot.com for almost a year, I kept in touch with a few members (sort of). It's not the same as it was back when I was an active member (I post rarely these days but I do read it quite frequently) but thing shave picked up lately - less dickheads, better discussions. I've given up on getting a high rank though.

I voted yes. However:

If we are talking about going back in time to alter the Episode 3 script (and therefore the final movie), I would say eliminate Greivous altogether, he was fucking pointless and served no purpose.

But if George said 'No, I really want there to be some kind of cyborg villain in Episode 3 who has 8 arms and shit then in that case I would say 'well let's make him Darth Maul back from the dead' - It ties the episodes together, saves us from the introduction of yet another character, and also suggests that Palpatine was dabbling in cybernetics before Vader. Greivous/Maul would be a prototype for Vader, in a way.

If we are talking about trying to make a fan-edit that converts greivous into a ressurrected Maul I would again say no - I don't think it's do-able.

Actually, I spent a number of months, which is more than I would wish on anybody, in North Dakota, and I have also travelled to every corner of the USA over the past 5 years or so. In fact, I'm pretty sure I have visited (and by visited I don't just mean passed through) more parts of the States than most people, including actual Americans. However, you obviously missed the part of my post that said:

I have met many, many Americans with many different attitudes, both good and bad and would never tar everybody in such a large country with a single brush and I think if you take the time to re-read my original post you will see that that is not what I did. But don't try telling me there isn't a large ignorant and racist contingency in the USA, because I have met them first hand. And yes, there are people like that everywhere (there are certainly people like that in the UK) but I think my comment is still a fair one.

As for Obama getting assasinated, I hadn't even considered it until my friend raised the idea, at which point I recalled some of the things I had seen and heard in places like North Dakota and thought to myself 'hmmm...that could happen'. I doubt it will, and even if someone tried I'm sure he has shit-hot security surrounding him 24/7. But you raise another good point - there's no real need to kill him because there's enough prejudice still around to stop him becoming President simply by voting.

And for the record, I quite like L.A.

Well it's certainly possible. It's also possible that aliens will come and use laser beams on the white house and make the Secretary of Agriculture president. But I don't think it's possible enough to warrant worry. Obama undoubtedly has at least as much security protection as any other of the presidential candidates.



HaHa.. fair point. But I would suggest that the assasination of a man who is potentially on the road to becoming the first ever black President of the USA is slightly more likely than the alien scenario.

I have no idea what C3PX meant by his 'No more fuckin immigrant no matter where they come from' comment.

I was watching the news with a friend and he said he thinks Obama will be assasinated before he can become President. Anyone have an opinion on that?

Having spent a long time with some very bigoted Americans it's definitely a possibility in my opinion. I know you're not all like that by a long shot, but there's definitely a good number of backwards thinking morons with guns running around in that part of the World.
