Empire of Dreams - what was your imagined Star Wars story...
Time
The fact that they're both called skywalker would be a bit of a clue though even if you could find a way to keep it secret till Empire. In fact, why the hell did the Lars/obi wan not change Luke's name for his own protection. In fact, why the hell didn't Obi-wan change his name - calling yourself Ben Kenobi is hardly a foolproof alias - luke put 2 and 2 together quickly enough. And hiding baby luke with Darth Vader's step brother (only living relatives in fact) wasn't too smart either.

I saw a poster yesterday for a new version of Assault On Precinct 13.

I worked for one of the many Post Production companies doing effects for Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and the concept art looked fantastic. Plus Johnny Depp is great so I have high hopes for this movie. Roald Dahl's story's are very wierd and sinister and I think this new film will capture this aspect more than the seventies film.

I remember that episode too. They made a star filled sky by pushing holes into black paper with a pencil, and once they had that the only limit was their imagination.... I think Ralph the paino playing dog was Han. Kermit was obviously Luke and Miss Piggy was Leia. I think their Nanny was Vader....

Ah, Memories. There was an Indiana Jones Muppet Babies episode too.

Yeah, I guess that because I've been a star wars fan since I was a kid, I've kind of built up my own images in my head which don't correspond to the prequels. I imagined Alderaan as a literally weaponless planet, totally peaceful, totally hippy, and that made their destruction even worse, pus I imagined Anakin literally hunting down and destroying the jedi one by one (like an assasin) as Obi Wan descrbes in a new hope. I think a lot of the appeal of Star Wars was just that - the mystery, the backstory, the myths that you could ponder and create. It added a hugeness to the galaxy in which they live becasue everything was NOT explained. I liked that.

Basically, let's build a tie machine and deliver Rebel11_38's synopsis to Lucas circa 1985, along with a signed certificate stating that we will not sue or claim any money etc for the story rights and he can call it his own, so that he makes that prequel, and he makes it in the late 80s so there's no CG.

I used to think that he might make a prequel which featured a middle aged Annakin and he would use Mark Hamill as the actor, but by 1999 that was obviously not gonna happen.

I still like the Star Wars Kids idea. I'm thinking Muppet Babies with lightsabers. Who's with me?

Spidernap DVD Covers
Time
Sorry for starting a whole new thread just for this, but it seemed to be the best way to get everyone's attention and maybe get a result. Does anyone have the Spidernap original trilogy DVD covers, the ones that look like the prequel DVDs? They were the best I've seen and I can't find them anywhere (High Res). Thanks.

Well, I suspect money is the answer to why they made Rocky 2, but as for satisfying endings, Rocky didn't actually win at the end of Rocky, so Rocky 2 was the rematch, and he did win.

And yeah, Boskk, I love that training scene too, and the music rocks. In Rocky 3 they had a similar scene but it was Rocky who was taking shortcuts in his training and posing for the camera while Mr.T was doing it hardcore.

That came out wrong. I meant he was doing some hardcore training...

If I was making a Vader suit for the disfigured and crippled Anakin with legs that are bigger and stronger than the originals, I would have stuck a few blasters on the shoulders and a built in lightsaber in each hand. And seeing as Vader never done the force lightning trick, I'm assuming he can't, so I woulda stuck some kind of lightning gun or something on there too. And knives and sharp sticks.

Appropriate that the Holiday special came up in a 'should never have been made' thread. If the Holiday special is Canon, do you think we'll see Itchy and Lumpy in E3? Itchy and lumpy...Geez...

Beverley Hills Cop 3 should not have been made.

I actually went to the UK premiere of Battlefield Earth (my friend got tickets, can't remember how) and Travolta and the director practically apologised before the movie.
