It is like the makers of this Film need Film-making 101.

And obviously you don't which is why they asked you to direct the new Trek and all those other great films you've done.

I have taking Film, CGI animation and photo classes in collage. Both me and my wife work in media and know allot about it.

Having glare in mostly every shot is a no-no in film-making.

also having over blur in every shot of CGI animation is no-no in CGI animation.

You,"Yoda Is Your Father" don't know what you are talking about or to who.

the Hollywood of today is not about the art of film-making, but is really about who is your Family is or you are sleeping with or who you know. the real Hollywood is not like the fake Hollywood show on shows in E.T.

Actually I have a batchelors degree in Animation and, until moving into advertising, I worked for a huge vfx company in London. Troy, Harry Potter, Batman Begins, Narnia, V for Vendetta, Hitchhiker's Guide, Casino Royale, The Golden Compass = just a few of the films I have worked on.

So... er... I do know what I'm talking about.  I just don't hate films before I've seen them nor do I think I'm better than everybody else who is actually out there doing it.

Clearly JJ is evil.  He obviously knew exactly when Majel Barrett was going to die.  In fact, it's pretty clear to me that he killed her.

Assholes.

Is anyone else getting tired of seeing that shit on TV, the net, and in print? How many damn lists need to be compiled? A great way to use stock footage, but other than that...useless.

Totally hearing ya, Sage.  That shit is all over the TV in the UK - except we get top 50 lists!!  For example, The Top 50 worst TV moments (I swear to God I am not making this up).

Wolverine: X-men origins - Trailer

But man, all that screaming and whistling would seriously piss me off if I was in that cinema. I've never, ever been to see a film where the crowd acts like that. Must be an American thing. We Brits are much more reserved!! :)

The first time I saw the Rocky Balboa trailer was in a cinema in LA - the whole crowd started cheering and chanting 'ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY!'

Well funny.

Hang on a sec

Look mate, just cos you got a beef with the way JJ is treating Star Trek, doesn't mean that it wont be an enjoyable movie for the average Joe, which if I'm not mistaken, is who it's aimed for.

I don't think it would matter to you who makes a new Trek film, all you fanboys (and I don't mean that in a disrespectful way) are going to bitch and moan about something or other, it's just the way it is. Just look at the way the PT got criticised. No one is ever going to make the movie you want to see. It'll never be right for you.

But for me, to answer your question the best way I can without being 'dumb' is simple.

I just want to see a great big sci-fi epic, that'll keep me interested in the story, hopefully make me laugh, and most importantly, just be a bloody enjoyable film. What more do you want from a movie.

I want the lights on the spaceship to be blue like they should be!!! How can they seriously expect us to believe that a starship can reach warp speed without blue lights?!!! It's ridiculous!!!  I hate JJ!!!!

P.S. Note sarcasm.

P.P.S. I am a star wars fan and I hate the prequels and SE, so I can understand where you guys are coming from... but seriously.. chill out.

Is it just me or is Simon Pegg the Jar Jar of JJ Trek. "I like this ship it is exciting".  Awful.

I know. I really like Simon Pegg, at first I thought the idea of him playing Scotty was a bit odd, he just doesn't seem to fit, but then when I got used to the idea I thought it would be pretty cool. Now that I have heard him speak in the trailer... uh... err... must... reserve... judgment... until... release date... arrrg...

Simon Pegg sucks.  Spaced was great, so was Shawn of the Dead, but now he's just annoying.  In England if you say 'Simon Pegg' people groan.  It will be this way in America before long too.

Am I the only one who's excited for this new movie?  And who actually really likes the new Enterprise design?

Remember, this is supposed to be a reboot, is it not?  Or am I mistaken on that?

That is probably the one thing that bugs me the most about this movie, this thing is a "sort-of" reboot, but in the past they have hesitated to actually call it a reboot. That is why they have Nimoy to play Spock and make this a time travel thing. I would have much rather this thing be a full out reboot, forgetting all that has happened up until now, instead of using time travel as a way to make it a sequel and a reboot at once. If they wanted Nimoy in the film, a cameo as Spock's dad or an older Vulcan teacher at the academy would have been cool. They could have included Shatner in the film in this manner as well.

Totally agree.  I did not want to see Judi Dench in Casino Royale of rthe same reason.

Attention: all you "audio snobs" who hate MP3!

p.s. "Yoday Is Your Father", I totally agree with you! It's a pitty but it's true: Music has become disposable.

But the death of the record store is not what i'm worried about. It's mostly the death of the used CD shop - that is scary! I could name dozens of artists I love today that I discovered through used 2$ cds, tapes & even LPs picked up from used record stores, hand-me-downs, garage sales or pawn shops and the disapearance of this part of the market is really a tragedy for our future musical heritage.  Music is now deletable.

A great point that I hadn't considered - and sadly very true :(

What I hate about MP3 is not the loss of sound quality (there definitely is one, but it's acceptable in my opinion) but rather the way that music has become so disposeable as a result.  Downloading, often illegally, has become so commonplace and easy that just as my generation (I am 27, born in '81) has forgotten the wonders of a vinyl LP (luckily for me my parents passed on their love) I fear that later generations will not understand the feeling of going to the ecord store on release day to buy a CD, flick through the booklet on the way home, put the disk in the player and finally press play for the first time.  These days you just download, listen, get bored, skip.  I myself have tons of albums on my ipod that I have rarely or never listened too - music has become cheap and disposeable.

I hope this rant makes sense.  I am into my music big time so I might just be chatting traditionalist rubbish (although I am by no means anti-technology, I love computers and all that good stuff - I downloaded my first MP3 in 1996 and thought it was awesome, it's just that now downloading has become the norm I don't like the way it's going).

We F'ed up the petition

Oh puhlease!  We should not have to micromanage the freaking petition!  If Lucas doesn't know how to do a proper release of a DVD in 2006, then he needs to gtfo of the movie business period!  Nobody should have to tell the freaking director that he needs to remaster the film, clean it up, put on the proper audio, yada blah etc.  No director in their right mind would take a freaking laserdisc master from 1993, throw it on a DVD, and sell it in 2006.  And there's the problem.  George Lucas is not in his right mind.  Not anymore.

We didn't f'up a damn thing.  Lucas is f'ing things up just fine on his own.

I wholeheartedly agree and could no have put it better myself.
