The Beatles used some outrageous chord changes far beyond 1-4-5.
Maybe their early stuff was 3 chords, but later on their songwriting developed to amazingly complicated heights.
Off topic I know, but hey.

The guy was innocent. In the current climate, if I saw a bunch of plain clothes guys running towards me with guns at a train station, I would fucking run for my life too! And once they had tackled him to the ground, surely handcuffs would suffice. Unless he had his finger on a detonator, which he didn't.
And I am not going to get into the oil thing, but let me say this - I am Wite and British, born and bred, both my parents are also white and British, but, I can admit that if you go back throughout history, the west has shit all over these people and we are not innocent. I personally have not shit on the east, but my ancestors have. My ancestors shit all over the native Americans, they shit all over the Australian aborigines and they shit all over the islamic people. It doesn't excuse these bombers, nothing does, but are hands are not clean - even Ken Livingstone, the mayor of London, has made statements similar to the one I just made. Kick a dog long enough and he's gonna bite.

If they are gonna start shooting tanned people on the underground, I guess I better not sit out in the sun too long when I go on holiday. I would expect to hear a story like this in 1990's L.A, not London.

As opposed to being compared to those (us - the West) who bomb cities and kill innocent civilians with bombs from planes at great heights?

And before Aeroplanes were invented, we would go over with swords - Crusades anyone?
Personally, I don't agree with waging war on me, my family and my city because of something that happened in the past, just like I think that the Irish should get over Northern Ireland. In the words of Ghandi, an eye for an eye will make everyone blind, my my point is that in their minds they have a point. This is revenge, just as the war on iraq is revenge for 9/11, no matter how America wants to sugar coat it.

P.S Before anyone starts calling me names, I am not an America hater - my wife is American and we are currently in the process of relocating to the U.S.A. What I am is an open minded person who can read history books.

Well, they do it to get their point across. I don't agree with it, but it sure has got people discussing their P.O.V hasn't it?
We can argue all day over who is to blame, etc etc. I don't think it even matters who is to blame anymore. What Ric said about both sides being the bad guys is absolutely hitting the nail on the head. The bottom line is, this whole sorry mess sucks and I can't think of any way to fix it apart from letting mankind destroy itself and hope that whoever picks up the pieces will do a better job of running the planet than we have. War on terror – how can you wage war on a noun?

Not to get off topic, but this comment irritates me. I'm not sure if this is sarcasm, but incase it is, for your information the Beatles were wildly inventive with their song structure and chord changes.

P.S Thanks for the info ADigitalMan, my mistake. I remember the Blake illustrations from my youth.

I got a bus, which took 2 and a half hours. But they're attacking buses too so there's still an element of risk I guess. Oh well, the tube was working again today so I'm back at work... I get the feeling that these second incidents were just a bunch of amatuer wannabes trying to get in on the act on the 2 week anniversary of the first lot, you know, trying to ride the wave. Dickheads.

You know, I think that in 100 years or whatever, the history books will look at this period of time (2001 to present) as the start of WW3. It's different to previous wars, but still a global war all the same. It's like a semi-cold war. A warm war!!

Please don't judge everyone on these boards by these two guys, they've always been...odd.

Hey!! Apart from my Jedikev assaults, I don't think I've been all that odd on these boards.

It may be a crude post, but it's true. I hate it too.

I also hate the fact that I took my car, affectionately referred to as 'The Falcon' to have some bodywork done and they done a totally crap job that I could have done better myself and now I am arguing on the phone with them trying to make them fix it.

In fact, I hate mechanics.

No offfense to all the honest and professional mechanics out there.

I am writing a story but I am a bit stumped on a plot point. Basically, an evil spirit opens up a portal between dimensions and manipulates/tricks a race of creatures into attacking mankind. The thing is, later on in the story we find out that these creatures are actually good, smart individuals, in fact they are more mentally and spritually evolved than us, but if that is the case, why would they allow themselves to be tricked into a war? They are basically Yoda-like in their way of thinking, and I can't see Yoda embarking on an attack on a whole civilisation on the advise of another person, even if that person is a powerful and convincing spirit. So does anyone have any ideas? The creatures need to attack, it's a key part of the story, but the reader also needs to retain sympathy for them later on and understand that they are not to blame for their actions. I considered having the spirit possess them and control their bodies during battle, which seemed to solve the problem, but then I thought why doesn't the spirit just possess the humans in the first place instead of possessing the creatures to attack the humans...
Anyway, not sure that made sense, but any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance

NEWS FLASH

It's 2 weeks since the terror attacks and we are getting breaking news of more explosions on the underground and a bus. Certain lines have been evacuated and suspended and it looks like I'm stranded in central London for the time being.

Batman and Robin have been notified and are on their way.

I made that last bit up (Wishful thinking I guess) but the rest is true. I work in the heart of London and Police sirens are going crazy outside as the emergency services put the emergency plan into action.

I much prefer the slightly creepy and ominous drawings of the older editions.

The illustrator of the original artwork is a man called Quentin Blake. This is the first I have heard of his illustrations being replaced and I am disgusted. Blake illustarted all of dahl's books.
And what? Now the pygmies are white and fanciful? I am white. are they calling me a pygmy? are they saying I am fanciful just because I'm white? Goddam racists.

And as for King Kong, while I'm not against the remake, the original Harryhausen Kong was a breakthrough in animation and without pioneering movies like that CGI etc would not exist, so back off the original Kong and show him some love.

Oh, so you are saying that the President actuallt ends up fighting the rebellion alongside the Empire?
That is not obvious and I didn't guess it. In fact, I expected that he would join with the rebellion to defeat the Empire. But him joining the dark side (and maybe later redeeming himself and realising that war does not make one great) is much better, IMO.
