MANGLER BROS., INC. IS NOW CLOSED HERE
Time
Attention all members!

A few days ago PSYCHO_DAYV bought something to our attention.

As some of you might know, Rikter’s daughter has had quite a few health problems, and the bills have skyrocketed. It would be great if all of us could send him anywhere from $5-$10 each. I know that it doesn't sound like much, but together it could be a great blessing to him and his family.

I have volunteered to be the middle-man in this little Christmas present for Rikter, so if anybody is interested, they can donate via Paypal to me at ‘mattfitch at hot mail dotcom’ and i will forward the total to Rik on behalf of his friends at OT.com and send him a little spark of hope.

The thing is, I'm going away for the holidays, so there will have to be a deadline for donations, say December 21st? That gives us exactly one week to get all the donations in. I’m sure Rikter has helped many of you in the past to obtain dvds, etc, so now’s a great time to return the favour, and spread a little Christmas cheer.

thanks,

Yoda Is Your Father

P.S I would ask that anyone who donates writes their OT.com username and ‘Rikter’ in the notes of their paypal payment so that I know what the payment is for and who it’s from, and I promise I won’t run off with the money

P.P.S Obviously we are trying to keep this a secret, so try not to discuss it anywhere but here or the Long Bridge Club thread, both of whoich Rikter has never posted in and therefore can be assumed safe.

Should Stanley Tookie Williams have been executed?
Time
I am against the death penalty. However, this guy was convicted of a crime in a court of law and recieved a sentence. What he done agter, no matter how good, should not affect that sentence. This was a bad dude who done bad things and made the world a worse place. Whatevr he did after to try and make up for it, good for him, but that shouldn't mean he should be let off. Like I said, I don't believe in the death penalty, but that's not the point.

Widescreen doesn't have it. Fullscreen does, and has the commentary.

what a dumb*** DVD. Why in god's name do you have the song in the Fullscreen version and not in the Widescreen? That makes no sense at all.

Yes it does: So that people will buy both versions and the studios will make more $$$$.

Both versions are on the same disc, Adam, it's just that the full screen version includes the song and commentary, and the widescreen version (on side B of the disc, I assume) does not include the song or commentary. So if you want to hear the song or the commentary, you have to put up with full screen. Kinda crappy, but not too bad I guess. When a company puts both versions on one disc, I don't think you can accuse them of seeing dollar signs. We'll save that accusation for next christmas, when they release a revised special edition which includes the song in widescreen...

Best movies of 05
Time
Everyone seems to have a hard-on for 'The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe' (or THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, EPISODE ONE .™©®, as the marketing guys at Disney seem to prefer), but, as a fan of the books, it seems to me like nothing more than a LOTR cash-in/rip-off. I could be wrong and I hope I am (I am yet to see it) but it really just seems like they have taken a classic book and knocked out a quick action/fantasy/holiday season movie guaranteed to sell Happy Meals. A female friend of mine who is not really big on movies was even under the impression that it was 'by the same guy who done Lord of the Rings'.

P.S Jaster, even though I don't feel as strongly about it as you do, I didn't think Batman Begins was the best thing since sliced bread that everybody else does. It was ok, pretty good actually, but it didn't blow me away in any department.

guys, I totally dig what you are doing with this edit, but all this talk of a Maul/Grievous rebuilding scene is making me worry that it's going to turn out like the scene in the Simpsons where they try to re-edit the radioactive man movie to hide the fact that Milhouse quit halfway through filming.

Editing the 6 movies into a flowing saga is one thing, rewriting them is another. I like the idea of Grievous as Maul and wish it was so, but I'm not sure it can be pulled off as a cut and paste job.

The Great One: Chuck Norris
Time
Mr T. and Chuck Norris decided to spar. Using their combined greatness, they travelled to the only safe place in the Universe to conduct their bout, the beginning of time. They bowed to each other and Chuck launched in with a roundhouse kick which Mr. T blocked. The resulting pressure wave is commonly called the Big Bang.

They continued their battle, and Mr.T punched Chuck Norris at the exact moment he roundhouse kicked Mr.T in the chest. the result was the 80's.

Nah, they show whatever will shock and get ratings. Sometimes it is reality, sometimes it's hyped up bullshit. Whatever the case, you can be certain you're never getting the whole picture, you are getting a tailored version. Anyone seen that DeNiro movie '15 minutes'? It's a pretty poor movie (what the hell happened to DeNiro anyway? He seems to be making a whole load of straight to video garbage lately). Anyway, even though it's quite a lame film, I think it emphasises my point about the media quite well.

Why's that Rik?
Personally, I agree with Jay and realise I am guilty as charged, so I am abstaining from stupid argumants and debates that go round and round in circles, which basically means the whole General Star Wars section.

obi wans name in ANH
Time
The answer is because when ANH was made, Lucas didn't have the idea that vader was really Anakin skywalker yet, so there was no need fopr Owen to give Luke a new name because there was no threat. Then, between ANH and ESB, Lucas had this idea of Vader being Luke's dad, which created the question of why Luke's uncle never thought to change Luke's surname. As for ObiWan's piss poor alias, I have no explanation. Personally, I believe that Ben was his real name and ObiWan was a name given to him by the Jedi. Of course, that idea has been destroyed by the prequels, but I don't watch the prequels so it's ok.

Nah, you apply it to any super cool icon you want. For example - The last man who made eye contact with Mr. T was Ray Charles, Every time a church bell rings, Mr. T pities a fool, Mr. T invented fools. Realizing the magnitude of his folly, he then created Pity, There are only four horsemen of the apocalypse, because Mr. T is going to walk, etc.

Possibly in the city centre, but not in the area I live. If that was the case the fucks who robbed my bro would be caught by now.
