The Things We Hate And Love Thread .

I'm 75% with Warbler in that I agree with what he's saying but don't think we need to go all totalitarian. I personally HATE it when a good conversation is killed dead by some idiot butting in with nothing better to say than 'I concur' or a smiley face.

I've been waiting for someone to post that Mohammed Cartoon. I agree with Both Sybe and Stinky - I understand the anger but the response is an over-raction or worse - an excuse for violence.

REMEMBER WHEN AWK GOT BANNED ???

Good times.
I guess my biggest claim to fame is Noel Gallagher of Oasis. They were my no-1 band growing up so to meet him, and actually shake his hand and chat with him was pretty cool. I've met the whole band since then but meeting him when I was 16 was great. I've got other claims to fame but none I can be bothered to mention, and none that beat Dayv's Nirvana story.

THERE'S NO WAY THAT YOUR STORY BEATS MINE.
No. But Ricardo's story was pretty fucking awesome.

Sounds good to me!
Yeah but when I flame trolls I usually get told to ignore tham and let them be. Personally I'm all for telling them to go f**k themselves, but when I'm the only one doing it, it doesn't have the desired affect. I need back-up, people!!

Yeah, I think he should see out his sentence in England (btw, Belmarsh prison is famous for being a horrible, horrible place) and then get extradited the day before his release and let the Americans have their way with him too.

I done a google search to try and find some more info about the tria, etc, and I stumbled across this, which irritated me no end:

Annoying

Part of me is glad I live in a civilised country that protects people's rights, even those, shall we say 'questionable' members of society, but part of me wants to scream. I'm sure that as a lawyer Gundark can understand the conflicted feelings.

True. Well, I like to talk a lot, and have a lot to say. I don't dispute that you like to talk, but the latter part of your statement is a matter of opinion.

well i officially dropped the chem class today. now there is a big stupid ugly DR on my transcript.
Don't worry about it - none of that stuff means ANYTHING in the real world. I have 10 GCSEs (roughly equivalent to your High School Diploma), 4 A-Levels (which is similar to what you guys call a degree), A BTEC Diploma, which I don't think you have an equivalent of (I guess it's also like what you guys call a degree), and A batchelors degree (with honours). The most useful and relevant test I ever took was my driving test. So don't sweat it.

Best Animated Feature Oscar Noms: Who should win?

Disney's animated entry this year, Chicken Run, was very very 'meh'. I *did* see it in the theater but only because I happened to be near a digital projection theater showing it in 3D. I'm a 3D geek and is WAS some amazingly clear 3D. But I essentially forgot the film when I walked out of the theater. Seriously- I think I forgot about it *entirely*. And that's scary!

Do you mean Chicken Little? That looks extremely 'Meh'.

I'm getting really sick of animated film makers thinking all they need to do is throw in a few weak pop-culture references and recreate a few classic film scenes with a 'comedy' twist. It takes more than that, so much more.

Remeber that year when Jimmy Neutron was nominated? WTF? There must have been just 3 animated films made that whole year.

Disney doesn't even make proper 2d animated movies anymore, so I'm not surprised they haven't been nominated. Straight to DVD sequels that cheapen your company's reputation don't count (and certainly aren't oscar worthy). Disney is no longer an innovative entertainment studio - they are a soulless corporation. Uncle Walt is turning in his grave.
