The GC is actually a great system with some incredible games, I agree. If I had to do a top 10 of current-gen console games, the majority would be GC games. But I also think Iwata is running the company into the ground. Yeah, the DS is moderately successful, and we still have to see about GB Micro, but (IMO) Revolution will undoubtedly be their last console. Too many idiotic decisions being made for it not to happen.

War of the Worlds
Time
I really liked WOTW. I'll admit it's far from perfect, but still rather enjoyable. It's close to being the most visually stunning movie I've ever seen, if not tops. The introduction of the first tripod and the horn it blasts was really f'ing cool. Also, I was somewhat surprised at the amount of restraint Spielberg used. It didn't seem overly Spielberg-ized like his recent outings, which I hated. I didn't like the story holes, the ending was very anti-climactic, and the movie sort of takes a dive when Tim Robbins shows up, but still, it didn't ruin the experience for me. Yeah, the film misfires on a few levels, but it also does some things I've never seen before. And it's far better than a lot of other stuff I've seen recently.

I haven't watched a SW movie since midnight ROTS
Time
Just me being somewhat confused. I sort of hate the prequels, although I have a fondness for TPM and love "Balance"...but I absolutely HATED Attack of the Clones. Initially, I sort of liked ROTS, but as time passes since my one viewing, I think less and less of it. Actually, I never intended to see it because I thought of it's impact on how i would view the OT. So I thought I'd take some time off. Maybe after a few months I could see if it helped or hampered my view of the OT, and perhaps if it hampered taking time off would help. Just wondering where everyone else stands. Any thoughts, or questions, or derragotory would be appreciated.

Does Tarkin know that the Emperor is a Sithlord?

Like he did with Palpatine? You know, the guy who was more powerful to begin with? Sorry, but your logic is becoming circular. Vader followed Tarkin's orders, and reported to him several times throughout ANH. You are more than welcome to read more into the all you want, but Vader is clearly under the command of a mere human.

You haven't proved that Vader doesn't see Tarkin as any more than a subordintate. So, acording to your logic, if in between Ep III and the end of ANH, (hypothetically) the Emperor were to die of a heart attack, you're thinking is that Tarkin would become Emperor and Vader would still sit there all the while thinking: yes I could force choke this dude, and yes I an the 'chosen one, but I better not since Palps liked him? Correct?

Like he did with Tarkin?

But who's to say Vader wouldn't have taken out Tarkin if not for the Emperor's fondness for Tarkin? Seems to me that there is animosity between Tarkin and Vader, and that Tarkin is able to say the things he does because he knows the Emperor has his back.

I think Tarkin knows Palps is a Sith lord. When he says, "You, my friend, are all that's left of that ancient religion" - I consider him to be using the collective you, meaning Vader and Palps both. Also, considering how powerful Vader is, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume (if you worked for the empire) that Palps must be more powerful than Vader? Why would Vader, with all his abilities, play second fiddle to some ordinary man?

ROTS: Palpatine's Diatribe
Time
IMHO, it was intended that Mace 'beat' Palpatine. Samuel L. Jackson was quoted numerous times that his only request to GL (other than the purple lightsaber) was that he "didn't want to go out like some punk" in Ep III, which means he defeats Palpatine only to have Anakin and Palps team up on him. I also believe that Palps' disfigurement was strictly from the lightning being deflected back. What I don't understand was his voice fluctuating, because he uses his ROTJ voice in all his transmissions and whatnot throughout the PT.

I agree with this 100%. The Ewoks themselves don't bother me. It's that the pacing of ROTJ really hits a wall on Endor once they are introduced.

I just hate it that companies like Nintendo and Insomniac work like crazy to make great games only to have them outsold by the Halo's and GTAs, which while good games, only sell because of their subject matter. Metroid Prime was at least as good as the first Halo but the sales were nowhere close. Same with GTA and Wind Waker. Or Rachet and Clank against Jak and Daxter.

I like Nintendo as much as anyone, believe me. But what you said is simplifying the scenario. Success doesn't revolve around 3 or 4 great fanchises. That's Nintendo's WHOLE problem which seems to be totally lost on people. Sony understands this. Microsoft understands this. Third party support is key, and if you look at the GC, they (3rd parties) fled from it like the plague, due to Nintendo's idiotic marketing policies. Sorry Chaltab, but but 75% of gamers aren't 6-15-year olds looking for party games.

Episode 3: Fan Editing Ideas Discussion
Time
I think there are some instances that could be improved through fan editing. Although it depends on the music and whatnot, which GL probable made hard fan edit around. Anyway, obvious things

-The droid stuff at the beginning with R2 could be changed (at least the voices)

-Get rid of the damn explaining everything. (an example is Anakin telling us about the spherical droids on Obi-Wan's fighter) We don't need any more Ric Ollies.

-Obviously find away to modify Grievous, even if it means deleting most of his scenes.

-get rid of midichlorians. So what if we don't know where Anakin comes from? The alternative isn't any better.

Then there's things I would do:

Make Anakin's character less confused. I know that Anakin was supposed to be skating the fence on who to trust, but it was somewhat poorly done. I think there is enough material to make him more one-sided (both before and after he learns Palp's true colors) by deleting certain stuff. At least make it 75/25 instead of 50/50. To me, it never seemed that Anakin fully turned to the darkside, there were certain scenes that were contradictory and/or ambiguous. One example is his regret of helping to take out Mace. Cut this. Basically just streamline the Palpatine manipulation machine on Anakin and focus primarily on the promise of saving Padme, and less on politics. That way there's more of an impact of him turning to the darkside

-Cut some of the fast-cuts during the battle scenes. The were overdone. Slow things down a little.

-Delete the "she's physically fine, she just lost the will to live" line

I would even go as far as to severly trim down the Yoda v. Palps scene (while also putting it before the Anakin v. Obi-Wan duel). At least make Yoda seem like he is winning. I say this because I don't understand why Palps sees the need for Vader after the end of the movie, if there's no threat (virtually no Jedi and no rebellion yet). If he sees Yoda as more powerful, perhaps he knows he needs Vader's help.

Again, these might not be possible, but it just seems with some selective cuts things could be more concise.
