The Clone Wars: Refocused [COMPLETE] + Subtitles for season one!

S07E01-04 - Bad Batch Arc - Unsure

You’d lose a little character dev for the Bad Batch but they’re not really the focus unless they’re getting their own show, in which case they’ll repilot anyway.

Even if they do repilot (I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the unproduced Kashyyyk arc to be bumped into the new show), they are not going to explain in great detail how did Echo end up with the Bad Batch and why he’s in the state he’s in. But then again, I hold the Citadel arch in a much higher regard than you seem to do, so I might be biased.

Yeah, that sounds great. I don’t see a huge problem with the earlier Mandalore episodes being mostly political. It is a slow build-up, but eventually it starts to deliver as it slowly but surely leads into the epic final arc. Maul (and thus Ventress) is absolutely crucial to Ahsoka’s story, even if she isn’t a prominent character every step of the way.

EDIT: Maybe if you want more Ahsoka, you could intercut the Nightsisters arc with A Friend In Need or something? Just throwing this out there, not sure if it would work.

Regarding the Citadel Arch’s Excludable status:
Not sure if you’ve taken into account that this is where the clonetrooper Echo is left behind presumed dead to reappear in the Bad Batch Arch (and possibly the upcoming animated series). Fives, who is the star of the Order 66 Arch, also makes an appearance here. Up to this point they are the last surviving members of the Domino Squad, who feature prominently in some of the previous stories.

While I’m not replying I am finding myself jumping into this thread multiple times a day because I am enjoying your thought process here. I think this is a great approach.

One question regarding to Geonosis arc - I really liked how Smudger interlaced the events with Anakin on the planet with Ahsoka and Barris on the ship. I think it was one of his most effective examples of making two episodes flow as one. Is that something you are considering here?

+1 on both accounts

Wow - you are fast, lol. I did an edit to my original post with a 2Pac instrumental suggestion.

Also, can’t go wrong with Beastie Boys. Imagine ‘Intergalatic’ or ‘Sabotage’ playing when young Obi-Wan & Anakin enter the bar in AOTC to find the shape shifting assassin.

If I think of something else I’ll let you know. I any case, looking forward to what you come up with.

Intergalactic needs to be in there somewhere.

<strong>Ahsoka</strong> (live action series) - general discussion thread

A big disappointment I realize I had with her Rebels appearances is that she was actually really boring there? Every Jedi that wasn’t Obi-Wan or Anakin essentially had the same personality as one another in TCW, and Ahsoka seemed to become that to Ezra. Your basic older mentor figure. Which as an Ahsoka fan was disappointing. I get that she was supposed to have matured, but they really didn’t do anything with her “I’m no Jedi” thing. She was a Jedi in every way, and they couldn’t even come up with a pedantic reason why she wasn’t. She just wasn’t, I guess.

I wish they had come up with a more interesting personality and arc for adult Ahsoka, is all. The most interesting stuff to come out of what they did do, was her dealing with the fallout of Anakin’s turn - but that pretty much writes itself anyway. And they still did the bare minimum: Ahsoka is sad, Ahsoka has regrets. Even Eckstein’s performance was pointedly less expressive and more matronly.

The problem with Rebels is that the new original characters are simply not all that good or interesting. If they put Ahsoka upfront and fleshed her out a bit more, she would easily steal the whole show. This is probably why Vader and Tarkin are missing from seasons 3 and 4.

<strong>The Mandalorian</strong> - a general discussion thread - * <em><strong>SPOILERS</strong></em> *
Time

Bo-Katan was supposed to be around Obi-Wan’s age and he’s been dead for about ten years at this point. Also, Boba Fett should be around Din’s age yet he seemed to be much older in Chapter 9 (assuming that’s not actually Rex we saw). It doesn’t bother me all that much but I did notice that too. I suppose falling into the sarlac takes it’s toll and Mandalorians tend to age slower than most humans.

What's your take on Emperor Palpatine being brought back for The Rise of Skywalker?
Time

Dark Empire is so much better than TROS. It is perfectly understandable why DE was always such a controversial story, but hey, at least it is aware that it is putting forward some preposterous ideas and it tries to make it work. And it does work for some audiences, doesn’t quite work for others. Not sure who TROS works for.

While I do agree that the guy from the video can be pretty annoying at some points, I’m not sure why that’s such an issue. In that seven minute segment he presents an interesting production detail that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere on this site or the rest of internet for that matter (did a quick google search). I wanted to post it here because I thought TROS faneditors might want to take this matter into account. If they don’t, that’s cool too.

The one problem I have with it is that the events of the first “take” are utterly nonsensical. It happens very fast, so I’m sure most viewers wouldn’t notice (I sure didn’t), but what is it with those blaster bolts ricocheting all over the place? It really seems like somebody having a laugh.

I agree. TLJ may have been a very mixed movie, but at least Rian had the courage to tell the story he wanted to tell. Both of JJ’s movies have just been 2 hours of responding to fan complaints, and they feel soulless because of it. I wish Rian directed the whole trilogy.

Personally I would have preferred someone with better feel for the Star Wars lore, but I’ll absolutely take Rian’s singular vision over that of three different guys that don’t talk to each other.

This is a great example of why it was so stupid for JJ and co. to try to appease the fans. The fans have already made up their minds. You can try to fight something like the “Mary Sue” label, but people will just reinterpret anything to make it fit their narrative. Might as well continue forward with the character as written rather than try to make those happy who will always find some way to complain.

It’s also very stupid to constantly seek validation from fans online. So what if I don’t like some of the narrative decisions they made. They should have still tried to make the best out of it. They should have the balls to stand behind their own decisions. With TROS they just went out of their way to try and address everything you could possibly read online about the sequel trilogy. That goes at the expense of coherent storytelling.

I didn’t like TLJ but at least I could respect it for what it was apparently trying to do. TROS is just pathetic.

Am I the only one who feels Rey Palpatine is far more compelling than “Rey nobody”?

Should have been Rey Skywalker from the get-go. But they just had to do the mystery box thing, because then your narrative ideas don’t get so easily challenged right away.

Rey nobody is the second best, though.
