***The "Darth Editous" Episode IV DVD Info and Feedback Thread*** - a partially "de-specialed" DVD
Time
I like the idea of asteroids interfering with the signal, but then again Vader did tell his crew to move out of the field so that wouldn't happen.

Rivel's subtle over-emphasis on certain words much like Jone's Vader and of course the one and only Ian Mcdirmad from RotJ SHOULD have been emulated for the new ESB scene but wasn't to my surprised. Ian pulled a Portman and phoned it in from Israel or wherever. I remember the Yes... Yesss...., not brilliant stuff, but effective none-the less in making this character seem mysterious and creepy as he should. The new, flat, "yes, yes, can it be done", bla bla bla well... it's not the same. *wahh*

No worries. He'll probably get a cg upgrade for the next release anyway, just like that $hitty jabba cartoon in ANH. Lucas doesn't give a warm goblet of fire about high quality concerning the films that made him a billionaire as long as people keep buying up these 'unfinished' independent films. Lol.

Your Favorite Star Wars Film

The originals versions are what I'm talking about.

And I choose ANH for its unyielding creative energy in all aspects, fx, performances, editing, everything. It's fast, fun, funny, and mystically appealing until midichlorians came about. It's a great movie. I give it my highest recommendation. Check it out if you haven't already. Unliked the newer batch, the performances are so relaxed, so convincing, that you hardly think of it as a film... everyone's so sincere except han. Everyone's cast perfectly, and the editing is superbly done to make everything feel just right, with no loose strings attached. Story begins, story ends... the perfect package. It's the movie's energy, which I think many fan-edits aspire to have, that keeps you glued from start to finish. I feel highly exausted though pleased with its conclusion after watching ANH. I feel curious about what happens next after watching the somewhat cliffhanger conclusion to ESB. I'm somewhat nonplused, but nevertheless satsified after watching RotJ. I'm honestly confused after watching the PT, but glad to have experienced more of ilm and john william's impressive work.

ANH for president. Yeeehaaahh

Yeah, I was watching ESB the other day with my aunt and she asked "So how does Luke feel that Dagobah is familar since he's never been there." I told her to ignore the prequals because they only raise more questions than they answer. Lucas could have easily film a scene where Obi-Wan and baby Luke are making a quick stop off at the planet for Yoda. But no, not Lucas. That wouldn't fit in with his "vision" or whatever the hell that really is.

Are you f**king kidding me?!! Do you guys want a scene showing everything? You never see an imperial throwing anything in teh garbage, yet the death star has a trash compactor. Why is n't there a scene to show a stormtrooper throwing something in the trash? You never see Han Solo take a dump, maybe Lucas should have filmed a scene to fill that hole. Luke's actual statement was 'Still... there's something familiar about this place. I feel like... I don't know...like we're being watched' . This is Luke f**cking skywalker, man!! He's strong in the force and the presence of the greatest Jedi Knight ever made him feel something that he couldn't quite place his finger on. That's it. Leave it alone for God's sake!! Even if Luke had not been around Yoda at birth (which he was) I would still not find Luke's familiar feeling comment strange.

If you guys wanna pick at Plot holes, you'll be here forever because, I don't know if anyone has told you but *whispers* the prequels are crap. If you want backstory, watch the prequel teaser trailers, then stick the OT in and watch a proper Star Wars film.

After seeing that A Lost Hope Rots spoof, I don't ever want to see a star wars character pee on anything, ever, again. Ever.

Why are we the ones that have to fill in the blanks? Essential blanks too...

Things the PT was supposed to reveal, but didn't:

Why palpatine looks like a walking corpse. Tell me why and you get a free ipod. Just the movies, not the literature.

Why some jedi vanish at death and others do not.

threepio's leg (no big deal, but we learn he's luke's brother so what the hell...)

why's leia a princess? I'm 'guessing' senator organa might be the plow king

Why leia remembers her mommy and Luke don't have a clue about her.

The familiar feeling on dagobah (though even I admit it's probably him sensing yoda's pressence.)

Things we discover in the pT that have NO BUSINESS BEING REVEALED TO US:

Jar jar's pretty much responsible for the birth of the empire

Chewie and Yoda were once good pals (wtf!!!!)

All jedi who aren't the 'cool' ones can't fight worth a damn.

r2 is rambo and can fly

Threepio and Luke are brothers

Yoda kept his little discovery about immortality to himself until all the jedi were practically extinct. good job.

Vader doesn't like sand, it's coarse and rough and irritating, and it gets EVERYWHERE.

yes, obi-wan beat vader because he was standing on 'higher ground' Just forget all that crazy crap we saw in tpm with quigon, maul, and obiwan flying all over the place, not giving a damn who has the higher anything.

fudge it. I don't know what to think anymore.

Ot good, PT bad. Ot good Pt bad. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

ROTS Extras: CGI TPM Yoda

Expectations weren't too high. The trailers were just too good. TPM's lightsaber fight is the only thing in that film that I'd put a genuine star wars stamp on. The rest is.... is star trek disguised as star wars. Excluding the only star trek I really like, the original of course.

edit: You know, It's really hard to see Star Wars as Art anymore when your wearing it on your ass or brushing your teeth with it... that's just my view. It's a bonafide cultural phenomenon. That ought to count for something, imo.

It's so brilliant, it's crazy. Wait, strike that. Reverse it.

That's a hell of a project and would be pretty cool, like the Revenge of the Sith teaser's flashback to the PT, which was excellent, I tell you.

It'd probably be really cool. The only thing standing against it might be the secret to immortality being fumbled and left unresolved in Sith. We know that yoda, obiwan, quigon, and Anakin ultimately reach oneness with the force, but not a hair of how they do it. And that's an issue it seems lucas will take with him to the grave unless he has more changes in store for ep 3.

As an addition to what you've already mentioned, how about inserting a quick flashback to Obiwan on the "high ground" when we see Luke flip up to that walkway away from Vader. Then it'll be somewhat of a surprise to see Vader just chuck his saber at Luke rather than jump up there to lose his limbs again. No, I'm not being serious.

Maybe to those who care to think about who those people were or remembered the deleted scene. The whole love story was a mixed bag, but this scene I thought was somewhat better than the rest. It's not the best scene thanks to portman phoning it in (I hate her), granted. But it shows us who this Padme chick is and whether she has conflicted feelings for anakin, or atleast hints at it more than that fire-side shakespear-lite... uh... thing (I also can't believe this part falls under the '30s and 40s cliche' excuse but I'm no expert on that sort of thing, or anything really). I'll say it. I truly, deeply, love this scene compared to the rest, whether it's essential to the story or not. Come on... First they're rolling all over the windows xp wallpaper fields and then Padme just invites Annie to dinner and a warm conversation by a romantic fire while wearing a sexy dominatrix outfit? Friends my ass. This woman's practically begging for him to go against his jedi teachings. Obi-wan was wrong. Anakin was seduced by the force of the Padme, not the dark side.

Watching in order 1-6 is screwing up the original SW for newcomers!
Time
What I think the OT will forever have over the PT is that it told it's story, the entire thing, within its trilogy 'warts and all'; it has a strong beginning and a satisfying enough conclusion. The PT doesn't. It alludes again and again to stories of grand clone war battles and captured chancellors that we never get to see unless you watch cartoon network or play star wars battlfront, available for purchase at your local dvd and video game retailer *wink*.

Phantom Menace was a waste... The lightsaber fights, music, fx all brilliant, but the story was an unfocused mess. Who's the main protagonist? Quigon, Obiwan, Anakin, Amidallalalalallalalala, Panakakakakakakaka, R2? The world may never know. maybe it's jar jar. That terrible movie introduced star wars, (which I'll admit had its share of sophmoric humor thanks to han solo), to the gutter of bad humor: fart jokes, poop jokes, groin smashing etc... was all that garbage necessary? Midichlorians? Hello!? mcfly!

Waste, waste, waste, waste.

Why does Rots feel so rushed? Because eps 1 and 2 were a waste. For me Clone wars 1 and 2 are eps 1 and 2 forever. They may not be as straight forward, boring, full of midichlorians, and fart jokes as the films, but they have more to do with what was stated about that particular time from obiwan to luke than ep 1 and 2 ever will. And another thing. Why not give rots room to breathe. everything just feels a little too clumped together without much natural progression from one thing to the next. it's already the only pg-13 Star Wars movie, why not the longest of the bunch as well? I'd have enjoyed an extra hour of jedi massacre or Empire building if that's the case; or maybe touch upon that whole immortality thing just a smidge more...

Oh yeah, and the OT space battles don't give me a nose bleed. CW-1-2 then 3 Battlefront 501st journals. Then SW 4-6 That's my way and it's arzome. But don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)

How's everything on the dubbing side? I can't begin to imagine the difficulty in getting the slaughter confession just right. That was one of Hayden's better acted scenes (He actually displays emotion and it didn't feel awkward to watch). *I* must confess that I'm super eager to see what you've done with it since it probably requires a little more intensity performance-wise. Think about the last time you were really angry... That might help?

"I feel cold... [whisper]DEATH[/whisper]..."
Time
"That cave..."

The mystery of the cave in esb remains a mystery unless you're into EU. The PT didn't do its job and reveal all the juicy backstory of the OT in all its 6+ hours of cgi demos and toy commercials. So does anyone have any theories about the dark-side cave in ESB? I have a little one...

I just heard the word "death" from Luke after watching OCP's classic edition of ESB at full volume (it's one low whisper) and it made me do a double-take. I had to rewind...oops I mean, reverse the video stream or re-read the sector, or whatever it is nowadays. Before, I thought he said the part about feeling cold and nothing more. This leads me to wonder: Is the dark side of the force created by death?

That'd be pretty cool.

This Movie must be stopped!!!!
Time
I wouldn't call Jaws a popcorn kiddie flick, but yeah, Lucas and Spielberg practically created the Summer Blockbuster which is still a popular thing today. I don't think the amount of crap movies we've been getting from hollywood lately can be blamed solely on them though (maybe just lucas), nor are we in as big a cinematic hole, not after so many good movies have come out of peter jackson. Of course, every other movie has to be a sequel to something these days... so view that as you will...

Idea: for an edit of Batman Begins
Time
I guess that would be interesting, as well as aid in building continuity from a Burtonized Begins to the first good batman movies with the late porkins... eating sandwhiches and getting shot, what a guy, just can't stay alive in these movies. Seriously though, anything with teh scarecrow that got deleted needs to be wedged into someone's edit if that's ever done.

I want more crow. He has gas.
