There’s a hair that got stuck in the gate that I can’t take my eyes off of. It only bothers me because I know it’s not supposed to be there.
EDIT: It’s only for a short period of time during the battle of Endor.
Big fan of your work as you know DrDre, so I’m looking forward to seeing how you go with this.
Am I correct in my recollection that the 1997 SE was timed to George Lucas’ Tech IB print of the original '77 Star Wars? I know the Laserdisc and VHS releases of the '97 SE are in no way representative of the colours seen in the cinema, so I’m curious as to how similar the pre-2004 SE is to the original grading.
That’s what it was timed to, but that doesn’t mean it’s an exact replica of the colors. And yeah, the home video versions have a shit-ton of pink in them, through they’re still leaps and bounds better than the god-awful 2004/2011 colors.
Team Negative One v1 (LPP) vs Team Negative One v2 (Technicolor):
Looks great! Could someone post the Blu Ray frame as well?
Here you go: Bluray vs Team Negative One 2.0
Wow. There’s a lot more detail in the Tech print than I thought. That’s impressive!
Honestly I haven’t actually sat down and watched the BD since I bought it like four years ago so I had forgotten haha. Thank you for letting me know though
Hwy, that’s more than me. I’ve only actually watched ROTS on Blu Ray.
Anyone know where I can find this in higher quality? I’d like to use it as a bumper along with the THX logo at the beginning of the discs.
Not to sound like an ass, but the BD itself has it, if I remember correctly. You would have to rip it or have someone rip it, though.

(Ed note: my girls have seen all three Despecialized and L8wrtr’s version of I and II)
You mean you didn’t use your edits?
The matte line in front of the moon in 81? If it’s there, I don’t see it in that image.
That’s what I’m getting at.
That’s a very good question that I don’t know the answer to. Anybody know for sure? It’s hard to tell on my laserdisc transfer. I’m pretty sure the elements were reconposited in 81, but I’m not sure if the matte line was there or not. If not I can paint it out for the final version.
Looks that way: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/+DrewStewart/albums/5514974191245813441/5537299919619902914?pid=5537299919619902914&oid=102542760950977079734
Wasn’t that matte line only in the '77 version?
Oh, also, if you open these two in separate tabs and switch between them, you can very nicely see that the matte painting was recomposited in the '04 (or maybe '97) version:

http://s3.picsurge.com/rrGUtW/Sequence 01.00_05_32_10.Still008.jpgI will later probably post some comparisons between the raw LPP scan, the Grindhouse color correction and the v2.5 35mm shots.
I don’t think it’s a recomp, I think they just painted out the harsh edge on the right, since you can still see some edge on the left. That’s something I’ve never noticed before, though! Really cool to see.
You’re definitely getting some artifacting and crushed details there, but it’s a step in the right direction.
HAHA! Finally I have all of the elements of the flyover isolated in After Effects! Does anybody have any idea what would be the best source to pull the '81 starfield from? I’m thinking a laserdisc transfer with levels adjusted to improve the contrast between the stars and space, but does anybody know of a transfer with the stars relatively clear? I did a test with the X0 transfer that was recently posted to Myspleen but during the pandown they do this strange smearing thing, and once levels are adjusted, a lot of the stars disappear into black.
Any ideas?
Maybe you could see if the stars are salvageable in TN-1’s partial clip from the silver screen edition. There’s got to be some in there. Alternatively, you can see if there’s a usable shot from Empire’s starfield that you could use.
Just got finished watching it. Everything looks great! This one holds up much better than SW 2.5 and ESB 2.0. Excellent work! I did notice a little warping occasional damage when the 35mm footage was on screen, but it’s nothing that really detracts from the film. It would probably be better if I watched it on my TV rather than 1 foot away from my monitor though. I couldn’t spot the GOUT shot. Where is it at?
One note: if you’re counting the fireworks shot as warping, that’s what the original composite does for some reason.
No, it’s mostly earlier in the movie. I really noticed it with Obi Wan’s ghost ans on the bridge of the Star Destroyer. Like I said though, I watched this on my computer. I probably wouldn’t have noticed it watching on my TV. It didn’t ruin the experience or anything.
Did ALL 70mm prints have the different ending? No matter what quality, I’d love to see at least that!
As far as we know. This and the soundtracks are the reason a 70mm print would be so useful.

My first time watching for a drop release. When does it normally hit places like myspleen and tehparadox? Thanks so much Harmy…been refreshing all day. 😃
When someone downloads it from wherever Harmy uploads it to then uploads it themselves. So it just depends on how long it takes them to download it, really.
I’m getting a 403 error when I try to look at the changes gallery. Is this not up yet?
It will be ready when it’s ready - rushing this would only lead to unnecessary mistakes and re-uploads.
I can definitely say that the release will happen today, at least for America - in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, it may be tomorrow (It’s probably already tomorrow in Asia and Australia 😄 ).Here are the final versions of the NFOs:

I’m guessing Grindhouse will come a little while after 2.5? Not in any rush, just curious.
Hi, I know of at least 1 TV show that had different retail vs rental DVD versions where the rental version had more extras. What releases have exclusives to their rental versions? Thank you.
Star Wars was originally a rental exclusive, but I’m sure that’s not what you’re looking for.
He’s been saying it’s a kid’s movie since at least the 1992 box set.
92??? He said it before the dang movie came out in 1977!!
Note the fact that I said “at least”. I’ve also not been too involved in this thread because of the huge walls of text.

Too many invite requests from people who’ve just signed up.
Least surprising thing in this thread.
This is why I don’t just say “Hey PM me for an invite.” Stick to a case-by-case basis.
