It will all probably be available in a Blu Ray set in 5 years.

That looks gorgeous even before cleanup! It’s remarkable how much detail is in this print.
At about the same time another trooper’s mic clicks on, so that may be what you’re hearing. None of the sound mixes use SE audio, so it wouldn’t need to be taken out.
Hi there, just thought I’d post something I noticed.
At around the 30-31 minute (forget the specific time) mark of the TFA Blu-Ray, there is a close-up of BB-8 fleeing with Rey and Finn, headed for the Falcon.
Now in the theatrical version BB-8 makes a little “bleep bloop” noise, this is completely absent from the Blu Ray version.
This is the only change I’ve picked up so far but I highly doubt it’s the only one. That means that once again, no matter how minor, we have another Star Wars film edited from its original format for the home video release.
The company and staff may change, but the tradition never will :’)
It’s still in theaters if you really want to double check it.
EDIT: Also, shouldn’t this be in general discussions?
Work on getting better, that’s what’s important right now.
Looks like the original Star Trek episode “The Light Of Zetar” is sold on eBay. Who’s going to preserve that print?
How the hell is an interpositive in public hands ???
Looks like it was sold by the studio.
I do agree that summer 2017 would be nearly the perfect time to do some kind of theatrical release of the OOT.
I think before/alongside Rogue One would be the perfect time. A re-release won’t steal any of RO’s thunder, but it could perhaps draw some skeptical older fans into the theaters. In particular, a RO/STAR WARS marathon could be awesome.
The problem with that is that they would have had to be working on a restoration for some time now in order to have it ready on time, which is certainly a possibility. But if they decide to use mike vertas restoration, they still could, but it means they’d probably pair it with subpar restorations of empire and Jedi. I doubt they’d release SW in any way other than alongside the rest of the trilogy. Unless they’re planning to do one a year.
Even sub-par restorations of Empire and Jedi are better than what we have and would even be mildly acceptable.
Hey Althor, have you captured the “For those who remember… one last time” trailer that’s on the Star Wars Faces ld’s? Looking for a high quality version of that for a project I’m working on.
I don’t know about any other region, but in the US, that trailer was only on the VHS Faces release, not the LD.
Cleaned and colour corrected! http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/165754
I think you need a little more practice with the cloning tool. Also try using adjacent frames for clean up, and be a little more conservative on the sharpening. Color looks good though. Good effort.
Out of all the ones I’ve seen, these look the best to me. I can’t speak towards its authenticity as well as others, but to me this looks correct.
Ever so slightly off topic, I like things to match :p so I created a bluray cover for the soon to be relased The Force Awakens bluray to match look of the set.
That looks great! The only thing I don’t like is the “Digital HD” banner. Mostly for nit-picky reasons.
IMGBurn.
Wow Fink. I think your kids may be autistic.
No matter the misdeeds I do in life I at least know I could never stoop that low. Thanks for proving that I’m not as bad of a person as I make myself out to be.
Anywho…Frink I’d love for you to do this with AOTC. TPM would just put them to sleep 😉
I’d love to see him do this with his Ridiculous edits. Or make a commentary track out of it 😃
Wow Fink. I think your kids may be autistic.
Also just fuck you in general.

I worked with various teams on trying to reconstruct various missing Dr Who stories, and while that is very hard stuff to do well, it would be peanuts compared to what Harmy has done.
Really? I’d think that would be harder, since so much footage is actually lost, unlike Star Wars, where much of the footage was just low-quality.
SSE technically isn’t unless you mux a different audio track, though.
Would this help (click picture for full size)?
That’s very unsettling.

Bluray regraded:
This looks better. He looks less painted and less flat.
Even so, wouldn’t it be possible to shoot open matte and IMAX, so that the non-IMAX can be cropped to IMAX ratio?
Hell, I would watch an entire film in the full IMAX ratio, even at home if given the chance and the photography warranted it.
Just throwing this out there, but I like the SSE explosions 😃
Maybe that’s why Owen looks so off to me. Could you try it on that shot at the dinner table?

It actually unintentionally very closely matches an unfaded still I found on the web, so I’m pretty confident the color grading is accurate:
It’s not the color that’s the problem, there’s just something about his face that looks artificial. Something that’s not present in that still.
Owen still looks weird, sort of like he’s a painting.
Has anything happened with The Lion King?
I know it was mentioned on page 1, but 35 pages is a lot to wade through… I also found an old post for it specifically, but nothing of substance.
That was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I was kinda broken-hearted when I heard it’d been altered/censored in re-releases.
I’m not even sure of the actual changes myself, but I believe some things removed were: a dust cloud when the lions ‘get it on’, the “sex”/“sfx” written in stars, while a couple of the death scenes were altered… Not to mention reanimation and (i believe) added characters/songs.
They replaced some alligators that looked like some painting. You can see the original in an Elton John music video.
Alright, this stuff is uploaded. Thanks again for the support. Enjoy!
Thanks to Catbus and all others involved with the audio mixes, for supplying the most up to date dub tracks. And of course for Project Threepio. MKV format releases have a fixed Castilian audio track as well as Russian, Ukranian, Thai, and Navajo dubs (in addition to the tracks in 2.5)
Looking forward to this.
