I think it would be most likely that we’d get one big set with tons of special features with the 2011 cuts and OUT. Alongside that, we would get individual two disc releases with the two cuts, and then a barebones release that just has the two cuts.

It’s mostly nostalgia for me. TPM was the second move I ever saw in theaters. I also have a very distinct memory of eating Taco Bell nachos and seeing advertisements for the film there. One I can get a decent quality version of the theatrical version, and the weather is right, I’m getting me some nachos and watching the shit out of this.
I think it’s just time to admit that we didn’t get screwed over with the TFA Blu Ray. Sorry everybody.

I meant mostly transfer wise. But yeah, the deleted scenes and trailers are sorely missed, and it could really use a commentary track.
Can anyone explain why VHS copies of BTAB (and other Disney animated classics) are being listed on Ebay at insanely high prices these days? They can’t possibly be that rare!
Ebay’s not the best for VHS. You’re better off looking at thrift shops. If you’re in the US, Goodwill almost always has Disney VHSs.
Could we get a screenshot of the theatrical exclusive shots? I’m just curious how well they ended up resolving in 1080p.
You may be able to find snippents without music hear and there. I know the Blu Ray special features have at least a little bit without music. You may also be able to isolate the effects and dialogue, but it may not sound very good. You should make your own thread and keep us updated!

GOUT is literally what we would have gotten if DVDs existed in 1995, so in terms of offical releases, I’d go with that.
It’s what we would have gotten in like 1998 had it been released, save for the Lego Star Wars demo.
The recently released official Celebration itinerary has the screening listed as “Star Wars: A New Hope”. All that can really be inferred from that is that they want to be consistent with TFA’s downplaying of the episode numbers, but the fact that Disney isn’t squeamish about switching around the title of a film from before they acquired LFL gives me a small amount of hope that they’d be willing to walk back more the extreme Lucasisms in the future.
Related to all this (in that, I wonder what is even available for them to play at the event), does anyone know what version of the OT was played in those theatrical marathons when TFA released? I’ve been wondering if it was fairly new DCPs for the 2011 versions, or if they still have to theatrically distribute the '97 SEs.
They were DCP’s of the 2011 version, but somehow looked worse than the Blu-ray, my source tells me.
They probably just don’t resolve well blown up that large. They were telecined at just under 1080p, so blowing them up to like 40 feet across or whatever probably just didn’t work out too well. Another good reason why we need at least a new master, though Legacy would be preferable.

We are almost done with both Empire and Jedi and we decided to redo ANH, so when I release these I will do all 3 at the same time, the reason to redo ANH is to add subs and I think we want to change up the menu a wee bit.
