Just out of curiosity, is ESB Sanitized still happening? Or is the Team Blu work the focus for the time being?

-1 was the only person working on “ESB Sanitized”. I don’t know if he has finished it yet or not, but I’m pretty sure that the OT community is not at the top of his Christmas list, so I would look to Team Blu for the next ESB release…

I’m surprised it wasn’t cancelled all together. Thanks for the info!

The GOUT subs has the crawl in all the languages so I bet it could be synched into these as well as the Vader and Emperor talk in ESB and removing the abominable “Wesa free!” at the end of ROTJ if it’s in the subs. If there are any other differences I forgot please inform us. 😃

Luke’s scream in ESB is 97 exclusive.

Just curious if anyone is working on a 4.1 channel audio for this?

Harry-Hen created a 5.1 track that emulates the 6 channel surround. You can find that and mux it in, as they’re both GOUT synced. Not one has made a 4.1 track, most likely since it’s not that common. (I do realize that the 6 track is essentially 4.1/4.2)

It is a bit of a pain (though, I actually think it is acceptable in conversation to simplify it to episode 4), but overall it is worth calling it by its original name of Star Wars to show we are not ignorant of the true history of the film; much like it is easier to say “Han shot first” when it is really “Han shot Greedo… period”, and both are confusions brought to us by Lucas’ endless tinkering… Case in point, I guess.

With me, I mostly call it Star Wars out of pretentiousness 😃

I do agree with avoiding the use of “Han shot first” for the sake of accuracy, but it is something of a cultural rallying cry, so I can accept that.

So I’ve got something… I’ve got a few .idx files, .sub files, and one .srt file. Here’s the Drive link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6s_4U0K-xHScUVFalBrUjBNbUE

If for some reason they happen to be better than Althor’s (though I doubt it) I will do ESB and ROTJ.

Can you try PgcDemux? subtitle files are just 1 file for each language.

That’s what it appears to be here. I’ll try again only if Althor’s don’t work.

Wow, this whole generational issue must be a much bigger deal in the US. I feel justified in going back to the already off topic numbering convo, because it’s so much more on topic than the last page. I’m 25 and I never got the saga numbering. When I was a kid I ignored it, it annoyed me when I was a teen and it just baffles me now. It’s a tonally unnecessary effort to reverse engineer some cohesion between two tonally incompatible trilogies. We didn’t need the numbers to understand the chronology and no-one I know refers to them by number. Now you can see why they like it because LucasFilm can refer to episode IX even though it doesn’t have a name, and it can be hyped in the press. But I have to say the only fan edit I would accept on a restoration would be to take the V and VI out of the Empire/Jedi crawls.

I’m 23 and grew up referring to even the OT as the episode numbers. I was a kid so I didn’t know better. It also made more sense to me for placing them in with the prequels, which I used to love. I have now seen the error of my ways, but I can accept the idea that you’re catching up in the middle of the story with Star Wars. If the only issue with an official OUT release was the 81 crawl (or hell, even the 97 crawl) then I really wouldn’t be in an uproar about it, especially since this community exists and would create a replacement version within a matter of days.

My point is it left us ill-prepared for the world. When you are incapable of actually doing anything, there’s not much you can do. I’m going to generalize here, but in my high school, we were given absolutely no vocational training. I still barely know how to do my taxes. Practical things like that were not taught to us since that’s not related to reading, writing, or math. Or classes only focused on typically academic subjects, ignoring practicality. Basically, we weren’t taught anything that cannot be tested for. add that on top of the shit we were left with and is any surprise that there’s not anything we can do?

I would check with Catbus. Though if there’s a quick and easy way to do it, I have the DVDs on hand.

Cool, but looks like other Countries may have more subs then we have on our US DVD’s, are you in US? I mean we need those to but we could use the others as well lol.

I am. Let me pop them into my computer really quick and see if I can come up with anything.

EDIT: If all else fails, I did personally create an SRT file for Star Wars, and with some patience could come up with one for Jedi.

EDIT 2: Disregard that last statement, that’s just alien subs.

That doesn’t sound particularly neutral- it’s an extremely biased point of view. This “everybody wins” thing has begun to fall by the wayside. That was a big thing of the 90’s and 00’s, and we have begun to learn from it (we as in a collective society, not as in my generation). You also have to look at what we’re stuck with, what we’ve inherited from previous generations: wealth inequality, a shrinking middle class, climate change, extreme debt (be it the US nationally, or through student loans), No Child Left Behind and Common Core, wages that don’t reflect necessity, and I’m sure I could come up with more if I thought about it for a while longer. The mentalities that we were brought up with have affected our attitudes in a life-long way. Blaming us for our own upbringing is insulting and ignorant.

I think it’s a little unfair to blame us for this.

Which is why you’re a Pesky Whipper-Snapper.

We get blamed for everything. I’ve gotten used to it by now. I also use a Chrome extension that changes every instance of the word “millennial” to “pesky whipper-snapper”, exposing our feelings towards older generations using it as a derogatory term. An older generation, mind you, that is largely to blame for their own complaints against us.
