It looks a little too red this time. It looks the best when his saber is slightly orange.

Looks pretty good! The text at the beginning moves too fast though so it’s a little hard to read.,
I still get comment notifications from this three year old article where salty “fans” still go to whine about Disney and how they’ve ruined Star Wars.
Just because they don’t like what’s happening doesn’t mean they’re not fans.
I"m more thinking along the lines of playing a standard 3D video in a VR headset with no head-tracking or accelerometer or any of that. Just a screen in front of your eyes. My preference will always be 2D, though.
3D is the best with VR goggles. I can’t stand glasses 3D because you have to stare directly at the screen and can’t fidget at all, but with VR you can move however you want.
Here is what I’m talking about for those who don’t know:

Speaking on the Fox and Disney matter, while Fox definitely still has distribution rights, it would seem that Disney outright owns the others at this point. This is evidenced by the digital releases and the 2015 repackaging of the complete saga, which only lists Star Wars as “20th Century Fox Presents Star Wars: A New Hope”.
I think at this point they’d be more inclined to release each trilogy separately.

TeamBlu is about to release their scans of the 1997 SE of the original trilogy.
Have they posted a new update or are you just guessing? I’m honestly curious, I’ve been very excited about it.
So you live in TFN.
Haha, I never actually ventured there, and I don’t think I will!
As much as we bitch about them, do they even know we exist?
Quick, someone upload a video with Empire 2.0! If it gets taken down by Disney, that CONFIRMS that they’re releasing the theatrical cuts!
Side note: don’t actually do this.
Basically, here is the problem. There are scenes in each of those versions that are not available in HD. All three exist as SE broadcast captures and on LD. Most of each made it thorugh the the DVD and Blu-ray releases unchanged, but several scenes needed to complete the HD versions are missing. Some scenes that were later updated in the DVD or Blu-ray releases could be pulled form the 35mm scans of the theatrical versions, but some scenes were updated in 97 and then changed again for the DVD/Blu-ray version and to make an accurate version you would have to upscale the SD source. That does not yield acceptable results. Especially if you are after a full 1080p version. And not only are those scenes lower quality, but they are also cropped differently (with loss of image on all sides) meaning you either have to crop the entire movie to match or do something to compensate. I also would like to see these, but until someone has their hands on 35 mm prints of these versions and is willing to scan the scenes that are unique to those versions, this cannot be done in 1080p.
That’s really only the case with Jedi and TPM. Everything needed for Empire is available, all that’s needed is someone to do it.
Just did a quick look over this. Looks great!
I believe color correction is done at the inter negative stage.
2.7 is a color corrected 2.5, if I remember correctly.
It also has some GOUT shots replaced with 35mm.
For me personally, it depends on the film. For a new hope, the original gout or despecialized editions are best. It shows the original Star Wars film how it was originally intended to be. For empire, I prefer the blue ray 2011 release. I think most of the changes and edits that have been made to empire were mostly understandable and didn’t really change the film too much, so in this case, I watch empire in whichever edit has the best resolution. For return of the Jedi, I usually watch the original gout or despecialized. I wasn’t a fan of the edits that came with the re-releases (retarded sarlaac, darth Vaders “noo”) so for rotj, I take the same approach as a new hope.
I wouldn’t recommend using the word “retarded” around here.
Any chance you could post the image? I’d like to see it but I don’t want to download it unless I know what I’m getting first.
I like those. Good and simple, no extra information.
Can you imagine how bad the lyrics to a song titled “Jedi Rocks” must be? I’ll bet even in-universe, that song is a ridiculed joke.
Well, “Hoola wang-tang” are words that exist in English to some degree.
The Library of Congress has not selected Return of the Jedi for preservation.
Just to make sure people know, but SSE 1.6 and Jedi Grindhouse are GOUT synced.SSE uses a few Blu Ray frames and Jedi has some black frames. The black frames are noticeable, but don’t ruin the experience. For SSE, unless you know exactly where the BD frames are, you will not notice them.
My preference for each:
Star Wars: SSE 1.6. It’s 1080p and 100% the theatrical version.
Empire: Grindhouse, for the same reason as Star Wars. However, its colors aren’t very good and it’s not GOUT synced, and it’s super beat up.
Jedi: Grindhouse, for the same reason as the other two. Despecialized 2.5 is a great choice too.
TPM: I mostly watch the DVD version, but there’s also the Laserdisc.
AOTC: DVD
ROTS: DVD
After seeing Rogue One once (Rogue Once?):
ESB
SW
TFA
ROTJ
R1
TPM
ROTS
AOTC
My guess is that it’s the SE, and that if something is happening, it will be announced in May
I have doubts that a “4k version” is anything more than a 2k upscale.
Wasn’t it “2k” that the “special” editions were scanned at? …hint: yes.
http://arstechnica.com/business/2010/05/star-wars/If “2k” was the best they had at the time, we’re looking at either an upscaled version of whatever “2k” meant back then, or a full re-scan. Probably of the “special” edition.
I don’t have high hopes for a full re-scan of the actual original. It’s far more likely that they took whatever “2k” meant back then, which could be somewhere a little past that, and simply upscaled it using whatever means to make it look nice in that format.
Only the shots with CG were scanned at 2k.
