hmmm lets see .....

*cops come for Dayv and as they try to arrest him, Motti tries to stop them and is arrested too. They are both found guilty and are sentenced to watching AOTC with film commentary by Jimbo for the rest of their lives. And both are never seen again........................*

you know what? I can't let that happen to you! I'll be at your side too

hey, here's an idea maybe we can get Tony to "convince " Lucas to release the O OT

I can see it now -

* Lucas limps into a press conference with a black eye, broken arm, broken leg, teeth missing, multiple scars, cuts, bruses and announces "After being "enlightened" by a most persistent Star Wars fan, I will release the O OT on DVD " *

LOL!

^^ Now that's bad taste in my book. -- "Don't give in to hate - that leads, to the dark side."

As always Master Sifo you speak the truth. perhaps I've been too hard on Jimbo. I'll allow him his favorite movie. I would advise him to watch Godfather and Casablanca though.

I may have going too far with Lord Peeler but he really got me angry when he said we were full of s**t. But you're right, hate leads to the dark side. One look at Lord Peeler can tell you what the darkside does to you . It dominates your destiny and consumes you as it has Lord Peeler. I am sorry for calling him a jerk and a jackass. What can I say? there is much anger in me, as there is, in my father before me.

*Warbler lowers his head in shame *

I would continue to politely try to show Lord Peeler where he is wrong but I couldn't put it better than Master Sifo already has.

*Warbler Kneels down and solutes Master Sifo, than stands and walks away to meditate on his wrong doings.........*

Edit: Also rest assured that Casablanca and The Godfather weren't among my all-time favorites when I was 16.

when you say that you prefer The Attack of The Clowns the to any movie in the OT or any other movie for that matter, then you prove you have no taste.

And if they don't get both are they going to join your pathetic boycott?

BTW, quite frankly, I don't beleive anyone who says they won't buy the DVDs. I say you are full of shit. Anyone who says they aren't going to buy the DVDs is full of it. You guys will all buy it and you'll all bitch about how Lucas ripped you off by "forcing" you to buy it.

Don't tell me what I'm going to do and what I'm not going to do. Only I know that. And I'm telling you I'm not going to buy any ruined editon of the OT on any format. If you don't want to believe me, F*** OFF!!! you jerk!

Maybe my parents did buy the tickets, but they did it for me! They bought the toys for me! And I I'm the one that bought the vhs copies of the originals, the books and other merchandise. So if it weren't for me Lucas would not have my or my parent's money. And how do you know that some on the 50,000 weren't old enough to buy their tickets?

As for my parents peference, they are not Star Wars fans so either way they will not get a Star Wars DVD for themselves. However I know they

When it comes down to this poll thing, I'm d'accord with SpecialEditionSaboteur. One of the best posts on how the masses work, imho.

I'm sorry Master Sifo but Jimbo lost all my respect when he called the PTs the best movies ever made. He even said they were better then Casablanca and The Godfather. Anyone that has any taste in movies knows that that is simply not true.

Its not you Motti, I don't know what the problem is but, it is not you. Perhaps if you don't think it too personal, you could list the specs of the computer you're using, the Operating system, the type of internet connection you have and specs on you modem, and the software on your the computer that is running at same time on your system and/or has somthing to do with your connection to the internet, then maybe we could offer some more advice.

If you guys are so obsessed over rejecting everything new Lucas is doing, why even bother with DVD? You can own laserdisc. They don't degrade and I'm sure you can find them on EBay.

What this comes down to is you feel that Lucas owes you and think that since you are Star Wars fans you get to dicate what he does. Sorry, the world doesn't work that way.

T or F, was the theatrical cut of LOR released on DVD? True

T or F, was the theatrical of LOR the only cut availible for 20 years? false

T or F, has anyone grown up and become attached to the theatrical cut of LOR like people have become attached to the orginal OT? false

T or F, has Peter Jackson lied and said the the theatrical cut no longer exists? false

BTW you still havn't answer my question, why would it bother you if I was able to get the classic OT on DVD? You'd still be able to get you ruined edition on DVD. Tell me what in heavens name would be wrong with that arrangement?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we are the ones bought the tickets for his movies, that bought all the VHS and laser disc copies of his movies, we are the ones the buy the books, apparel, toys, computer games, etc. And we are also the ones he HOPES will buy his future products. That should count for somthing. Maybe the world doesn't work that way, but it should. Tell me why it shouldn't? and tell me why it can't!

Would it be nice to have both editions on video? Not really. It would be nice to have an edition where all the SFX cliches have been fixed and the bad changes have been exercized. In short, I want to see Han shoot first and I want all the violence restored. But why on Earth would anyone want to see bad SFX in any movie?

Sure, it was great when I was 6, but I'm not 6 anymore, and if I can see good SFX vs. bad SFX, I'll take good anyday.

You guys want the "force field" under the landspeeder, transparent snowspeeders, blocking looking effects shots during the Death Star battle? Why? I don't get it. I simply don't understand why anyone would want to see crappy SFX in Star Wars when you can see better SFX.

Because that is what it comes down to. The story hasn't been changed at all, so other than Han shooting first what is your bitch specifically?

So tell me somthing should they use CGI to redo the classic parting of the red sea in the Ten Commandments? Should they use CGI to redo the Ape in the classic King Kong? They would make the SFX in those movies better too would'nt it? And the SFX in the Classic OT were not crappy!

and why wouldn't it be nice to have both editions on DVD? it would give people the choice and that is the whole point! You can buy the ruined edition while I buy the classic OT.
Why would it bother you that I'd be able to buy the classic OT? Now that's Lame! And the longer you continue, more LAME you become.

Your feeble attempts to extend Lucas' fictional reality into these message boards are bound to fail. Take off that brainslug and start thinking for yourself.

Btw, welcome to these boards. Welcome - to the real world.

If you threatened me nine years ago, I wouldn't be surprised at all when you tried to do it. And I would be prepared for it.

I wouldn't bitch about it.

However, even after I prepared for it, if you still managed to break my leg, I'm still going to be just as angry and in the same amount of pain. Point is wheither they know it ahead of time or not it is still just as wrong to break my leg.

I did like Lucas until he cracked. I think more than 200,000 copies would get sold. But I say it again why not combine the ruined edition with the orginal. They did it with T2, they can do it with The OT. Either way, he'd sell enough copies.

The OT should not be changed to fit with the PT, the PT should have been made to fit with the OT. I know the PT takes place first, but the OT was MADE first. What next? are they going to make altercations to the orginal Star Trek, just to make it fit better with Enterprise? Hey I know!, how bout they get Robert De Niro to dress up like the Older Vito Corleone of Godfather Part I, get him to perform all of Brando's lines from Part I and then use CGI to replace Brando with him? that would make GodFather Part I fit better with Godfather Part II wouldn't it?

"I'll never buy the Ses on VHS, DVD, etc". Whatever. You already own them on VHS, because you bought them back in '97 when they came out.

But the point I need to make is, how the hell can anyone act surpised that Lucas isn't going to put the rough-cut out on DVD? He said nine years ago, NINE YEARS AGO thar the "95 release was the LAST TIME the original versions would ever be released on video. So if you where actually paying any attention you'd known that he wans't going to release the rough-cut of the movies on DVD, or VHS, or lazer disc for the last NINE FREAKIN' YEARS.

How the hell is it Lucas' fault you guys didn't pay attention when he said NINE YEARS ago that he would never release the movies in their original version ever again? I bet you giys yell at the teacher when he gives you an "F" for not paying attention in class.

This wasn't a surprise to anyone who actually looked at the back of the box of the 1995 "One Last Time" edition of the trilogy. So other than SEs haters, the very fanboys that are a pox on all Star Wars fans, the very idiots that make the rest of us look like anal-retentive losers, why would any sane, rational, observant person be surprised?

Or did I just answere my own question?

Who said I was surprised? I'm Just upset about it thats all. I hoped that after Lucas saw so many people wanted the original OT (don't call it the rough cut, I was not watching a rough cut for 20 years, I was watching a classic) that he would change his mind.

Also I never bought the VHS ruined edition of the OT (since you want to call the classic the "rough cut" I'll call the "special edition" the ruined edition. )
