Alright, I have another question. Lets say you're a director planning to make a movie. You're considering using a certain format in the filming of the movie. However, only a handfull of theaters can show a movie in that format. So if the you use that format, in most theaters the movie will not be shown correctly. With this in mind why would you make a film using that format?

Another thing, I'm no expert but how hard could be to take a 4:3 film and create a copy in a format that modern theaters are equiped to show and have black bars on the sides ? I know I probably sounding stupid but it just doesn't seem that difficult to me.

Yes but correct me if I'm wrong althought you're seeing everything the director shot, not everthing that the director shot is somthing that he/she wants you to see. Which is why even in this case the Widescreen print is stlll the correct version. I think anyway.

I disagree. Many widescreen fans say this but I think that whichever version shows more of the shot picture. For example in Terminator 3 only the fullscreen version has any nudity. Kristanna Loken breast are not shown in widescreen. Why on earth would the directer not want you to see this. Hell even some effects shots look better in fullscreen. In the making of it showed how they animated the water below the Hunter Killer and talked for 5 minutes on how they did this. When it shows the final shot in 2.35 widescreen the water below the hunter killer is not visible. Yes there are definutly movies where the fullscreen version is superior but not alot of them. Still this is about Star Wars that movie is clearly much better in widescreen.

The point when T3 was in the theater it was shown widescreen. If the director perfers the fullscreen version, why is the widescreen version the one being shown in the theaters?

Indeed there are.

Go get the movie The Sting. I don't think they even offer pan-and-scan vs. widescreen. My parents bought it on DVD, and we almost sent it back, because we wanted to widescreen version.
Turns out it was filmed in 4:3, or something close to it.

It was shot open matte, which means that a fullframe version of this is truly fullframe; you see everything the director shot. I still would like to see a widescreen version that takes full advantage of DVD's resolution.

Heart Breaking Moments
Time

As you know or may not know St Joe's Just lost a heartbreaker of a basketball game. With 1 minute left in the game, with a trip to the Final Four on the line, St Joe's was ahead when OSU scored and took the lead with only 6 seconds left, St Joe's tried a last 3 pointer but it missed. As I said, a heartbreaker. I did not go to St Joe's, but I am fan of the Phlly sports teams and that includes the local college sports teams, so my heart broke as well

I thought in this thread we could all share our heart breaking moments be they sports related or otherwise and in this way we could all feel each others pain and help each other through it.

So let the healing begin! Who will go first?

Man! remind me not mess with you!

You may not mind watching AOTC but would you mind watching it over and over and over again for the rest of you life and being forced to listen to Jimbo's audio commentary the whole time?
I think I'd rather commit suicide.
