This seems a bit inappropriate as a follow-up post to someone saying they lost their father this year.

It could be taken that way, but was not meant to be hurtful and unfeeling.

Mind telling me exactly wtf it was meant to be then? What was the point in posting this?

It is missing one person.

For you, yes. There are many others that none of us know personally that are missing as well. I’m not even sure a proper picture would fit in a post if everyone that passed was included.

But we can still allow Warbler room to mourn. We’ve allowed everyone here a chance to mourn the loss of a Star Wars celebrity few here have ever met in person, fewer (probably none) here who knew her on a personal level, and yet you have to minimize Warbler sharing his feelings of loss about his own dad. He’s clearly not actually requesting the inclusion of his father in the picture. He’s just expressing the fact that beyond the loss of all these famous people, he feels a deeply personal loss. Let him grieve, man.

I lost my father this year too.

I am very sorry to hear that, Puggo. I know it is very difficult. I’m here if you want to talk. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Well, I waited for my niece to come and see it with me but in the end I had to go on my own.
Generally I liked it.
Tarkin should have been a hologram and then he would have looked amazing in fact why did they expand that character and not Vader where JEJ is still around and the body can sort of be played by anyone in a mask (but not quite as we found out in ROTS and to a lesser extent here also)?

Hologram Tarkin would a been limiting. I suppose they could have shown more Vader.

The new characters were good.

The new characters were great.

A few too many easter eggs for my taste.

Didn’t seem that way to me.

Walrus man and Mr Squishyface get around a bit don’t they? Did we really need the rebel captain to call for escape pods

so what?

as Vader is going all Jason Vorhees (that was brilliant… make a Vader, slasher movie the kids will go crazy)?

Vader is a villain and his main weapon is a light saber. Just what do expect him to with that saber?

I know Frink is going to ‘call me out’ or whatever it’s fashionable for young people to say these days but some of this film looks really like our ROTJ mockups. Just like TFA.

?

There really is no excuse for not putting more John Williams themes in this. Some of the new music just sounds like knock off Star Wars music (like when a fan film is trying to avoid a cease and desist) that didn’t work

worked ok for me.

as didn’t the captions telling me where the characters would later tell me I was going.

huh?

Like the TFA the strength of this film is largely with the new characters. Some of the dialogue is a bit too on the nose and sometimes really unnatural sounding and could do with a trim.

a bit too on the nose? what does that mean?

I say it’s equal with TFA in negatives and positives and I look forward to seeing what the fan edit community do with it.

I think it is better than TFA.

Hurray for Castle Vader and his funny butler guy at last. Don’t like sand but somehow really digging lava irregardless of the past history with the stuff. I really want to see more of that relationship. Does he make him dress up as Palpatine and bow to him for pervy reasons?

*sigh*

Star Wars moving forward without Ms. Fisher
Time

My opinion is to use CGI to have her in Episode IX and continue as previously planned with episode IX. If they were intending to kill her in episode IX, do so. If they weren’t, don’t. Some will say it would be disrespectful and it is too. It if was not disrespectful to Cushing, why would it be to Fisher? As for being too soon, just where is that line drawn? 20 years? 15 years? 10 years? 5 years? 3 years? Where??? and who decides this? I think she would want to be in episode IX. Get the approval of the fisher’s family first of course(and don’t do it without it).

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread
Time

Just saw it an hour ago. Great movie. Best Star Wars movie since the OOT! It entertained me for 2 hours. Each character in this movie had more personality in a single cell than the entire cast of the PT did in their whole bodies. It got me to care for the characters in a way that the PT never came anywhere near close to doing. It moved me emotionally at times and kept me on the edge of my seat many times. The only thing I didn’t like was that all of Rogue One dies at the end, so no ability of a sequel 😦 Absolutely no offense is intended by my next statement. The Ending is improved by the death of Carrie Fisher. It moves you in a way it wouldn’t/couldn’t beforehand. When she says “Hope” I almost cried. What they did with Tarkin and Leia in this movie, opens up a way to have Leia in episode IX. Before I saw the movie, I thought they would have to kill Leia off screen, but with use of GGI she could be in episode IX. In any case, this gets 4 stars out of 5 for me.

Four more days. Just four more days, then this hellspawned year will at last join all the people its taken in death.

People die every year. Four more days won’t change anything.

seems like more people have been dying this year.

More famous people, probably.

and 1 non-famous person.
