My congratulations to all responsible. I just found out from Moth3r that the politics thread will not be re-opened. He did say that someone could create a new one(and of course the new rules would apply) by the old politics thread is dead. A thread we’ve been posting on since 07/30/2005 is no more. Thanks.
Tired of people pretending to be right just because their opinion is expressed with emphasis, strenght and wit; hardly a case to justify anything.

Well you tell me: If we are talking about a movie that takes place just before the events of ANH, should be shocked and appalled if the movie has storm troopers, Star Destroyers, Tie Fighers, X-wings and the like? Shouldn’t such a movies’ universe resemble the universe of ANH?
They werw saying that all the movie had to offer was nostalgia. If you missed thier point, that aint my fault. I’m not even saying I agree with em.
Well, I think it offered more than that. But, if that is what they think, we will just have to disagree with them. I am also not bothered by nostalgia. For this movie it was rather forced. The universe of the this movie had to resemble the universe of ANH.

of course you should watch the movie, but there is also nothing wrong with saying you disagree with said review and saying why you disagree with. What they should have been trying accomplish, was the production of a good review of the movie.

Sorry, we’ll try to start insulting the recently deceased and claiming we’re never wrong, just like you do. I keep forgetting that’s what makes you the only civilized person here.
To be clear, that video was NOT insulting the recently deceased or people in mourning over a lost father. The video was showing how some people (Stephen Colbert’s character) try and control how others should feel and morn when they themselves have not and could not begin to deal with the death of their loved one. The video was supporting the right to mourn as one see fit. But of course over sensitive people made it into something it was not.
X and Y are quite different. Y much more effectively clears it up. X does not.

This is unacceptable and inexcusable. I don’t care if I was misunderstanding the original post(and again he could have cleared that up a lot sooner and didn’t). We are talking about a complaint about joke made in a discussion about both Puggo and I losing our fathers. YOU DO NOT REACT TO SUCH A COMPLAINT BY TELLING THE PERSON TO FUCK OFF. I think some sort of discipline from the mods is in order here(just to be clear, I am not talking about a perm ban).
I think if you read FF’s last few posts you’ll see he didn’t mean to offend and realized after the fact that his original post came off worse than intended.
Sorry, I didn’t get past being told to fuck off, and I am not going to. The loss of a loved one is very sensitive area and he shows no understanding that whatsoever. You don’t go in that area and make a joke like that and then tell the person to fuck off when they complain. I thought it was possible I was misunderstanding his post so I asked him and he said it was intended as “levity”. In other words, a joke. A very offensive joke. Then he tells me to fuck off after I dared complain about it. That is inexcusable.

They didn’t like the characters, and the standalone Star Wars movie wasn’t really a standalone movie. It’s a movie for fans, not for anybody else.

I hate people that post very offensive jokes in regards to the loss of loved ones, and then when you complain about it, tell you to fuck off. I also hate those that would defend these kinds of people.
I told Silverwook to come and take a look at this thread. That is the only response I can do right now without really blowing my top. To say that I am angry, is a giant understatement.
