Since it’s not possible to put too fine a point on this…

The spectrums I wrote of were skewed to the econo-political more than socio/socio-political.

People think in terms of “freedom” v oppression without understanding human freedom.

Freedom from one’s own and another’s tyranny requires TOTAL ENSLAVEMENT to natural True Law. Freedom from True Law is TOTAL ENSLAVEMENT to the depravity of men, INCLUDING ones own evil/destructiveness.

This is the Libertarian error with regard to morality and personal conduct.

With this in mind, the Actual(vertical) and the two Ideological(horizontal) spectrums

THE HUMAN OPTIMUM (TOTAL ENSLAVEMENT TO TRUE LAW)

TOTAL TYRANNY (TOTAL ENSLAVEMENT TO RULE OF MEN INCLUDING ONE’S SELF)

Econo right-wing= private oligarchs control the politicians, leftwing= politicals control everything.

Private Oligarchy slants downward because it’s difficult for them to attain totalitarian conditions.

huh?

I feel like it’s becoming more likely that Trump will have a Republican challenger in 2020. I mean, I think the moment he was elected with the majority of the country hating him this was a possibility, but things have only gotten worse. Of course a lot could change between now and then, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Sasse or Graham run against him.

What numbers are you basing “the majority of the country hating him” on? I haven’t seen any specific polls or graphs or pies that lay this out. Any links?

How about the fact that the majority of the country didn’t vote for him?

$20 billion (average estimate) for something that isn’t even going to make much of a difference, especially considering that illegal immigration is consistently declining anyway. What a brilliant plan!

What’s to stop people from digging tunnels under the wall?

Finally some sanity in the insanity. Hopefully this can be permanently put to an end.

JEDIT: Beat to the punch. Yeah, I agree, Tyr. Proud of our nation’s ability to resist injustice.

By mere moments, my friend.

Here’s the whole decision.

God bless the ACLU.

Probably won’t stand for long. All Trump has to do is nominate someone to the Supreme Court who is in favor of overturning this ruling. The Republican Senate will use the nuclear option to end filibustering and then they will vote Trump’s nominee in. Then Trump can appeal to the Supreme Court and he will win with a 5-4 decision.

The fact that he could take control of all three branches is why I said earlier it might be time to talk Constitutional Convention to get him out.

Has he called her President of England yet?

Presidents tend to get elected.
We have an unelected party leader as unelected Prime Minister to an hereditary monarch.

But I thought your Prime Minister was the leader of the party in the majority in the House of Commons? Isn’t that decided via elections?

Like Gordon Brown before her May wasn’t elected leader. She became leader because Cameron resigned and nobody stood against her. She wasn’t chosen to represent the UK in any context. She was elected as a member of parliament. But yep that’s how we do things.

But she is the leader of the majority party that was elected to parliament, correct?

I’m curious where the line is drawn for punching people like Richard Spencer. Essentially, the justification is that he says despicable things (which he does, I won’t shed a single tear when he dies and doubtlessly burns in hell for all time), but if we are allowed to punch people who say despicable things, are we allowed to slash their tires? Throw a brick through their window? Where does it stop?

It’s like porn, I don’t know how to define where it stops, but I’ll know it when I see it…and a Nazi getting punched isn’t it.

Apparently you’ve forgotten about the 1st amendment and laws against assault.

Obviously. It looks like the specific issue in that case is that it’s a high school production, which makes sense why some might not be okay with it.

Oh.

wtf???

I don’t recall what I thought about the executive orders, but what I do know is that I didn’t like what he was doing, so I can only imagine that I wasn’t too happy about all of his executive orders.

and yet you’re okay with Trump doing everything via executive order?

Most of the ones he is issuing are things that I think need to be done. He practically undid the Obama legacy in a week, and I;m fine with that.

So it ok a President to do things via executive order instead of going through Congress, as long he/she is doing something you agree with?

Did I ever say that I morally disagree with Obama’s use of executive orders?

That’s what we’ve been trying to get at. If you didn’t disagree with him using executive orders (independent of what those orders were) then that’s fine. Republicans (including ferris, IIRC) screamed bloody murder because Obama was using executive orders, not because of what he was doing with those orders (I mean they bitched about the specifics to but I’m pointing to the fact that they said he was ruling by executive order). And now…silence…despite the fact that Trump is doing it at a rate that will far exceed what Obama done. It’s hypocritical.

This is not a doomsday rant.

Dek, you are missing the point of both my questions, and I can’t tell if you’re doing it deliberately or not, but either way I give up.

What do you mean? I don’t remember if I complained about his use of executive orders, and I don’t know what Trump is thinking, so I can hardly answer either question.

Lets put it this way: If you complained about Obama’s use of executive orders instead of going through Congress, but have no problem with Trump’s use of executive orders instead of going through Congress, you are a hypocrite.

The only response I can make is, he’s stated he was going to do it, and he’s done it. Whether anyone agrees with it or not is moot, he made this promise and he’s keeping it, it isn’t like it’s out of left field news.

This is a garbage post. Whether anyone agrees with it or not, is most certainly not moot.

When Obama was elected in 2008, it was well known he was going to try to pass health care legislation, did that make moot whether anyone agreed or not?

It did

Doesn’t seem so moot now, there are about to get rid of Obamacare.

and your copying me to get a rise out of me is moot too

You do not speak for me.

Not to mention Trump just did it (literally) overnight with no warning by signing an executive order (rather than bringing it through Congress - you know, how our government is supposed to work).

I know some of it’s been posted here but this polling is sad indeed:
http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2017/01/americans-think-trump-will-be-worst-president-since-nixon.html

So much to digest. First of all it seems that in almost every way our elected officials are doing what we don’t want.

Obviously the email stat just makes me want to throw myself into a fire but this is even sadder:

And finally only 18% of voters think it’s acceptable to punch a Nazi in the face, to 51% who say it’s unacceptable and 31% who are unsure on the moral quandary of our times.

I mean, really? This isn’t okay anymore?

That’s beautiful. Best part is, if you watch the video, he’s describing his Pepe pin right as he gets socked. So perfect.

Well, technically, unless done as an act of self defense or defense of others(or on a battle field in war), it would be considered assault, which is illegal.

I don’t give a shit. Lots of things are illegal. Like jaywalking, but I do it all the time because sometimes it needs to be done.

Assault is a little more serious than jaywalking. Trust me, you’d give a shit if you were arrested for assault. Mind you, slugging a nazi is tempting and if someone did and I was there, my head might conveniently be turned in direction where I couldn’t see what happened. Nonetheless, assault is assault, and nazi has the same 1st amendment rights that you or I have.

I’m liking most everything else he’s doing and he’s just fulfilling more campaign promises by issuing the ban.

Do you know what would be nice? If he would put some thought into these things before doing them. Leaving aside whether or not you agree with his executive orders, he’s just throwing them all out there without any consultation or consideration for the effects, and no one knows what the hell is going on. Confusion and chaos.

Don’t forget, he is also doing these things via executive orders and not through Congress. I thought this was supposed to be a bad way of governing. The Republicans sure thought so when Obama was doing it.
