Can we have a link to the trailer?

Tying Darth Ender's point with the larger idea of Obi-Wan leaving Anakin for dead, I think it would be better to have Anakin actually "die." He just suddenly falls silent or something. Obi-Wan leaves, and Palpatine/the armor brings Anakin back to life later on.

Maybe Palpatine's shuttle arriving is the reason why Obi-Wan just leaves Anakin to burn? When the movie first came out, many disliked that Obi-Wan just left Anakin there to burn, and it still comes off as kind of cruel. But what if he saw Palpatine's ship arriving and he knew he had to get the hell out of there? The scene would need to be tweaked a little, but it might work.

I had a similar idea, with a space station orbiting Coruscant.

I still don't think that works. Obi-Wan would be running.

I have a craving for some more videos, to tell the truth.

I have no preference either way, because they're both fine ideas, and it would be exciting to have the "full circle" sort of thing with the prequels. There are two things against the Coruscant idea though.

1. There's no impending threat. If the rebels are sitting pretty, there's no immediate reason for them to attack. The Death Star II was a big threat because once it was finished, it would be indestructible. They had to destroy it right away. The Imperial Palace in itself is just a building on one planet. It's interesting, but not in the context of a space battle.
For a potential solution, I would suggest some kind of secret project the Emperor is playing close to the chest. Maybe Imperial codebreakers are about to find the location of the rebel base.

2. The aforementioned work involved in realizing everything.

Are you placing the extra star destroyers on the Rebel side or the Imperial side? If they're with the rebels the battle just gets visually confusing for the audience.

Yeah, with the Hayden Christensen face it looks like a reddit comic or something. Looks good though, other than that.

Maybe he could appear at both the pyre and the celebration?

I'm glad you took the time to say it, as I've been hoping for a more cohesive Coruscant storyline to justify the argument to include it.  I honestly still don't agree, but I like your concept and it's clearly been well thought out.

Though there are other reasons, my biggest reason for not using this idea is that it in many ways reduces the tension.  We're not talking about an impending threat that must be eliminated while weak.  We're talking about what could be simply a massive attack, timed whenever it becomes convenient.  To me, that just dramatically reduces the looming danger the Rebellion is in, having to strike during their darkest hour.  And on top of that, destroying the Imperial Palace is not nearly as climactic as destroying the Death Star.

But don't let me discourage you.  This is a place for creative discussion, and I'm sure there are others that like your perspective.  I hope you'll stick around and continue to fight for your ideas :)

This is how I feel as well. It's not as though Coruscant will be flying around and blowing up other planets. The rebels could leave it there as long as they wanted.
Plus, it's not just the imperial military living there, right? All of the citizens of Coruscant who lived there before still live there.

The Millennium Falcon speeding out of the explosion just as it comes out of the shaft is a very iconic scene, as well.

Can you remove C3PO Lines "I have decided that we will stay here" outside the bunker it's annoying.

Can you remove Luke to Vader "I feel the conflict within you, let go of your hate" it feels too forced and does not add anything to this scene.

Can we cut Han's Jelousy immediatly after the DSII get's destroyed?

 

I love all three of these parts and I would hate to see them go. Maybe I'm a rube, but the first one makes me laugh out loud every time, the second one reminds me of the dynamics at play in the following scenes, and the third one makes me feel all fuzzy when Leia smooches him.

I also don't like the idea of deathbed repentance, but I suppose I should say that in my version of events Vader isn't a child murderer, at the very least. Just as Mr. Plinkett preferred, most of the actions he performs are as an enforcer, on the orders of someone else - Tarkin, the Emperor, whoever. This doesn't excuse his actions, but it makes the idea of redemption more palatable. It should be kept in mind how things felt before the prequels altered it.

That's the thing - Star Wars isn't a war documentary. It's got "Wars" in the title, and the backdrop of the main events is a war, but at its core it's a fantasy story. There's no scenes of somber reflection on the death of all the stormtroopers in the Death Star at the end of the original film. There's no rebels who show up with PTSD as a result of the battle on Hoth. You could explore those themes, and many authors have, but that's not the direction that the actual movies go.

The war is scenery for much bigger events and emotions. A commoner realizes he is destined for something more, and rescues a princess. A scoundrel learns to care about others. People fall in love in desperate situations. A mentor passes on his knowledge. etc. etc.
These things could all happen during peacetime, with the war serving to heighten the stakes. If there's no story or plot reason for something to happen, then it shouldn't happen, war or no war.

I think it would be fine with Mr. Shaw.
I don't understand the need to make the ending more "dark." It's a happy time. The suffering takes place earlier in ESB and in the rest of the movie, where a main character is frozen for a long length of time, and multiple main characters are betrayed, tortured and lose friends (and limbs!) in battle. Princess Leia is forced into a degrading costume to titillate a den of criminals. Luke has to deal with the prospect of turning into his father, or worse, his sister turning into his father, as well as his father's death.
There's no reason for an exhausting bittersweet ending when it can be just sweet. It's a drain on the audience to introduce another complication when everything is over.

Except for the ewoks, none of those things have ever bothered me. It's a great movie that can be improved upon, not a terrible movie like the prequels.

Wow. Those are all amazing. While I disagree with some of the choices, others are masterpieces. I would say that the best is Anakin's turn; I was skeptical of removing Padme's role in the event before, but now I think it's a requirement.

That works too. One idea I liked was to ditch the Bothan spies and have Boba Fett deliver the Death Star stuff to the rebels himself, though I suppose accomplishing it would be just as difficult as the new Bothans scene.

I tried doing that, but I'm not too good at sound editing yet.

EV9D9 could be used to deliver exposition if we went with the subplot where Jabba is the last Separatist leader and they're going there to get the old ships to help with the attack.

I like Luke just making grand entrances all the time as part of his character. The implication that he's going to leave to go "think" is enough for me.

I've never had a problem with starting on Tatooine, so for simplicity's sake I think that would be fine.

 I use a program called DeepFreeze to avoid having to do frequent reinstallations. Locks up your computer so that nothing can be saved or altered unless you do a lengthy unlocking process which requies a restart. You get everything set the way you want it, then you lock DeepFreeze, and you can go for years.....you could even intentionally download the nastiest viruses, but as soon as you reboot everything is back to the way it was when you locked DeepFreeze.

This is true. I did some work installing it on a bunch of college dorm computers.
