Much to my chagrin.
Much to my chagrin.
It's situational comedy. It's funny because of what they are, there's not really any reason to play it up.
The Fox Copyright brigade gobbled up the last half of them. :(
Or maybe play up that he's going there to execute him and he doesn't want witnesses? Either way works.
I really like the idea of him being the only one there, but it makes more sense for him to bring help. You could establish somehow that this is the best way, but I'm not sure of what way to do that.
I'm pretty excited for it. Seciors did a good job with Ep I.
I had no idea why Sifo Dyas wasn't Qui Gon. "He was killed almost 10 years ago." Hmmm, following the storytelling rule of show, don't tell, who did we see get killed ten years ago? Then Dooku says he's Qui Gon's master, that Qui Gon would have joined him - why is it some no-name Jedi?
You might be joking, but on the SomethingAwful forums there are loads of people who genuinely believe that was the intention of naming him that all along.
It sounds silly, but it's difficult to move or use footage from one PT movie to another because Obi Wan and Anakin both change their hair a lot.
Is there a way to digitally remove it? Any movies with Ewan McGregor in them where someone tells him to get a haircut?
Changing R2's "laughing" to a whimper would go a long way.
Probably not, but that might be a good reason for him to start on Tatooine.
It's a fictional universe. There is absolutely nothing that says that you can't do it that way, and it makes sense to enact these changes in the interest of improving the story.
3PO and R2 being there doesn't mean they're getting the spotlight or anything, but they should have a reason to be there. They're not that funny, so they can't serve their intended purpose of comic relief.
On the other hand, if it's symbolic and kind of sad, it fits with the tone of the end of the PT and mirrors the main events of the story.
An interesting way of doing it would be to make 3PO into his original conception, a car salesman kind of guy. He'd have his own small character arc where he learns to not be such a jerk, and then in the interest of protecting secrets, he agrees to have his memory wiped.
It would be cool to have a scene where Palpatine offs Mas Amedda, either by himself or with the clones.
"No room for blue skins."
They're rough and course and they get everywhere.
I had this thought as well. It seems that whenever there should be people, they're missing.
For example, the closest analogue for the Jedi Temple "briefing room" (as far as placement of objects, the hologram, etc.) set in ROTS is the ROTJ scene where the rebels plan the attack on the Death Star 2.
Even though you're focused on just a few people and there are aliens present, it feels like the room is full of people because of all the extras. There's also minor characters like Mon Mothma and General Madine, who would almost definitely have their roles filled by aliens if they were in the prequels.
In a scene that only focuses on two people, Anakin and Obi Wan, it's completely empty other than them. Even though there was supposedly a war briefing that Anakin missed, Obi Wan is the only person there left to turn off the hologram projector. There are Jedi seen in your peripheral vision, but it doesn't feel like the two characters are a part of a larger movement. Between the dialogue taking place on couches and the intrigue taking place in empty rooms, it sucks the warmth out of the movie.
I wouldn't necessarily remove aliens, because it makes sense that the Empire would be xenophobic and try to get rid of them, leading to a more human universe. It's definitely a good idea to add people, though.
I was thinking about it and Battlestar Galactica, both old and new, would be really good for space battles. It was based on the premise of being a Star Wars clone to begin with.
I like the camo because it makes sense and looks cool. On the other hand, it makes no sense, because they're not fighting in trees. All of the troops are out in the open on a beach with white sand that makes them stand out.
If it takes too much work, then leave them be, but otherwise, it's a good way to put the OT back in.
I think that's the best way to do it.
I really liked it, actually. It's very good at showing the Clone Wars as an event.
Here we have some clones, we have some Jedi - BAM - this is what they look like in action.
The only thing that concerns me is that some of the footage, particularly of Order 66, might need to be used elsewhere in its original context.
I always got the impression that Leia was just ignorant of the real power dynamics in the Empire. Vader is clearly working for somebody, but nobody really knows that the Emperor is a crazy evil wizard, so they pin it on Tarkin and lower-level types.
Has anyone considered incorporating other movies/TV shows into Star Wars? Not just in the shots used, but linking the stories together or substituting plot elements.
I think it'd be really cool to not only keep the good elements of the prequels, but to also tie them in with another story, science fiction or not. Stargate SG-1 in particular can have a similar tone to the OT at times, and uses a lot more practical effects. You could really use a lot of science fiction and fantasy for this purpose.
If we're talking really radical ideas, find two characters that fall in love and have them be Owen and Beru.
There are plenty of movies that are not very well liked, but have good effects or cinematography. You could have space battles from Star Trek films, or explosions from Transformers. There's no reason to limit the toolbox to what the prequels already have in them, especially since they don't match the style of what we're aiming for anyway.
"Too much time on your hands" is a lazy excuse people make to shelter themselves from knowing that they're not as creative or hardworking as someone else.
On the other hand, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that scene and you spent way too much of the time on your hands, however much that is, working on things that people will not notice.
I avoided using the actual titles as the names of the videos for a number of reasons, including that one. It's not necessarily unique to call Darth Vader "The Black Knight," but kudos for the good idea.
Hello there!
This is an edit of the prequels as a sort of miniseries, but you can watch them all at once as a single movie.
The plot is radically altered. Darth Vader is a body-hopping evil spirit (created by Darth Plageuis) and mastermind kept alive by the dark side, and serves as narrator. Darth Maul and Grievous act as his first and second “bodies,” though they are both called Darth Vader. Padme is alive at the end; Anakin and Palpatine succeed at reviving her through the murder of Mace Windu. All the very family-unfriendly moments are taken out - most of Anakin’s “fall” is allowing Palpatine to do his work unhindered, no child-murder necessary. The focus of the story is on the flaws of the main characters. Obi Wan continually seeks revenge, neglecting his apprentice and leading to his eventual downfall. Anakin is easily duped, and Padme’s use of Anakin as a servant proves to be her undoing.
Anakin is kind of a dunce, but overall a nice guy, and the final Darth Vader we see in the OT is a mix of his capacity for servitude and the spirit’s powerful mind. Padme herself is a warmonger who jump-starts the creation of the clone army in response to Alderaan (Naboo, I guess) being attacked. She wins over Anakin very easily, and she’s kind of a sugar mama. Obi-Wan and Qui Gon are brothers, and Obi Wan and Anakin are roughly the same age. The Clone Wars involve a lot more versatile uses for clones - as laborers to build the droid armies, as an insect colony (the geonosians,) as Padme’s decoys, and so on.
This edit uses both work and ideas from numerous sources, including but not limited to the Cutter, Spence, JasonN, and Kerr.
This is not an edit you watch as the Star Wars experience, because it has numerous technical issues. It was all done in Windows Movie Maker. There are jarring cuts, sound problems, and continuity errors (whoops, R2 is in two places at once.) I recommend you watch it with headphones. However, I did this edit mainly for myself and for posterity, and it’s the most satisfying version of the story for me. I will be revising it at some point when I have more experience, but for right now, I would like the critique to be focused on story elements.

That's a great idea!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Kerr used it to the same effect in his Episode III edit, which helped put it down at an hour and a half. Everyone's voice sounds a little bit higher.
