I did a quick encode to clean up chroma artifacts and decimate to NTSC on the German DVD and synced it up with Hifi VHS audio from the 91 VHS release. I think I did a decent job. Of course, Stereo LaserDisc audio would be superior.

Sadly I’m unable to do this project at the time. I will probably remove this thread so I won’t mislead people I honestly forgot I posted it. I had contact with someone who had these trailers but since then haven’t been able to talk to them about scanning due to a falling out. Ff I can scan them in the future I will reopen this thread!

I can upload the DVD5 with the Russian VHS rip, but I honestly wanted to do a “restoration” of the VHS to convert it to NTSC, clean up artifacts, and sync the original English DTS audio. I am uploading to Drive now tho. I am gonna PM all the people who asked for links later tonight.

Hifi tapes have two audio tracks, record it through a mono-VCR to get the mono track as well.
Not sure why I would need the mono track tho. The movie was originally mixed in Stereo for the original film festival showings in 87 and on the Disney channel in 88.
Recently I purchased a sealed VHS copy of Brave Little Toaster. Thankfully this NTSC release is unmodified from later NTSC releases and has the original stereo mix of the movie! Sadly despite the tape being brand new in the clamshell case the video and audio are a tad messy. If anyone is interested in a download let me know!

I have audio ripped from the 1994 VHS which has the mono as far as I know. It’s not sync’d to anything but incase anyone wants it.

Hey everyone I am interested in getting the original 1991 Wonka LaserDisc transferred to get the original Mono mix. It has never been released past that 1991 release and the new 4K BD lacks it as well.

Someone already ripped the LaserDisc on FanRes synced with the 4K UHD.
Is this the first time anyone has captured the fullscreen VHS? It looks very much the same as the end of this american VHS here
Other captures probably exist, but they I highly doubt they are as good looking as this one is
Not sure if anyone noticed, but there is another Fullscreen Open Matte source for The Matrix aside from the ICTV rip. RuTracker has another Fullscreen rip from what seems to be a Russian VHS and not only does it look better imo visually, but it has more footage all around and better-looking colors.

I’d just like everyone to know that I’ve taken into account the various problems with Version 1 of this project. First and foremost, it was encoded at 30fps for the purposes of making a blu-ray, which is not an easy thing to do for a mac user. I use Adobe Encore for making blu-rays, and the lowest framerate it can accept without lagging is 30fps. Therefore, I will from now on release all of my projects as as the raw MOV files that are made in Final Cut Pro. Version 2 of Shrek will happen sometime later this year, but I’d like to take a break to work on some of my old projects that have just as many people interested. First and foremost, I am returning to work on my Devo project. It won’t be as lavish as I originally intended, but It will have as many Bonus Features as I can possibly come up with.
Again, I’m sorry about the problems with the Shrek restoration. They have been noted and will be fixed by the time Version 2 happens.
If you need any help let me know! I know some people that are great at encoding film scans!

Personally, I don’t see much of a point. Clockwork Orange is getting a new 4K UHD release this October. It would’ve been worth it if it wasn’t hard matted

The print has been scanned thanks to all the donors! The reel is about 5 minutes and only has a little over 1 minute of Beatles footage. Donors have been sent 1080p samples and will be given raw 4K scans once they are ready!

This 35mm print of Terminator 2 has shown up on Ebay! It has some absolutely beautiful color and would be amazing to get a 4K scan considering how bad the official UHD release is. Not super interested in setting up fundraising, but if anyone else wants to than that would be amazing and I would be willing to help with donations!
Currently trying to get the mono mixes for a project I’m working on. I have the original Stereo Laser Disc mix of Magical Mystery Tour which has the original “Roll Up” sequence which was removed from later releases voiced over by John Lennon, but it’s Stereo rather than being the original Mono mix shown in theaters and on the BBC. Help! has never had the original mono mix released in any form as far as I know. Maybe TV rips or something? The Blu-Ray release while also being pretty disgusting visually didn’t even offer the Mono mix while the Yellow Submarine release and Criterion’s Hard Day’s Night release had the Mono mixes. Any help (no pun intended) would be appreciated!
Poita has found a faded original 1980 release print. Besides my obsession with the film, I thought it might be useful for the original mono soundtrack, and seeing the full aperture of the film.
I’ve read an account in a Kubrick fan group from someone who saw a 35mm screening that was unmatted. Besides the infamous helicopter shadow, microphones and other film gear can be allegedly seen. More stuff for the conspiracy theory crowd to chew on. 😉

The mono mix is apparently on a old open matte DVD. That probably sounds a little better than a 35mm sound track would

The transfer is finished, but I’m still waiting on the encode to be done for the movie. Once that is finished I’ll set up a download in my Discord server for both the raw transfer, and a “remastered” version. Is sharing links to Discord here against the rules?
