Wow, I’ve never seen a photo of Boba with the poncho he has in the concept art. Wonder if they ever filmed any scenes with him wearing it?

They didn’t. That’s a preproduction test shot of the first prototype suit (just after they decided to pain the white one).

Here it is in color on a mannequin:

(this one is the actual “first” version and the only-known image of the eyes on the helmet in that position, you can actually see where they covered over them on the other image)

Yeah, Duracell. I know that pain. I grew up with a dog as a second younger brother and the three of us ran around the desert for years and years growing up together.

He had to be put down while I was in Canada, and it ruined me not being there for him at the end. I know being there would have ruined me as well, but I feel like he probably felt like I abandoned him towards the end. Ugh, it’s hard to think about today even.

I could never have another pet. Never.

I’m sorry for your loss, but she had a really nice life as part of your family.

well it’s official, a kind of ANH/ESB hybrid. And yeah, the stuff sideshow had at SDCC was definately the RO Vader.

While I’d prefer a really accurate recreation of the ANH suit, I think this is probably he next best thing, and it looks pretty great. WAAAAAAAAY better than ROTS! Thank goodness!

I’m glad the cool gloves from SW are back. I’ve never cared for the TESB + ROTJ gloves.

Hey, his tabard thing is worn over his chest armor on that figure. Neat!

I was born in 1990 and my childhood was an OT paradise. There were playsets (Death Star, Hoth base, etc.) with bullets that fired when you touched the back of them (same for the toy Millenium falcon). There was the 1995 Faces trilogy to grow up on with exceptional quality on VHS. There were the toy lightsabers so heavy they could kill a kid (I remember the first time I saw the wimpy little sticks kids were playing with and I thought “We had it good”).

And all the kids talked about it. 1990s boy’s upbringings were all basically the same, we were all raised on Star Wars. Cool? Definitely.

I was born a year earlier and yep, same experience.

Lucas’ EU in 1977 (midi-chlorians, space gypsies & crystal currency)

The line about the midi-chlorians was actually added by Lucas during the making of the book in 2007. The original EU guidelines had no mention of them.

Source: http://www.starwars.com/news/so-what-the-heck-are-midi-chlorians
(scroll about half-way down to the note by Rinzler. He says, “Please note: While we were preparing the text for The Making of Star Wars, Lucas added a note to this passage about midi-chlorians, bringing his original words in line with his later thoughts and the events of the prequel trilogy.”)

This is the original, historically accurate EU guideline about the Force:
“The Force is really a way of seeing; it’s a way of being with life. It really has nothing to do with weapons. The Force gives you the power to have extra-sensory perception and to be able to see things and hear things, read minds and levitate things. It is said that certain creatures are born with a higher awareness of the Force than humans. Their brains are different. The Force is a perception of the reality that exists around us. You have to come to learn it. It’s not something you just get. It takes many, many years…Anyone who studied and worked hard could learn it. But you would have to do it on your own.”

Whoa, that’s even more interesting. Man, his revisionism knows no bounds.

It’s also interesting that I remember credits being crystalline from somewhere, too. Like space rupees perhaps? I also remember you mined “nova crystals” as currency in the game Galactic Battlegrounds, too.

Oh yeah, that’s right. If the developers of that game never read any of this, then that would be quite the coincidence.
Regardless, Nova crystals works fine for my head-canon for now.
(Also I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who played Galactic Battlegrounds. Such an underrated game.)

Haha yeah, it was fun to play a Star Wars version of Age of Empires II.

Tobar’s “The Academy Luke and Biggs talk about is not an Imperial Academy” theory = confirmed.

Well, what was it called in the novelization? I’ve read the other two books, but never got around to read that one.
I remember it being the Imperial Academy in the radio play however, but of course that was made a few years later.

It’s just referred to as “the Academy” throughout, same as the deleted scenes. No allegiance.

cmon, they talk about tapes but that dont look like a tape leia sticks in r2. So why can’t they just call it a data disc or data card?

Yeah, It’s almost as if Star Wars all happened in the past and in a galaxy that doesn’t match up with our own.
A Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… If you will.
Oh…

You must have missed the part where I said that they still could have redubbed the lines in 2004 or 2011.

The actor was probably still alive then so they could have used him still and it wouldn’t have to sound very different. GL probably could have got him for cheap too cause I don’t think he became a big actor or anything.

The movie taking place a long time ago don’t have any bearing cause Leia clearly wasn’t inserting a tape into R2. It was either a card or disc.

Because you’re probably the only person to have ever thought about it.

Combating the 'Grand Plan' Myth
Time

Tobar said:

The myth is pretty easy to dispel when the Maker himself has admitted to it. Here’s an excerpt from a letter GL wrote to the showrunners on LOST:

Congratulations on pulling off an amazing show. Don’t tell anyone … but when ‘Star Wars’ first came out, I didn’t know where it was going either. The trick is to pretend you’ve planned the whole thing out in advance. Throw in some father issues and references to other stories — let’s call them homages — and you’ve got a series.

I mean, you’re not wrong, but that was pretty tongue-in-cheek.

Holy fuck, so much for progress! I had another COMPLETELY random set of compulsions followed by an anxiety attack unlike any I’ve ever had, I actually thought I might go crazy. I’m still sweat hours later, my heartbeat doubled, my hands shook, my face went numb, it was easily of the scariest experiences I’ve ever had. I think I’ll hope for a heart attack from it if that shit happens again. Don’t know if I can hide it from my parents. I dot know what the fuck to do. I’m amazed I managed to make it through the rest of my work shift. Jesus fucking Christ. That was…God.

Continue therapy. Don’t hide it.

Yes, I know. But Howard had a cameo in Guardians Of The Galaxy, so he does exist in the movie universe. Enough time has passed to attempt a more faithful version, be it a movie or web series.

And I wish I still had that poster…

I think shorts with Howard that play before the feature films would be a cool thing to do. They could even make the short tangentially connected to the film it’s attached to if they want.

That’s a cool idea.
