Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread

The controversial Shore Trooper.

I like him. I think he’s got a sort of recon or heavy scout look to him. Like a UDT or Navy SEAL for Star Wars.

I gotta say again, it’s always so nice to see physical costumes. I just remember how excited George was when they were doing the clones in all CGI and just how much better it’s been to have real props for the majority of these new movies.

Found a guy on the International OCD Foundation’s website, called him after work today, and discovered that my insurance does in fact cover him, and the co-pay is inexpensive. I may hate my job, but the insurance can be pretty good. Unfortunately, he’s only a psychologist, so he’ll be unable to prescribe. I wasn’t hugely enamored of him on the phone, but hey, it’s a phone call. I did find one negative review of him on Google (Since when does Yelp let you review therapists?), so I’m hoping it doesn’t color my perception. It’s just a consultation. Now it’s a fair drive, but hopefully he can at least offer some advice. I have had patches where I seem to be feeling better, I think this is something biochemical. I hope maybe he can coordinate with the NP who prescribes for me if he’s good. I don’t know. It’s something. Maybe not something good, I don’t know, but I’ve tried something, anyway.

let us hope so, but he has a long way to go.

I hope he continues to make progress. I sincerely do, man.

It sounds like a good start, either way. Keep going with it!

It’s okay that they were bad. Bad movies happen. Just because they’re part of Star Wars doesn’t mean you have to make up reasons to like them.

Yeah we really live in a terrible world pal. People who dare to like things you don’t.

I’m not worried about people liking things I don’t. I like a lot of things other people don’t like. I also love bad movies thanks to being a weirdo and when I found MST3K, I realized I wasn’t alone.

My issue is that the reason people like the PT isn’t because they’re good movies. This is proven by the need for them to create all these elaborate theories about how the PT is good. They have to justify it to everyone else, including themselves, because I know a lot of these people realize the PT films are not good.

The issue isn’t that they like them, it’s that they feel like they have to like them because they’re Star Wars fans or Lucas fans or whatever. It’s really okay to acknowledge that they’re bad films. I enjoy watching dreck like Plan Nine From Outer Space not because it’s a good movie, not because I have some elaborate theory complete with logical leaps and grasping at straws that makes it “secretly good,” but because it’s a bad movie and I’ve accepted that. It’s the denial that annoys me with the PT.

Except for that last one it just looks like his side cape dealie is pulled around to the front.

Why can’t R2-D2 make some new beeps? He just says the same shit over and over…

I think he has simpler vocal programming compared to other droids like Threepio or K2-SO. I would think that R2 has a set list of responses, and if he has to say something that isn’t in the list, he pieces a new sentence together using sections of his other responses.

That’s a neat theory. I think they do a good job of embodying it in the Old Republic MMO wherein the astromech droids all speak with very simple phrases and math.

Breakups can leave just as much if not more of an negative impact as a bereavement.

When you enter a relationship you merge the threads of your individual lives into a single cloth. If that has to come to an end it’s better, where possible to carefully unpick the stitches.

All the cliches about being torn up, ripped to bits, falling to pieces, they don’t come from nowhere. It’s all real human stuff.

Indeed.

I’ve been noticing this myself lately. It seems like there’s a big rise in prequel-apologizing lately. Lots of people saying “ehh, they’re not that bad” or some kind of nostalgia kick. I’m watching a lot of The Star Wars Show (and after show) on YouTube, and it’s full of this weird thing where they keep slipping in PT love.

I’m not digging it.
