Your favorite Specal Features and Why?

I’ve only seen the Star Wars one to my knowledge and it wasn’t that good.

  1. Which one?
  2. You’ve never seen any other special features? What kind of monster are you?
  1. I owned the 1997 SE and watched it religiously growing up. I saw the 2004 re-release at some point as well. I have not yet seen the Blu-Ray versions.

  2. The worst kind, I guess. I don’t really get into movies too much, to be honest.

There have been zero fatal terror attacks on U.S. soil since 1975 by immigrants from the seven Muslim-majority countries President Donald Trump targeted with immigration bans on Friday, further highlighting the needlessness and cruelty of the president’s executive order.

Between 1975 and 2015, foreign nationals from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen killed exactly zero Americans on U.S. soil, according to an analysis of terror attacks by the Cato Institute.

Important to note that the Cato Institute is not exactly a leftist group, too.

This is America at her finest for sure. Sometimes seeing it takes time and a nudge from an unlikely situation.

On a separate note, I’d like to share a post I found from a Native American regarding his thoughts on this recent Executive Order issue. These are not my words nor does he speak for me or anyone else.

Listen, people. Being politically correct is a slow death. Hate is real. Whole countries have hated us since before we existed. Our nation decimated my Indian ancestors. Can’t change or fix that. But feeling bad doesn’t change the fact that there are men in certain countries that would spend big money to do unspeakable things to yours and mine. That being said, let’s be real and understand that not one single person reading this, or otherwise, is gonna change shit!

You can choose to cry, grovel, associate, etc., THESE MOFOS HATE US! They probably should. America sprouted out of nowhere, with a common interest of freedom. Are you really free? We’re all slaves to our jobs, for what? Cool house, car, or whatever bullshit they tell you you need? I say it’s all a farce, and it will never mean shit until people realize that none of us control our destiny. Most let the idiot box do it for them.

Question. Can you fish? Hunt? Build? Fight? THINK? LIVE? Then maybe you’ll make it for the short fucking time you’re allowed to spin through space! Nothing is promised, from the day we were born. Instead of some hateful rebuttal, think about it. What are we here for? What’s really worth getting upset and or dying for? My family and my fellow countrymen is all I have. So if some asshole that wants to subjucate me more than I already am, can’t fly here to kill me or one of my family? I say rot in the sand.

We’ve already seen what trying to make some cultures assimilate does. Cultural marxism is only a failure if we keep trying to accompish it. THEY HATE US! Not the other way around.

Peace!

This is the sort of nihilism that saddens me to my core. The idea that we are mere creatures of filth and circumstance, predestined for a future of meanness and ‘might makes right’, is wholly against everything that the noble spiritual traditions and philosophical movements of this planet stand for. It’s insidious and makes us less than we can be, and I feel more and more that the fight against apathy and nihilism must be my fight.

Well said.

Finally some sanity in the insanity. Hopefully this can be permanently put to an end.

JEDIT: Beat to the punch. Yeah, I agree, Tyr. Proud of our nation’s ability to resist injustice.

By mere moments, my friend.

Here’s the whole decision.

The federal court for the Eastern District of New York has issued an emergency stay halting President Trump’s executive order banning immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S, The Verge reported Saturday night.

The court ruled on a habeas corpus petition filed by the ACLU on behalf of two Iraqi men who were detained at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Friday after Trump’s ban.

I rescind my earlier embarrassment: I am so proud to be an American right now. Not permanent, not the entire order, but this is an important victory nonetheless.

A Texas mosque was set on fire just hours after Trump signed an executive order restricting migration from Muslim-majority countries.

The Islamic Center of Victoria was set on fire around 2 a.m. on Saturday, according to local reports.

I guess we can go back to the 1950s/60s after all. Lovely that we’ll get to experience another civil rights crisis in this country.

Maybe this time we’ll learn.

The article in question is placing the blame on a Trump supporter committing arson without actually saying it, because the people there don’t know how the fire started.

Paul Hulbert, a clerk at a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store and gas station, said he called the fire department just before 2 a.m. after he saw smoke and flames while taking out the trash. He said he noticed nothing suspicious at the mosque before or after the fire.

Victoria Fire Marshal Tom Legler, who was on scene, said he had no theories about how the fire started. He said he would have to wait until the fire diminished to begin his investigation.

By 6:30 a.m., with the fire extinguished, Victoria Fire Marshal investigators were beginning their investigation into the fire’s cause, he said. The Victoria Fire Marshal’s Office has requested help in their investigation from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
https://www.victoriaadvocate.com/news/2017/jan/28/breaking-fire-consumes-victoria-islamic-center/

The exact cause of the fire is unknown.
http://abc13.com/news/fire-destroys-victoria-mosque/1725497/

Correlation does not equal causation, and it’s a bit irresponsible of that article to make an unsubstantiated claim, but in defense of that article:

Victoria Fire Marshal Tom Legler told the Victoria Advocate he had no theories about the cause of the fire, but he is seeking assistance from state and federal fire investigators.

It may very well be likely it was a Trump supporter committing arson, but the evidence so far does not support that claim.

You are correct. I doubt it was a coincidence, but I should have waited for a confirmation before jumping on it.

Bingo’s analogy about mental illness being no different than a physical malady is apt and one I use myself quite often. Of course, in the legal realm it’s hard to say what should and shouldn’t be done, but in terms of how its treated by society and healthcare, it should be the same. You don’t tell someone with a broken femur to just “walk it off” or “get over it” because that’s ridiculous, and it should be the same with depression or schizophrenia or any mental illness.

It should definitely not be treated the same as physical injury. The body can recover from many physical injures by itself usually after a short hospital treatment (i.e. you can “walk it off”). Mental illness is way more serious, usually does not just go away and should be given more attention.

What I was saying was that they should be treated with the same level of severity and importance, not that are both the same in terms of “curability.”

My apologies if I was unclear.

I don’t know where you live and I am sorry you feel the way you do about the circumstances. I would like to see the process streamlined to make it easier for those wanting to start a new life and harder for those only interested in making it worse for everyone except themselves. If you take issue with that, it is your right, but it doesn’t mean what I believe is based on a lie.

I strongly advise you read up on the difficulty of legally immigrating to the US as a refugee or willingly. Try going through the process yourself (not actually, but pretend) and see if you’d be eligible to immigrate to the US.

Here are some links to get you started on the process.

Though I appreciate your faux concern and understand your sarcasm I have a sister-in-law from the Philipines and I know exactly how hard it was for her to get through the process.

😃

It’s not faux concern and it’s not sarcasm, Fo, and frankly, I’m insulted that you jump immediately to that every time anyone wants to have a rational conversation with you.

I’m sorry for your sister-in-law for having to go through that, and I’m also sorry for all the other sisters-in-law trying to immigrate now who will no longer be able to enter the country.

I think the main issue lies with the stigma surrounding mental illness and the lack of affordable, comprehensive care for mental illness (especially in the US, but worldwide as well).

Bingo’s analogy about mental illness being no different than a physical malady is apt and one I use myself quite often. The fact that we ignore the signs and symptoms because we don’t see them or willfully ignore them and then stigmatize the person who is ill, tell them to get over it and provide only the most basic care is the real issue here, in my mind.

I mean, let’s face it guys. Trump has somehow proven to be just as bad as everyone expected in record time. All those hopes of “he won’t be able to actually do anything” have proven to be very sadly mistaken. I don’t want to sound like doomsaying frevious, but the country is hurtling straight towards fascism.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/27/opinion/trumps-immigration-ban-is-illegal.html

Plenty of GOP Senators, Representatives, and other elected officials publicly derided Trump’s calls for an immigration ban during his campaign (VP Pence included). The fact that they’re all willing to roll over and let Trump do his thing is utterly disgraceful. If Congress let’s shit like this (and all of Trump’s other heinous plans) come to be, and I don’t even want to think of what comes next. If these people are willing to sacrifice the basic tenants of our country and democracy for the sake of partisan politics then we’re headed to a dark place.

Yo, dude you know it’s a bad idea when none other than Tricky Dick Cheney himself says it’s a bad idea.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/dick-cheney-donald-trump-muslim-ban-extreme

Cheney, a decisive conservative himself, said Monday on The Hugh Hewitt Show that the ban “goes against everything we stand for and believe in.”

“I think this whole notion that somehow we can just say no more Muslims, just ban a whole religion, goes against everything we stand for and believe in. I mean, religious freedom has been a very important part of our history and where we came from,” Cheney said on a Monday appearance on the radio show. “A lot of people, my ancestors got here, because they were Puritans.”

If I’m on the same side as Dick Cheney on something, the country truly has gone to shit.

Exactly. This is a man cold enough to shoot his friend in the face and then make him apologize for getting shot!

I mean, damn!

It’s hilarious to me how absolutely terrible Trump is at being the President of America. We’d have had better luck electing a small child. I mean, we did, because he’s a massive baby and has the same attention span, but I mean an actual small child.

Also anyone who thinks that we just let people into the country willy-nilly has no idea how immigration works. You wonder why people do it illegally? It’s because it’s nearly impossible to get in legally.
