How do others see the originaltrilogy.com community?

Been in a discussion all day with some Lucas apologist on Reddit's /r/StarWars. In all honesty it is probably Obi-Rob.

I usually try to stay out of it, and his viewpoint is not the popular one, but I saw the chance to get the word out about the cause, but the amount of unfounded anger the guy has towards us is just crazy. All I've been doing is explaining our viewpoints and wants and he's just been going insane, more or less.

Crazy.

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time

Been playing Guild Wars 2 and DayZ lately.

Recently beat Space Marine and all the Dawn of War II games, but I still have all the campaigns apart from Space Marine to play in Retribution.

Still have a partially-completed Assassin's Creed playthrough to finish, and then the rest of those games.

I also need to finish my 100% run of Arkham City and play Arkham Asylum.

Ugh. Stupid school and life.

Random Thoughts

I've probably said this before, but every time I open the Politics thread here, my general reaction is this:

I could spend an eternity in there arguing about what amounts to a hill of beans with a brick wall; the willpower I must exercise in order not to, and even not to look in the thread very often, is immense. It's scary.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place

I like Heiroglyphics and both Del the Funky Homosapien and Opio (both from Heiroglyphics) are good. I also like Madlib and Quasimoto (same guy) are good, also the Lootpack (which includes Madlib).

Jurassic Five is always good, too. And don't even get me started on the oldschool stuff from the 80s and 90s.

But hey, I also like Kanye West so what do I know.

Good lord. It's like someone screaming about how their religion/political party/football team is better than all the others.

I can't even believe the depth and width and breadth of this fellow's ignorance and it makes me want to grab him by his lapels and shake him violently while striking him about the neck and head with a book of general knowledge. The way that ignorance seems to be celebrated these days is utterly sickening.

It really makes me depressed when I see how polarized things have to be these days, even the fanbase for a series of films. I'm pretty sure none of us hate Star Wars, or even Lucas for that matter (though we may hate his actions and are very frustrated with him for taking those actions). And I'm also pretty sure we wouldn't be boycotting further revisions to the films if they would only do the simplest thing in the world and give us a high-quality, cleaned-up version of the unrevised theatrical editions. That's all. we. want. And it would be exceedingly easy to do.

Sigh.

How do I start living life?
Time

If you have people you actually enjoy being around in Canada, move there. Tell them your story, if they actually care for you, they will bend over backwards to both help you and provide for you while you are going through this rough patch. I know you'll come back at this with something about not wanting to be a burden or you don't want them to go to the trouble, but stow that thinking for once because they will be more than happy to help you.

As far as your father and mother are concerned, if you don't like them, then write them off. Maybe that seems a little cold, but if they're not good to you, then you owe them nothing. You need to focus on you and you shouldn't feel any obligation towards them.

Seriously, though. Move to Canada. Inform your family there about your situation, and let them help you. If you can't open up to them about it, then perhaps you will at least feel better enough from the change of scenery and more positive surroundings will be motivation enough to find a job and maybe start meeting people at which point you can start paying your way to therapy (hell, maybe it's free in Canada?).

As an aside, the most important thing to remember about therapy is that you have to stick with it. If you have a bad therapist or someone you can't connect with and trust, then feel free to change it up; but when you find the right one, stick. with. it. It will be hard but you must stick with it.
