The OHMSS theme really is one of my favourite pieces of film music.

Spelling deteriorating in here. Coming in to help now.
I can't stand people who just snotrocket all over the place, because, invariably, I end up cleaning that shit up.
Use a damn tissue.
Feels good man.

Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and John Williams are back and Luke has a Jedi Academy where he trains Jedi in a more serious, character-driven script.
It sure looks like they're off on the right foot!
Yeah. I'm trying not to get all excited about this considering all the other times that bit me in the ass, but I can't help it hearing some of this news.
I don't smoke and I rarely drink (and even then not much at all) but I can't seem to stop urinating on exposed wiring.
I was just telling people the other day that "if the money was right..."
Be interesting to see more as it develops.
*V for Vendetta quote!*
I know it was a good movie but it's crazy that they made a holiday out of it!
Def. gonna put on my mask and knock over some trash bins to show this shitty corrupt totalitarian government that anon and anarchy are the way to go!

Agreed.
Same. And if you absolutely feel like you have to, no insane arches or anything. Just keep it looking natural.
No Sean Bean, no point.

whenever I think of SW outside of the OT and its potential, i'll always think back to when I saw that trailer for SW Galaxies and how moved I was (i wish I could find it again).
wasn't those. but those are cool.
the one i saw (i think i mentioned this in another thread) plays the same music when luke tells ben that r2d2 is looking for 'obi-wan' kenobi.
it was the moment the music that plays when ben says "i havent gone by the name of obi-wan", there was a brief 2 second shot of some girl running towards something, im not sure if she was in a field or on a road but it just caught my attention. there was just something about it...especially with the music playing in the background.
the commercial says "now you play the greatest star wars adevnture of all....your own"
maybe its just me and maybe it was the time back then, but its just an example i always use when asked if there coudl still be great star wars outside of the skywalker family.
another is that KOTOR game. friend of mine had xbox and he was playing it and I watched and it was great. i understand it got great reviews.
someday i'll find that trailer.
I remember it as well, if it's the same one. So much potential for that game... now I'm gonna have to fire up the SWG Emu, dammit.

Everybody is so pessimistic here!
I dunno about everybody.
I feel like the general consensus has gone from initial shock, surprise, and maybe a little dismay to one of very cautious optimism; don't forget we've been burned several times before with the special edition, one bad prequel after another, the special edition becoming the regular edition, more special editions, the disappointment of the failed GOUT, and finally a Blu-Ray that seemed to forgo fixing all the old errors in favour of adding in more changes.
Every time in the past we collectively got our hopes up, only to have them dashed. The GOUT was the last straw, so with the Blu-Ray we learned to regard everything with a very wary eye, and we were proven correct that time. This time I would say the overall feeling is to go in expecting nothing, but hoping for the best.
As for the Live Action TV Show, I feel like this Disney/Lucasfilm deal has been in the works for a long time now and might have something to do with the postponing of the show. If budget concerns were the only problem, I don't know if there's a company with more money and more TV experience than Disney (considering they own ABC especially), so it's entirely possible that Disney will be taking the reins there and moving ahead with Star Wars TV.
That's good, man. Just ignore your need to dwell and hypothesize because it can bite you in the ass.
Just take deep breaths and let it play out. I think you'll do well.
Don't overthink stuff, ask her to slow down if you need to, and just take it all as it comes.

Okay, take this one with a grain of salt.
Supposedly, some guy with a source that called the 3D theatrical re-release has some more information about the upcoming films. This point in particular caught my eye:
The movies from what I understand will adopt the Harry Potter model, and will be aggressively brought to the forefront of popular entertainment once again with consistent installments. This is just for starters though, especially for those who hold the original trilogy in high regard, they should be happy. You can expect lovingly restored prints of the original trilogy to surface in the near future. That's a no brainer. I along with the rest of the world want those movies in their original glory. Disney are all over that, believe me.
http://marketsaw.blogspot.ca/2012/11/exclusive-more-secret-details-revealed.htmlI wouldn't hold my breath...
Anyone else remember Super Shadow?
Oh crap, his site is still up.

Lucas is a strange one. On the one hand he is clearly a very generous man. He is a very intelligent businessman. I like his stance on the importance of education and his desire to help it improve any way he can. And he also has demonstrated in the past his desire to protect films so that future generations can enjoy them.
Yet then look at what he has done to the fans regarding the original trilogy. You can't even catch the originals on tv anymore for crying out loud, since he won't allow it. Why does he have such hate for us all? Granted we have thrown a lot of hate his way over recent years. But much of that is because he's denying us the one thing we've been asking for since the dawn of DVD. Many of us were bitter, or have become bitter over the years, about the quality of the prequels. That cannot be undone. But I think we can all agree that if he had released this recent blu-ray collection with the original trilogy intact, as originally released, all would have been forgiven. Instead he's given us another reason to feel like he hates us.
Yeah, I was reflecting on the Duality of George Lucas tonight, myself.
It's really interesting, and I don't think I can name another person who is so universally loved and a cause of frustration for so many people at the same time.
I don't think most of us would say we hate the man (perhaps in a fit of rage over the latest change in the latest boxed set for the latest year), or that we wish him ill, especially in light of his charitable work and other such; in fact, from my time here and other, similar places, I feel like we all think he's a good man, and we are all grateful for creating something that is such a big part of our lives and film history, and it's because of those reasons that places like this, and things like the petition and all the fan vitriol exist.
But at the same time, I don't (personally) know a single person who is not also ridiculously frustrated by his insistent, admitted intentional suppression of the original versions of his films and apparent lack of concern about the quality of the prequels and therefore the "health" of his intellectual property. I don't know a single person who doesn't feel some sense of betrayal and anger and alienation at the whole fiasco, that an entire portion of their childhood is being destroyed and some feel it so deeply that they can't handle it and just renounce the entire franchise.
And, again at the same time, I don't know a single person who doesn't want to be able to go back to loving Lucas, patch things up, and hand him their hard-earned money for a copy of the unaltered original films and just be done with it all.
It really is an incredibly fascinating dichotomy.
Listen, I'm certainly bitter about Lucas' treatment of the OOT (and THX, which is also never coming out again), but the fact of the matter is, that's fiction. Giving that much money to charity is a very real thing, and he deserves full congratulations for giving to a good cause and those in need. I give him full credit for, and my hat is off.
I didn't mean anything inflammatory, I just find the relationship we all have with the man very interesting.
I believe he certainly deserves praise for all the good he's done with his money.
That sounds like a sweet childhood. Mine seems lame by comparison.

Thanks for posting that, Jetrell. The fact George is actually a nice guy is all too often lost in the shuffle.
It's possible to disagree with his stance on the originals, or not like one of his films, and respect his generosity at the same time.
We also shouldn't forget that he's one of the people on Bill Gates' Giving Pledge.
He may not be good to Star Wars in our eyes, but he's a good man.
I go on Twitter sometimes.
I guess you could say I lurk? That's weird.
I was born in 1989.
I have a really bad general memory, so I barely remember yesterday.

on a side note there has been no mention of the Clone Wars series in the deal and what will happen with Lucasfilm's Animation Division, I hope Filoni and his crew are somehow involved in the new trilogy as IMHO their attention to detail has really brought the series into line with the ideals of the original STAR WARS than what they originally were given to work with.
it's really that good? beats the now-buried Tartakovsky version?
I can't get enough of it. Sure there are lame episodes and some questionable canon decisions, but by far and away it is a fantastic show that is everything the prequels should have been and more.
Get your bitch ass back in the kitchen and start on that pie, Frink.
