Disney Acquires LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Episode 7 in 2015, 8 and 9 to Follow, New Film Every 2-3 Years

If they could make Jeff Bridges younger for Tron Legacy, aging Ewan to Alec Guinness' age in Episode IV ought not to be a problem. It might even be possible to resurrect Alec the way Marlon Brando was brought back for Superman Returns.

Unless they bring Holochrons into the movies, I would think all Jedi records were destroyed or wiped in the purge. Unless Ben was making recordings on Tattooine for twenty years, he simply didn't have time to leave Luke any messages.

Otherwise, we're pretty much left with Force Ghosts. Ben suddenly appearing to Luke after all these years, to warn him of something dire would have impact though.

I have long thought Luke would go back to Ben's house in the Jundland Wastes someday.

Good points. I also always figured that Luke would go back to Ben's house, I'm sure he would have left him some repository of Jedi knowledge, however small it may be, so he could carry on the tradition.

I know in Shadows of the Empire, Luke goes back to make his green saber, learning from a book there.

I also know that in one of the single best Star Wars books I have ever read, The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke basically finds Ben's memoirs and his accounts of everything that took place in the prequels, Jedi histories, all that good stuff.

There's a lot of potential there for stuff. Flashbacks, et cetera. Obviously they won't take directly from the EU, but still, similar ideas could crop up.

Lucas on his role as a consultant:

“[If the filmmakers ask],‘Who’s this guy?’ I can tell them,” he said. “I mean, they have a hundred encyclopedias and things, but I actually know a lot. I can say, ‘This is this and this is that.' Basically I’m not — I don’t really have much to do.”

Eloquently put.

Indeed. Somewhat comforting.

Why did the rebels destroy the AT-At walker on Hoth in episode 5???

How come they were able to blow it up, though? "That armour's too strong for blasters."

They hit it in the neck. The neck is a weak spot as it's more like the corrugated passage between train cars than the train car itself, and therefore less heavily armoured; you'll notice that they also hit it in the head and it remains undamaged until they hit the neck - If I were to speculate, I would say that the lasers pierced through the neck and then through the deck and hit the motors for the front legs and that caused the explosion.

Targeting it while the AT-AT was moving would be more difficult, but once it was stationary... boom.

The AT-ATs are also weak from the underside.

Star Wars without Artoo- What would the saga be like if there was no Artoo
Time

R2-D2 saved the Queen's starship in Episode 1. Without Artoo, the ship would have been destroyed, and the Jedi killed, as well as the queen. Nute Gunray is successfully prosecuted for invading Naboo and killing the queen. Qui-Gon and Obi-wan would never have stopped on Tatooine to find Anakin, and so Anakin would never have become a Jedi, nor would he have become a Sith. A new leader of Naboo would have been elected, and as Jar-Jar had been killed as well, he wouldn't have called for emergency powers for the Chancellor, even if the Trade Federation had remained intact after that fiasco. In short, if Artoo had never existed, the Empire would never have been formed.

"I don't know what all the trouble is about, but I'm sure it must be your fault."

Interesting.

Ewan McGregor & make-up effects Rick Baker show interest on a return to Star Wars (not sure what Ewan would do.....not a clone)

They could certainly olden him up a bit more and do holographic recordings from Ben to Luke, or leave him a bit younger and do holographic recordings of The Clone Wars or his other exploits.

Certainly a lot of room for stuff in that realm.

What would Darth Vader have been like as a ruler, if he had overthrown emperor palpatine and became the emperor/ruler of the galaxy himself??

"Luke, I raped my father!"

. . .

. . .

Bizarre allegations aside (snerk), I am currently the editor of a story in which Vader was never injured, killed Palpatine mere days after becoming his apprentice, and ruled the galaxy for over twenty years before abdicating his throne and departing, along with Grand Admiral Thrawn, to the Unknown Regions of the galaxy to fight against alien invaders.  In addition to the familiar characters, the story also features appearances from Revan and the Jedi Exile (as well as the morbidly hilarious assassin droid HK-47) from the Knights of the Old Republic series, as well as an original villain called the Burned Lord, a figure partially inspired by the Joker, whose aim is to consume the galaxy in a Force-induced inferno.

It isn't completely finished yet, but we're consistently posting a new chapter every two weeks.  There are some elements of the prequels here and there, but don't let that put you off—I'm pleased to report there are no midichlorians anywhere in sight.  ;)

In short, if you're in the mood to read SW done right, look no further . . . and I would say that even if the author was not a close friend of mine.  (The complete prequel-rewrite I've occasionally mentioned will be his next project after completing this story.)

Sounds a lot like plot elements from KOTOR I and II.

<_<

I saw Kennyboy commenting on SW.com the other day. Still the same guy.

Anyway, I'm gonna address this now that I won't have anyone telling me that there were innocent Imperials on there that had families and were only retaliating against terrorist Rebels.

They blew it up because the Empire is bad and was attacking them. Anybody questioning why enemies kill one another in wartime is missing a valuable part of their animal instinct that says to destroy that which is attacking you.

Take the Father Skywalker Pledge (Troll Banned, Pledge Rescinded)
Time

Honestly, I want to say I'm proud of everyone for trying.

I still don't think he/she/whatever was a troll, and I'm glad that instead of immediately cursing them out and banning their ass, the majority of people really did try to sit down and slowly and clearly explain things to FS.

I even learned a few things from other people's explanations, as well as my own research, and I also feel more capable in terms of explaining Star Wars to a more... reasonable and accepting mind when next I have to.

Everyone did a good job giving it a shot - we didn't all keep a level head, which is 100% understandable because I almost wrote a couple posts that would have been half insults - but everyone tried, and that's what counts.

Guys like that keep us on our toes, I guess!
