Who should the villain(s) of the sequel trilogy be? (if the sequel trilogy has villains)
Time

I dunno if I can agree with that totally. I feel like lightsabers are special weapons, and that to have or wield one should be cause for attention. They're not just a simple weapon, they're unique and tied to their Jedi wielders. They're a status symbol.

In some cases, I'm cool with it. I liked Grevous' trophy sabers, and I would have loved to see that expanded to other characters, like Boba Fett (or someone new) in a future film. And I don't mind seeing someone non-Jedi wield a saber, as long as it's not everyone, because it just means that character was badass enough to take one off a Jedi.

I also certainly don't mind seeing Jedi use a blaster. Obi-Wan killing Grevous with a blaster was a great moment to me, and I'm excited to see Kanan use one in Rebels (I'd be glad if that was his main weapon, too), not to mention the indomitable Kyle Katarn. I don't think Jedi should be above using them, but I don't think they should be their main weapons. Now, with Luke's generation of Jedi, I think the blaster/saber combo a la ESB is totally okay.

Spot the errors: ROTJ!

The size of the bunker explosion doesn't match the reaction to the explosion of Han and the strike team just a few yards away.

I'm pretty sure that isn't an error. When the rebels are in the bunker, you see a long row of reactors, or whatever they are, and they're probably meant to lead to the deflector shield dish, etc. I think it's supposed to be a chain reaction, and the bunker is only an entrance (isn't there something in the movie about them going around to the back entrance instead of going straight to the shield generator?) to the larger complex. That's how I've interpreted it since I was 10 or so.

This was how I always thought of it. I just figured the bunker was the doorway to a much larger complex. I mean, we're generating a shield large enough to completely encapsulate an entire moon-sized object here. I figure that takes a big facility.

I'd prefer Mandalorians to wield swords of Mandalorian iron over lightsabers.

Me too. Vibroblades are just fine with me.

Didn't realize there were Mandalorians in TCW. I thought all the junk about them was all EU and hence nixed.

The writers of TCW never tried to be 100% in-line with the EU, but they often adopted and modified aspects of the EU that they liked/wanted in the show.

Pretty lame that they wielded lightsabers too.

I didn't watch the whole show, but I'm sure only Pre Vizsla was shown wielding a lightsaber, and it was a stolen lightsaber at that, so I personally don't see any problem with it.

Yeah, it's only Vizsla (the leader of the Death Watch remnant) who uses it. And it's not even a traditional lightsaber. It's a "darksaber" (hurr hurr), which is one of the more ancient versions of what we see by the time of the PT and OT that was captured as a trophy by the Mandalorians in an ancient battle and passed down through generations.

I believe Dave wanted to just give him a vibroblade, but Lucas didn't like the idea of something that wasn't a lightsaber being able to block one.

I particularly believe that lightsabre is more or less useless if one does not posses the ability to use force.

Which would make sense, if the lightsaber could only be activated by a Force-sensitive. However, most lightsabers can be activated with an old-fashioned push of a button. Han even uses one to cut open a tauntaun.

I think too many people put too much importance on the lightsaber as a Jedi weapon. It's a glowing energy sword, plain and simple, not the Ark of the Covenant.

But it is "the weapon of the Jedi Knight".

The Man Who LITERALLY Built Star Wars
Time

Excellent interview. Guys like that are a dying breed. He hits the nail on the head about the feel of the universe.

I just love the idea of someone digging around in a scrap bin and just assembling a lightsaber from found stuff. I'd love to do that kind of thing.

I would be ecstatic if he was involved even just as a consultant for the new films, because this man knows the aesthetic for the entire Star Wars galaxy.

Also, I always get sad when people describe young Lucas. It's like the man is dead or something.

Argh, such glaring errors that I cannot correct!

Thanks, everyone, for doing the survey. It really means a lot to me. And thanks for the feedback. Except I just see errors I can't fix now for fear of messing up my results, haha.

Google's survey tool is awesome. It compiles all the results into a spreadsheet for you, as well as creates nifty bar and pie charts automatically, which saves a ton of time.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Time

I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As a person who grew up with few comic books (not sure why, just never branched out that way) the MCU has really turned me into a fan and made me wonder what all I've been missing in the comics world, so much so that I'm contemplating getting into some collecting, or at least reading.

As a guy who always goes for the armoured normal guy among superbeings, Iron Man is most definitely my favourite hero on the roster, but thanks to the other films and Marvel Heroes (which is honestly one of the best games of all time run by a company that really does give a shit about the game and its playerbase), my interests are expanding somewhat.

I'd really like to sit down some day and run a marathon of all the Marvel films to date sometime, and with the glowing reviews that the Agents of SHIELD show is getting, I'm really interested in starting that as well.

Hey folks, have you ever wanted to be part of something larger than yourselves?

Well this isn't that chance because I'm not fat or anything, but you can certainly help me graduate from college by taking this sweet survey about video games I made.

If you're a gamer, it'll probably take you less than five minutes unless you make a sandwich or something halfway through, and if you're not a gamer, it'll take you even less time because you can just click "no" to everything and you'll help boost responder numbers.

I'll be eternally grateful for your participation in helping bust me out the joint; in fact, I will purchase you one drink or food item of your choice if you track me down.

Here's the link.

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

Finally was able to see the trailer as it had not been working for me all day thanks to YouTube sucking.

It looks neat, but I felt like the trailer was lacking in information. Kinda just showed us stuff we've already seen just all cut together.

I really do hate the faces on both Jedi characters, but that's really my only complaint. The rest of the visual style is excellent to me.

I can't wait to actually learn something new about this again.
