IGN just posted that the film release may be delayed due to the injury.  To be honest I never liked the December release date, Star Wars films should always be out in May.

Is it wrong that I can hear Servo singing this in my head?

Hearing Servo is never wrong.

Except when he tells you to destroy Canada. ;)

Welllll... maybe. <_<

The Mummy 1999

Now normally I hate remakes that are dumber then the film they are a remake of. Also I am huge ancient history buff so there are a huge number of things in this movie that should bug me to death, but you know what? They don't.

This movie is big, loud, and goofy but it knows that and it doesn't pretend to be anything it's not or try to have any deep moments.  When people talk about movies as theme park rides this is the type of film they are talking about. It's there to get a few scares and laughs and then it goes away.  The cast is all in on it and Jerry Goldsmith's score is a lot of fun to just sit back and listen to and it captures the spirit of high camp adventure perfectly. The CGI is done on a pretty impressive scale for the time and the whole film just feels epic and fun.

Is this movie perfect? No,but you know what when I am in the right mood this movie hits the spot.

7.5/10.

Totally agree. I love this movie. All the problems with it that would bother me in another film just melt away and I can just enjoy myself with a decent popcorn flick.

I even enjoyed the Mummy 2 for the same reasons (though less so).

I think one of the reasons these movies work is that they have a quick pace and a real flow and Brendon Faser comes off as some sort of lost action hero from the 30s and 40s.  I can't put my finger on it but he just fits right in and has a real likability that just fits right in and the cast does have chemistry and that helps a lot.  The movie is just a lot of fun to watch.

I think that's a good summary. I feel like they could have really easily gone into Indiana-Jones-Rip-Off territory, but they took the high road and managed to set the films apart from Indy, without compromising the enjoyability.

Immigrating to Canada is a really annoying process. Gotta get medical checks, police checks, drop a ton of money on all three of these things and maybe get denied in the end. And I have to do this all before my work visa expires and I have to leave the country and my girlfriend.

But at least I'm not immigrating to the US.

Welcome to the Great White North. Pull up a seat and have some Canadian bacon with maple syrup, eh.

Hey thanks. Not sure what to do aboot this moose that's loose in my hoose, though...

Well I'm a U.S. citizen already and will not be renouncing my goddamn freedom; just the process to get into the U.S. is incredibly prohibitive. After doing my research with my girlfriend to get her into the country on a permanent basis, I am not at all surprised people decide to do it the illegal way. For a country built on immigration, we sure don't seem to want any more new people.

I mean, unless you're rich, basically.

People seem so shocked about illegal immigration ruining the country, but I think we're really creating the problem ourselves after my experience with the U.S. border and a one hundred percent white Canadian girlfriend. It's the prohibition thing: you make something hard to do and people end up doing it illegally, and when you're not welcoming, they don't assimilate properly (though Canada has problems with being too welcoming which makes people not assimilate properly and then you end up with a pretty broken political system because you have to play to dozens of mini-cultures instead of a unified Canadian culture).

That's more frustrating than my deal, honestly.

I'm enjoying the U.S. holding on longer in a game we're widely regarded as not caring about than certain other countries that care about it almost exclusively. It feels great. I hope we go all the way.

To answer Wook's question, I really do think the US is caring a lot more this year than others. Or at least I'm more exposed to news about it. Either way, I'm enjoying it.

It allows for a lot of maneuverability without any extra strain on the pilot, as well. Rolls suddenly become pretty effortless, since most Rebel fighters have artificial gravity.

With the added bonus that a B-Wing on an attack run can roll to evade enemy fighters without having the target of the attack run effectively spinning wildly from their own viewpoint.

Exactly. I assume they can set the orientation somehow, and it allows them to maneuver more heavily and maintain their orientation at less stress than a conventional fighter, which would give them an advantage. Plus it's harder to hit a small frame that's in near-constant motion.

Also it gives them a larger area of effect with respect to weapons, like SilverWook said. It's actually a pretty amazing design the more I think about it.
