Why can't people wait until it's actually the fourth of July to set off fireworks? I've been hearing stuff go boom for weeks, and tonight is no exception.

I also saw potentially illegal brush burning going on in the area, and we're in the middle of a freaking drought. One ember and a little breeze is all it takes.

Canadian neighbours?

Duracell's likening of DKM's Boba to Alan Moore's Rorschach is pretty apt, Boba's definitely less nuts than Rorschach, but they have similar views of the world or galaxy.

I don't think DKM's version of Fett is for everybody. I've met plenty of people who hated the two stories, but I believe what makes these characters "human" and "relatable" is that they are actually inhuman and unrelatable, but they speak to a kind of primal sense of justice inside everyone at the same time.

I think that people who don't understand why people like the character so much should read DKM's stories. To me, they exactly embody what Boba Fett is all about and exactly why he's my favourite Star Wars character.

I really think it's a shame on the level of a tragedy that DKM's Boba Fett stories have been so diminished thanks to the number of lame retcons and especially Lucas' butchering of the character in AOTC, because to me, it's one of the best pieces of Star Wars writing out there.

Indeed. Of course, PT fanboys'll just say that AOTC made Fett more "human" and "relatable". *rollseyes*

Which is hilarious to me because I feel that way about DKM's work.

After having now read both of the Boba Fett stories by Daniel Keys Moran AKA J.D. Montgomery, I have to say I really like his take on the character; his Boba is kind of like Rorschach from the Watchmen comics -- a pessimistic antisexual with an unorthodox sense of justice all his own.

I'm sure its a take on the character that not everyone likes (PT fanboys especially), but for me, I find it makes Fett a more complex and interesting character than -- say -- being a Maori clone who flirts with dancing girls.

The Last One Standing and A Barve Like That are probably my favourite Fett stories of all time. They are what sold me on the character when I was young.

I picked up the Tales of... books at library book sales and didn't get hold of other Fett books (like The Bounty Hunter Trilogy and whatnot) until much later on, so my picture of Fett was what I saw in DKM's books and Twin Engines of Destruction, and they really just sparked my interest in the character.

He blocked sixteen shots. A world record. Twelve of those saves kept the game totally scoreless in regulation and pushed it into overtime.

Going into this, I figure Belgium would take the win because they were just a vastly superior team, but it would have been over a lot faster had it not been for Howard's incredible performance. Here are some stats:

Here are his saves in gif form:

The man was a beast.

OK, although it makes me quite unhappy and I still disagree with most of the arguments against the corners, the backlash from so many people invested in this project makes me even unhappier, so I'm gonna get rid of the corners. It will be quite a lot of work though, so I expect it to push the release a bit.

I want to thank you for that. I don't think doing that is absolutely necessary, but you're a cool guy.

I agree here and with Tobar. Thank you so much, Harmy. You once again show why the fan editing community is so great.

I thought putting tinfoil on windows was supposed to cut the heat down, but it doesn't seem to do jack shit -- I'm still miserably hot, just in darkness instead of sunlight.

God, how I hate living in the Okanagan Valley. First chance I get, I'm moving somewhere where the heat rarely climbs above 25°C.

I hate hot weather.  When it is cold all i have to do is put on a coat but in the summer I just have to sweat and I hate sweating.

I feel sorry for you man.

The worst thing is that the weather is only going to get hotter. In July and August, the temperatures reach the mid-to-high 30s.

Don't move to Arizona!

Go Harrison go! A nice poke in the eye of all the people making sad old geezer jokes elsewhere.

I wonder if they will incorporate his injury into the plot now? The Falcon is too far from a safe harbor to seek a medical droid, so they improvise.

Yeah, I was wondering maybe they'd write a limp or a prosthesis into the script.

I kind of hope not, because I feel like our heroes should be invincible, but you never know.

Because nobody ever got mauled by a Wampa, almost froze to death, and later got their favorite hand chopped off in the OT. ;)

Oh that's true, but I mean him having a limp isn't quite like instantly recovering from losing a hand.

Nice to see our heroes with a touch of grey, except for Lando, who probably has the best hairstylist in the galaxy. ;)

Since when are there Terminators and Werewolves in Star Wars?

Black don't crack.

I think that's Star By Star, so the Terminator is a Yuuzhan Vong Hunter Droid and the werewolf is maybe a vornskr.

Edit: It's actually a voxyn.

Harrison Ford is back in London after his surgery.

He's looking spry and is refusing help from people like you would expect from grumpy old Ford. Seems to me with his new "pegleg" he could do a lot of still shots from the head down almost to the knee, even. Definitely sitting scenes.

The cast definitely looks more foot than leg, which is also a good sign. He seems pretty determined to keep doing his own stunts, too, judging by the older quotes which is great. Love that guy.

I like how the one subtitle makes it seem like the entire ship fell on him.

As this is art rather than story, character, or content, I don't know if I should mention this here, but I have to say I love the art of Tsuyoshi Nagano, the artist who does the cover art for the Japanese editions of the Star Wars novels.

File:SBS1 Japanese art.jpg

I think more often than not, his versions are better than the originals. I don't know why he's never been hired to do covers for the North American editions.

Pretty sure I've seen some of his art on North American editions of some books...

My dad has to be on a special diet for his heart and because his kidneys are failing but right now we can't buy the food he needs because the bank is refusing to show the paycheck my mom deposited in her account last Thursday as being their and this is not the first time this has happened. So now we have no food in the house and no money to buy food because the law does not apply to big banks. if a bank decides to steal two weeks pay from you there is nothing you can do about it.

I am sick to death of this corrupt country that is run by the rich. Three days in a row of no food because someone at the bank stole our paychecks and it is not a crime for a bank to steal your money in this country. We need a revolution.

Drop your bank and join a credit union. I've been with one since I was about five years old and have never ever considered joining a "real" bank. Never had trouble accessing my money instantly after depositing it, never had to deal with insane fees, never had to deal with any crap whatsoever.

I'm not here to argue, and I'm not going to turn this into a flame war, so I'm going to say my piece and that's that.

I can't get behind the rounded corners thing. Some of the things Lucas changed you wouldn't notice until someone pointed them out, but that doesn't make them right.

Strictly speaking, it moves the project from a preservation to an edit. That's just how it is. The change is intended not to preserve the look or feel of the original film, but instead it's willingly cropping out picture information to alter the feel of the film to the editor's liking. This is no different than Lucas willingly cutting out (or covering up, as the case may be) picture information, however tiny and "inconsequential", to insert some 3D dinosaur or what have you. The argument that we can just "crop them out" after the fact is even worse, as it requires the loss of even more picture information, which is unacceptable.

We only just regained the uncropped scenes of the Millennium Falcon from Empire, and the fact that a community that was elated to see that regained picture information now think it's suddenly acceptable for a fan editor to turn around and cut out further picture information, however small, is absolutely ludicrous (not to mention a double standard). I think we can all agree that the picture information lost in the 'Falcon scenes was not a "major" change, but was no less egregious than the revised Mos Eisley entrance.

I acknowledge that the change is a very small one, but it is not inconsequential; it completely flies in the face of a preservation effort when you make a change other than one to preserve the film, especially if that change is intended to alter the viewer's perception of the film.

I love Harmy's work and appreciate his hard work and incalculable contributions to the Star Wars preservation effort as much as the next person, but if this change makes it to the release version, this project can no longer be considered a preservation, unfortunately, and the topic should be moved to the Fan Edit section of the site.
