I’m not bothered… Got nothing to say to supposed original trilogy fans that like anything other than the uot

How open minded of you. God forbid someone actually like a movie based on its merits.

Indeed. What a textbook example of “No True Scotsman”.

Some people like TFA, some people don’t, both can be fans of the OT. Same as the PT. Crazy, I know.

A return to form for the franchise, full of fun characters and great action. I have no idea how anyone could possibly find any of the prequels superior to this.

I blame the filthy Millennials, who as we all know, don’t understand anything but anime.

No wonder they love the PT. Angsty emotional outbursts and everyone’s feelings are written all over their face.

Toss in a couple of those forehead X things and some huge sweat droplets and we’ve successfully made the PT an anime.

Someone is posting the first draft of the Jurassic Park script on Facebook!
Time

36-39

We meet more dinosaurs! Definitely following the book more. Dilophosaurus is the right size and on the tour, Triceratops is big and dumb. I kinda liked the no-show dinosaurs in the film, but I also would have liked to see more dinosaurs in the film. More banter about the park, things that weren’t in the book or film. We also meet the raptors and they attack the fence, which plays out similarly to the book, but with different people. It’s intriguing to see the draft keeping them secret from the main characters, and also to see that they’re planning on retiring them already!

Almost forty pages in and no Muldoon, though! I’m gutted! I hope he makes an appearance later.

Ranking the Star Wars films
Time
  1. Star Wars — Weaker than Empire in terms of story and depth, but totally self-contained and so much fun. I can just throw this on when I need a comfort film. 5/5 (in star Wars terms)
  2. The Empire Strikes Back — The strongest entry to date. In my world, definitely cinema’s strongest sequel. Expands the characters, sets up a big universe, introduces great new characters (My buddy Boba!) and locations, doesn’t take a dump on the romance, and has a whole new and deeper wonder to it than the first film. 5(.5?)/5
  3. Return of the Jedi — This is only so far up because of its place in the OT. The duel between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor save the film. The rest of it is rehashed or phoned-in. Feels like a contract film than the passion of Star Wars and Empire. 3/5
  4. The Force Awakens — Mostly interchangeable with Jedi. I’d definitely put it ahead of Jedi in terms of acting, writing, and fun, but Jedi edges it out because of its OT Status. Brought the magic and fun back, makes me grin like a giddy little boy. 3.5/5
  5. Revenge of the Sith — This is only as high as it is because of the potential of the basic story and the culmination of the story. It’s definitely the strongest of the PT, but it’s still weak. The gap between Jedi and Awakens is almost non-existant, the gap between Awakens and Sith is a good deal more than 12 parsecs. 3/5
  6. The Phantom Menace — I feel like this is the only PT film that has a Star Wars feel to it, because they used actual locations and props extensively. However, it’s also the only PT film that doesn’t really fit in the “Saga”. This is an Anthology film and nothing more. 3/5
  7. Attack of the Clones — This goes way down here because it’s frankly crap, especially when it should be one of the biggest and best films of the Saga. The Clone Wars we’ve heard so much about don’t start until the last quarter of the film, and then end in the next film. There was potential, and much like the entire PT, the basic story concepts are good but executed terribly. 2/5

The Holiday Special and the Clone Wars film I won’t count as The Holiday Special was TV-only, and the Clone Wars “film” was basically just two episodes of the show, one of which was one of the worst of the entire series and the other wasn’t particularly strong, there were arcs much more deserving of being in theaters than what was.

I still haven’t sat down and watched the Ewok films. I think that’s about it in terms of what’s out there.

As a self-reward for finishing my exams, I went ahead and watched the OT and TFA, which I haven’t done in ages. I must say it was a satisfying experience.

Star Wars (1977) - 9/10

Classic. It doesn’t have the best story or script in the world, but it does a great job at being a fun, sci-fi epic.

The Empire Strikes Back (1980) - 9/10

Excellent follow up which manages to be even better than the original. Very innovative and has great characters, all of which play off each other brilliantly.

Return of the Jedi (1983) - 7/10

While sadly not nearly as good as the first two, this film still manages to be a very fun film. I don’t like the fact that Harrison and Carrie utterly phoned it in, nor the clashing tone throughout.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) - 7/10

A return to form for the franchise, full of fun characters and great action. I have no idea how anyone could possibly find any of the prequels superior to this.

I agree pretty much word-for-word.

What is wrong with... <strong>Attack of the Clones</strong>? - a general discussion thread
Time

Yeah, he’s kinda just two-dimensional evil guy in The Clone Wars. They don’t really talk about his past or who his is or what his motivations are. They do have a couple episodes where they show Serenno for a bit (which is where his title is from), but that’s as far as it goes.

If anything, I’d say the AOTC version is more nuanced and intriguing. In The Clone Wars, he’s just about straight up evil Sith Lord.

Celebration Europe poster:

Hmm, why does all the conventions get all the cool classic-style posters while the theatres end up with those generic photoshops?

Marketing reasons, I’m sure. If nothing else, it’s cheaper to pay some intern to photoshop some promotional images together and bash out a poster in fifteen minutes than it is to pay someone like Drew Struzan and then have to wait for a few weeks.

I HIGHLY doubt “some intern” did the poster photoshop job for the most anticipated movie of all time (TFA). Lot of time was put into that.

Hyperbole. =P

I know it’s not just tossed to some unpaid intern, obviously. It’s just always more costly to hire an outside artisan to work their craft by hand.

Plus, people these days (i.e. filthy Millennials) expect posters to be what they are now.

Jeez, Millennials are trash. We live in a world with automatic dishwashers anyway, all I had to do when I had my cereal this morning was shove the bowl into the dishwasher and forget about it.

So much entitlement.

Er, you have to put soap in and push the button too.

Eventually.

Oh well FORGET THAT. Who wants to learn the value of doing your dishes?

Having good and bad days during the early stages of a new round of medicines is expected. I can say don’t worry about it, don’t worry about it (<see😉). You will worry but you don’t need to and knowing that might take the edge of it.

Don’t have the new meds yet. My prescribing doc called today and says she’ll check my chart and call back tomorrow about spiking up the dosage.

I apologise, when you talked about upping the dose I thought you had started taking the medication. Bear what I said in mind when you start the medication then. Your body will need to adjust to the change so you will probably continue to have changeable days.

This! Hang in there, keep seein’ that pro!
