Yeah, all CG Yoda in 2 and 3 loooked great. The puppet in V and VI looks terrible too. I wish one of the special editions CG’d him like that one teaser clip they showed sometime ago.

Welp, you just signed your own death warrant there. Sorry man.

EDIT: Just because I rarely get the chance to ask this kind of thing and before the rest of the forum descends upon you and destroys you… how old are you (you don’t have to answer if you’re not comfortable with it) and which films did you grow up with? And why do you feel like the Yoda puppet in the Original Trilogy looks bad? I think you’re unequivocally wrong, but I’d like to know why you feel the way you do.

Just to save you from watching TPM again, he was fully-digital, but what they did was a lot of early motion capture work and, like early versions of WIP Threepio, initially tested the suit with an actor inside before deciding on a fully digital performance.

Ahmed Best did the voice for all three films. Not sure about mocap for II and III though.

Episode III: Revenge of the Ridiculousness
Time

I feel like the dianoga/trash compacter scene has lots of good lines.

LEIA
Grab him!
Luke seems to be released by the thing.
LEIA
What happened?
LUKE
I don’t know, it just let go of me and disappeared…

LUKE
The walls are moving!
LEIA
Don’t just stand there. Try to brace it with something.

Also:
“I got a little cooked but I’m alright”
“Hang on back there!”
“Would it help if I got out and pushed?”
“The cave is collapsing!”

I’ll keep thinking.

The Place to Go for Emotional Support

It’s not really about talking you out of doing things as much as it is learning how to manage it and cope with the compulsions.

I think setting up a joint appointment with your current guy and the specialist together would be a good plan if you can set it up.

I know things look bleak right now, but you gotta fight. Your previous successes are still successes, even if your most recent experience of defeat seems to overshadow it.

Hey, you said you felt good for a week or two. That sounds like fantastic progress to me! Of course you’re going to have relapses, and at first, they’re going to happen fairly often, but if you keep at it, they’ll get further and further apart. Don’t give up! You’ve made progress, and that’s the important part.

Yeah, this is the truth right here. Progress will always come with some amount of backslide: you find a job, you get laid off. You find a girlfriend, you break up. It happens, but what matters is that you make the progress and realize that you’ve done it before and can do it again. You’re gonna have rough patches and relapses, but like Ric said, they’ll get further and further apart as you move forward.

You’re gonna be okay, and I know that because you’ve been okay before.

Actually, they didn’t plan it to necessarily be Leia. He, IIRC, was actually gonna find another jedi who we didn’t know. Otherwise, Lucas definitely has an incest fetish.

Wasn’t the initial plan to have another character introduced (and another storyline), but once the decision was made to wrap everything up in ROTJ, they sort of retconned it to be Leia?

Pretty much, yeah.

Hey Mike. Glad to hear from you again, but I’m sorry it’s under these circumstances.

I hate to be a further downer, but yeah… this sounds like a late-onset OCD thing. You can’t really “cure” things like this, but you can manage them. That doesn’t mean you can’t have quality-of-life: my brother went from being completely crippled by his OCD (to the point where he was in danger of dying) to now having gainful employment and a social life and all of that normal stuff. You’ve already got a job, and you’re at the age where you’re already fairly established in terms of who you are, so you’re ahead of him there.

You can do this. I know it seems like you can’t, but I know for a fact that you can. You know for a fact that you can manage this, and that you can feel better, and that you can live a normal life with everything going on, because you have been. You’re going to have to bust your ass, but you’ve already done that, and you’re already doing it as it is. I know you can do this, man.

You definitely need to keep up with your therapy, as well; even when you’re feeling good. If you haven’t looked into an OCD specialist yet, maybe now is the time.

I’m sorry you have to deal with this. It’s bullshit, I know. But hang in there dude. We’re pullin’ for you at OT.com.

Star Wars Battlefront EA
Time

I’ve played with friends (I honestly can’t even play singleplayer games anymore) and we all kinda came to the same conclusion about it after a couple of days. I only keep hanging on because there’s this massive Star Wars Video Game-shaped hole in my heart that I keep trying to fill, and Battlefront is just so damn gorgeous, and there really is fun to be had at its very core.

But it’s just missing so much.

Also, I’d be careful what you wish for. The recently-released Marvel Ultimate Alliance remasters were apparently done incredibly poorly and those games were amazingly fun. I can only keep my fingers crossed that Battlefront 2(2) is what Battlefront should have been. I really hate when companies are forced to rush stuff to coincide with another release date.

Just hopped in for a round to test my graphics card (been having issues with drivers recently in that my PC BSOD’s whenever I open Photoshop or Maya so I had to roll back, which causes performance issues with games).

Had a lot of fun, got to play Boba Fett versus Han Solo for some of it, which was great, but I can’t see myself playing much more than that, which makes me sad, because it looks amazing and is enjoyable at its core.

The second one better be a massive improvement.

Can we use up some of the crazy whitespace on larger displays?

I bumped up the default font size just a bit (to 14px). I might bump it up another pixel or two, which would put the font size at what it was previously.

For comparison’s sake:

http://originaltrilogy.com/announcement/Status-of-the-first-forum-update/id/47378/page/1

I doubt I’ll make the main container any wider. The only effect that will have is to make lines of text longer and less comfortable to read, and only for the sake of filling up a large display (the same argument made for open matte and cropped scope film transfers, which is no argument at all). We’re already many more characters per line than most typographers would recommend and I’m fighting the urge to tighten it up:

http://baymard.com/blog/line-length-readability

I might remove the dark background resulting in the sidebars, which would give the impression that the page is wider. It might be the bounding box that makes things feel squished.

I think the default font up has pretty much addressed it.

I do agree stretching the main container much wider than this wouldn’t really fit the format now that I’m thinking about it (and your analogy is good). I think maybe I was just reacting to the contrast between the background and the main content making it feel more claustrophobic than it was?

Either way, with the font a bit larger it’s definitely comfortable enough for me to zoom back out to default scaling, and I feel like it’s the perfect middle ground between the old style (too big) and the newer (too small), so I think we’re good on the font front at least.

You guys should really check out the original script to The Empire Strikes Back. It pretty much disproves the whole “planned out in advance” thing, and you can tell that they had planned for the story to go in a different direction. Most importantly the big twist is not there. It was a fun read though, I enjoyed it.

I’ve read that before and it really is fantastic. Really provides a lot of context for the screenplay we got.
