REVIEW: The Clone Wars TV series from 2008: surprisingly well done
Time

You forget how the Clone Wars took multiple seasons to improve graphically, in design and animation. Compare season 1 of the Clone Wars to an episode from the later seasons and it’s a vast improvement.

Similarly, Rebels is having to do the same. Their budget per episode is a fraction of what it was for Clone Wars and yet it’s improving far more quickly than the Clone Wars did.

I had my own quibbles with Sabine’s design but there’s really no denying that the show can be beautiful:

Animation and art design aside, what’s really important is story. Rebels hasn’t suffered the same pitfalls that Clone Wars did overkiddifying everything early on. They had a clear vision from the start of where they want to take the series and its been moving forward at a great pace. The second half of season two is promising to be quite the ride.

My two cents:

  1. DO NOT watch the movie. It is just plain AWFUL. The only thing you miss is the introduction of Ahsoka and that’s really not worth the rest of the hour and 36 minutes of pure sewage. And this is coming from a fan of the Holiday Special!

  2. I wouldn’t recommend the chronological order for anyone as their first run through of the series. Each season has its own momentum and progressively gets better and better with each.

The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS **
Time

Welp. I finally saw it a second time. I liked it the first time. I really liked it the second. This time I got to see it on a full three story high IMAX screen with newly upgraded dual projectors. At that size it’s almost like you’re in the movie. I saw so many little background characters and little details that I completely missed the first time.

There were of course still aspects of it that bothered me but for the most part I was able to just let it all go and enjoy the ride. Definitely deem it a worthy addition to the saga and here’s hoping VIII fills in the gaps.

Okay I have to say at least the artwork is a lot better in that book then it is in most comics I have seen from the 60s and 70s that were tie ins to TV shows or movies. In fact it looks like standard art work from decent comic at the time.

Well that’s a pretty unfair assessment of the era. There was a lot of good licensed comic art at the time:

The kindle editions have boring covers though.

It’s the same with everything else these days. No one wants to pay real artists anymore. 😦

Edit: I looked up the series original cover artist, Richard Hescox. He’s still active so it looks like there’s no real excuse for breaking tradition with the cover art.

O_o I would refute the notion that most movies use or elude to restrooms but I’d rather not waste my time coming up with examples.

Anyway, yes, they’re called refreshers in the Star Wars galaxy. The most memorable thing I recall about them in this context is that apparently on Coruscant dianogas have been known to snake their way up through the plumbing in people’s apartments. =|
