No I’m not. Sadly I don’t have a computer capable of playing modern video games anymore, so it’s only Duke Nukem and Doom for me when it comes to computer gaming, Haha! When I get a new machine I’ll be sure to join up though!

Well in the meantime, don’t forget that GOG is there to serve all of your retro gaming needs.

It’s pretty objective heavy in the beginning to familiarize the player with all of the various mechanics. Once you’ve cleared out your first area it opens up a bit more and you’re free to roam and tackle whatever you want outside of the story missions. I believe there’s a video capture mode you can use to disable the HUD. Oh and yeah the handling and everything else about your vehicle do improve with the various upgrades. Tires play a big part in that.

As for Firewatch, yeah it’s sadly become a modern trend of the genre. Multiple endings used to be standard but they’ve become the exception. I think it’s still an engaging experience and I expect this studio’s next game will expand and improve on a lot of the aspects that this one fell short on.

I haven’t played through it again myself but I have watched someone else’s playthrough. It’s interesting seeing what other people bring to and get out of the game.

Marvel has confirmed a new series is on the way:

This exciting new series is an adaptation of the beloved Marvel characters aimed squarely at young adults. This live-action interracial romance follows Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart—but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

I’ll never understand why they ever said that the novels are canon )unless its a misunderstanding and they meant the new-EU novels and NOT the movie adaptations). If they are then Owen is Obi-Wan’s brother and Padme married Bail Organa.

They gave the caveat that they’re canon in so far as only the parts that don’t contradict the prequels.

Here’s the official statement.

Mon Mothma is easy to explain.

The one that is/would be hard to explain is Biggs.

If that is Biggs then we do actually have a continuity problem on our hands. When Luke runs into him at Tosche Station he states his intentions of jumping ship and trying to join the Rebellion. He doesn’t supposedly join the Rebellion until sometime after that before Luke makes it to the Hidden Base.

Now, some will say that it’s a deleted scene and therefore doesn’t count. HOWEVER, it’s been officially stated that the novelizations of the films are canon and that scene is included in the novelization of Star Wars.

Theories?

Midnight Special (2016)

What to say about this film? It’s…competently made. Basically a pastiche of a number of past films.
Namely, D.A.R.Y.L., Starman, E.T. and an episode of The X-Files.

You can feel the influence of all these things throughout the film. Unfortunately, it never really does anything new or interesting with them. The performances throughout however are pretty solid. The standout being newcomer, Jaeden Lieberher. He does an excellent job with the role. I think he has a bright future ahead of him.

The biggest failing of the film is that you’re never really made to care about the characters. They’re never given any room to breath and so there’s no time to get to know them. As such you’re never really all that invested in their journey or in their success. A pity as with a little tinkering this could have been a memorable homage to a forgotten subgenre.

I’m on the fence about this. For safety’s sake, I’d be happy if Vader didn’t show up (they mucked up his character enough in the PT), but if it was handled well, it could be a cool inclusion.

Vader is a total BADASS in Rebels. He’s only shown up a couple times in the series. Each time was brief but incredibly memorable. If they treat him with the same kind of reverence, we have nothing to worry about.

OH MY GOODNESS!

That was AMAZING! Anyone that wasn’t excited by that is DEAD INSIDE.

Just…MAN. That was light years ahead of anything I could have hoped! I am unbelievably excited right now.

Okay, so, ever since we first got that cast photo last year. I kept thinking mustache man could possibly be Biggs. BUT, now that I’ve seen him in motion, something’s just tugging at me that he could be KYLE KATARN. If they did THAT my heart might explode.

My reasoning being, Kyle has always been tied pretty closely with the retrieval of the Death Star plans. I think his story was the first to depict it. Subsequently, a few years ago when they created a new game starring a female lead who then steals the plans, they also threw Kyle Katarn in the game so that he was still involved in some capacity. If they make Kyle Katarn canon, in a FILM no less, I would be the luckiest boy in the world!

Let’s just hope it’s not gonna be “dark and gritty” trend…

Hate to break it to you but that’s exactly what it is and that’s what excites me about it. Putting the War back in Star Wars.

Here’s a highlight video of everything we learned at the last Celebration.

Here’s the full panel.
