I expected to at least see someone wearing the darn thing.

Oh to be a fly on the wall…
We, the people who actually created Star Wars, the ORIGINAL 1977 Star Wars, are celebrating the 40th anniversary of its release. So, if your name is on the credits of Star Wars Trilogy: Star Wars 1977, Empire 1980 or Jedi 1983 Trilogy…(or you worked uncredited) then you are invited. Otherwise, we love you (truly) but this is going to be an intimate gathering of the folks who worked on just the original trilogy. Only individuals and their significant others who have a credit (or worked on film uncredited) on either Star Wars, Empire, or Jedi are invited to attend. Please help us spread the word to people you know who worked on these films.
The cynicism in here blows my mind. Just because you’ve given up doesn’t mean the rest of the world has.
Every single time I see the Original Trilogy brought up in public circles I’ll see at least one person proudly mention how they’ve gone out and ripped their old VHS tapes to DVD.
The demand is there and has always been there.
Speaking of Season Three. They just uncovered a new lost episode…
Digging up the Marrow (2014)
After seeing The Void I was reminded of a trailer for a film that I’d seen a couple years back that I missed catching at the time. Digging up the Marrow is a faux documentary about a man who claims he’s found evidence of a secret civilization of monsters beneath our own.
Ray Wise does a lot to give the film credibility but it doesn’t quite reach its potential. It feels like this was a side project for the writer/director/star Adam Green in between seasons of his television series. With a little more time and attention paid to this film it could have been something special. As it is, it’s a decent little film that praises the creature effects subculture.
This in-universe cooking show should give you an idea of the food diversity in the Star Wars galaxy.
They remastered TJ Hooker, I don’t know why MASH would be a problem.
I wish the more utilitarian uniforms and colour palette from “The Cage”/“Where No Man Has Gone Before” had been retained in TOS proper. I really don’t care for the garish Technicolor sets or those unprofessional-looking mini-dresses the ladies had to wear.

Or if the Wampa escaped and was shot down in London after mauling several people.
It wouldn’t have been the first time:

Aww, I liked Radioland Murders.
When the Star Wars land finally opens at Disneyland, I hope they do cool stuff like Johnny Depp in costume lurking on the Pirates Of The Caribbean ride.
Wait did he actually do that or are you just referring to the very eerily lifelike animatronic of him they added to the ride?
Is that from RotS or one of the animated shows?
That’s ROTS!

What a waste of a villain.
The Earth setting was holding them back, and I’m glad they’ve ditched Earth and Thor’s bland human friends.
What are you talking about, Darryl is awesome!
Like I said, I really wish I could find the audio of this. TFN had a page with four audio files broken up by the people being interviewed (Kershner, Hamill, Jim Ward, and the lowry guys). I don’t remember now how I found it, this was of course way back in September of '04.

THE VOID (2017)
Well this one just snuck up on me. Had never heard anything about it before I saw it listed playing at my local theater. Watched the trailer and knew I had to see it.
It’s an 80s horror throwback in the vein of THE THING or a Croenenberg film. I’d say about 99% of the effects were all done practically. Loved that. One of the actors looked alarmingly like Donald Pleasence.
The film itself is pretty good. It’s a tense ride and keeps you on your toes throughout. I’m very impressed with the directors Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie. I’ll be keeping my eye out for future releases from their production company Astron-6.
If you’re a fan of 80’s horror and or practical effects work you definitely don’t want to miss this one.
You could make arguments for her understanding droid not merely being a plot convenience but her understanding Wookiee certainly is.
She’s on a hot desert planet in the middle of nowhere. I doubt there’s a colony of Wookiees somewhere off screen on Jakku. There’s no reason whatsoever for her to have learned that.
I don’t really need to see Rey interacting with Wookies or even see one in the film to buy her being able to speak their language just like I don’t need to see Luke flying to buy him being able to fly in the Battle of Yavin. Just because STAR WARS has more lines in regards to Luke flying doesn’t dismiss the one line mentioned about Rey being able to understand that ‘thing’ in The Force Awakens.
In every iteration of the Star Wars galaxy that there’s been, Wookiees are a rare sight.
There are thousands of sentient species with millions of languages between them. Unless Rey’s last name turns out to be 3PO her knowing Shyriiwook is outlandish at best.
It’s like finding a girl raised in a junkyard in Manchester, England that can speak Karuk.
I know someone here posted an image from the twitter feed of the Last Jedi trailer composer, but I can’t find that anywhere. Does anyone know who composed that music?

Speaking of which, here’s a comparison between the TLJ teaser and some shots from TFA.
Here are Kathleen Kennedy’s latest statements on future films:
On when we’ll hear about the next spin-off:
I think we’re getting close. My hope would be sometime around the summer. I never want to predict the creative process because it is its own thing, so we’re in the midst of those discussions right now.
On what their plans are for the main saga films. Whether they’ll continue the adventures of Rey or take a break and start over in another era after IX:
It’s interesting you ask that, because I’m sure everybody would love for me to say, ’Oh yeah we’ve got this figured out for the next 20 years.’ No, we spend a lot of time talking, debating, watching, looking at what connects with ourselves, with the audience, all of that is a part of our decision-making. We’re asking those questions right now. We’ll make a decision soon.
On that note, it’s interesting that they got another composer for the teaser. I wonder when we’ll hear a piece from the actual score.
And is that John William’s score for this trailer?
Nope! The music for the teaser trailer was composed by Frederick Lloyd.
