Idea: 'Star Wars - Droids' animated tv series - preservation ideas
Time

Oh I'd love that. I have a few DVDs filled with the complete runs of Droids and Ewoks that I got before they were officially available. The quality isn't that great but at least they're as they were originally presented. I wasn't pleased with the edited together/down versions they eventually released. So a project that combines everything together for the best quality would be terrific! =D

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

I just recently saw an interview with Steve Sansweet from Chicago Comic-Con where he mentioned they're still working on an ULTIMATE STAR WARS blu-ray release with all the behind the scenes footage and all the deleted scenes and what have you. The disappointing thing he said though was basically, "yeah we already have the HD transfers." He also said that we should be seeing that come out, "within the next few years."

Someday, I'm want to make a splitscreen comparison of the whole movie. Not sure how I could do the straight-up rearranged scenes short of rearranging them on the original...

If it's a DVD comparison you could have two seperate audio channels for the viewer to switch between.

STAR WARS V8 - A Final Attempt (Released)
Time

I just hope this new release of Metropolis is played back at the correct speed. The last official release looked beautiful and they actually used the music written for the movie but they screwed up the playback speed and had it running fast. Which in turn had them running around looking goofy. As well as marring the score as they performed it in time to the footage.

Maybe next year, after ESB:R is finished, i may do a V2 of ANH:R with a few very minor changes with a commentary track.

The only thing I would suggest for a ANH:R 2 would be to remove the Trade Federation Droid head from the Jawa Sandcrawler. It was cute, but not really necessary. Also, it boggles the mind. We haven't seen the Seperatist army anywhere on Tatooine, and Jawas are not known for traveling off of Tattooine.

OK, I've been afraid to admit it, but I was thinking about writing a fan fic about that battle droid (OK, I started writing it). I'm thinking it was discarded by Jabba after buying a few dozen after the war, but they weren't very efficient. Don't want to spoil too much in case there's actually an interest and I feel like actually finishing a writing project (I'm not much of a writer, just an idea kinda guy).

It would be interesting to see how a battle droid would function without the remote assistance from a Trade Federation Ship. One would argue that Palpatine gave the order to have all of the Trade Federation droids shut down. Then again, he also gave the famous "Order 66" to the clone army to kill all the Jedi, and in the book "Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader" it was revealed that not every clone trooper followed that order.

That being said, I look forward to your fan fic about that battle droid head in Adywan's fan edit.

Fan fic should be fun, though true be told I never liked that battledroid in there. I think a pit droid would have been more appropriate, ah well.

Wow that sucks, you'd think because it was Harry Potter the opposite would be true and they'd throw heaps of money at you. Anyway, get some rest. I look forward to seeing some of your work on Alderaan. =)

So Ady, did you enjoy your break from ESB or are you still on it working on ROTJ? =)

Anyone know why they didn't just do a digital Yoda for TPM in the first place?

Anyway, this is the ESB:R thread so, um...The Empire Strikes Back is one of my favorite movies! There, I said it!

Because Jarjar Binks was the first realistic digital actor to be inserted in a live action setting. So they were spending all their time and money on him. If you recall there was a CG yoda at the very end of TPM and it looks horrible. And it has been confirmed that they completely replaced Yoda in TPM, it was either Rick McCallum or John Knoll who confirmed it along with the fact that a future release of TPM would include the change. I think it was in an article on the official site shortly after ROTS hit DVD.

George thought colours were symbolic so he tinted all of the films a different colour.

the colour mess of TPM had nothing to do with anything like this. It was just a bad transfer plain and simple. If you watch the featurettes and documentaries on TPM's dvd you can see that there is nothing wrong with the colouring in the clips shown in those, which are from an earlier transfer

Wow, that's sad. So the transfer that was used for the DVD is the same as the one used for the HD broacasts?

He was gonna make Indiana Jones 5's story be. Indiana Jones taking over Heny Sr.'s job as the old dad and make it Mutts adventure. But he changed his mind and is making one more. I am going to give it a chance knowing that the whole series of movies has a few hit and misses so maybe it will be good.

No. That was never his intention, that was just the big rumor that started when people found about Mutt. He's stated already that he'd never do an Indy movie starring Mutt as that wouldn't be an Indy movie at all.

Anyway, that new trench shot looks great Ady. The final release can't come quick enough. =)
