Looks like it was Star Tours after all: On the Set of Star Tours with C-3PO
Looks like it was Star Tours after all: On the Set of Star Tours with C-3PO
Sweet! =D
For those of you who feel he missed the point, his email is at the bottom of the article: joel@gizmodo.com. It might be a good idea to properly inform him so that the real issue might get some proper exposure.
I guess I get a seat at the cool table as well.
Basically he's re-edited Ian McDiarmid's 2004 dialogue to conform to the original 1980 while using ROTJ for the hologram. The only difference was instead of saying Luke Skywalker he says young Skywalker and that's because Ian never says Luke. That might be changing though if Ady can get the audio Jaitea found to sound right.
(Oh and I think Palps mouth might still be from '04)
Just saw this article and knew I had to share it with you guys. Thoughts?
Cynicism does no one any good. It's better to live with a little hope than to sink into despair.
Was any headway ever made with this?
I agree about Dark Horse but only for their 90's work, what they've put out this decade has been pretty great especially the last few years.
I was told by an employee there that was to be closed in november but looking around apparently it was closed September 7th.
I really like the Han Solo Adventures, as well as the Galaxy of Fear books. I also am barely reading the Thrawn trilogy for the first time. Still in the first book it's...alright I'm hoping it gets better.
And don't forget the time he snuck up and stabbed someone from behind like all of the sith have been doing since season 1.
Imma gonna concur with Frink, there was some actual acting put into the original voice. Whereas Temuera literally just phoned it in without trying.

Someone who does have the book, tell me how the seismic charges sound effect from the only cool scene in AOTC was made. I have always wanted to know.
Bad news... pg 236
When Attack of the Clones hit theaters, the seismic charge caused a similar reaction in audiences. Indeed, when lecturing, Burrtt is often asked about it and the twang of the explosion (which he prefers to keep a secret). "When I go out and meet fans, they always ask, 'What was that sound? That was so cool,'" says Wood, "But it's the absence of sound that really is what makes everybody like it."
Ohhhhh, I guess I'll never know. I bet it is more simple than we would think.
Personally to me it always sounded like an electric guitar. I'm always expecting to hear, "the boys are back in town!" Every time that sound goes off. =P
That summary is kinda crappy, it got the jist of it but mangled a few points.
As for the premiere of season 3, I thought it was great! Wish they had squeezed in Rookies between the two new eps but it was still great. It really shows that the series shines when the stories are told in three part arcs. Even retroactively like this one.
Anyway....yeah Star Tours is closing but the ride itself is still running until sometime in November I think. After that they'll do the real decommissioning and revamp the queue area and have a new ride in place. Actually I should say rides, as now Star Tours will have multiple destinations like it was originally supposed to have. Only downside is that this is a prequel to the original Star Tours and is set between ROTS and ANH. The ship will look basically the same, except it now has these brown/orange stripes on it and is now the Starspeeder 1000.

.....and the last time I watched it I had lost the insight.
Wait....you were able to sit through it more than once? :o
Yeah I'm wired differently than most. I've seen it quite a few times actually and find it entertaining in its own way. =P
Gotta say I'm definitely looking forward to both of these. =)
I've given it serious thought in the past. In fact a couple years ago I had a stroke of genius while watching it and had all these great ideas about ways to cut and rearrange some things but now I can't remember any of it and the last time I watched it I had lost the insight.
Great vintage interview that was just recently uncovered:
If it's sourced from the GOUT then how can you know? The whole question was whether the GOUT itself was missing something.
Now here's what I'm talking about with the missing shot:
So let's start off with the '04 SE, here we have Han saying I'll bet you have:

Then it quickly fades to this shot of the two of them:

But back in the GOUT right after Han says his line suddenly there's a bright flash:

Then it cuts to the Dummy Greedo right before he explodes:

So did the SE add a shot or was the GOUT censored? I personally would lean toward them censoring this shot because of that site I mentioned before that noted Han's bolt going over the table instead of through it. Thoughts?
Going back to the Han/Greedo scene. I was looking at the two on youtube and the gout is missing that shot but it's there for the SE. So did the SE add a shot (where they make Han dodge Greedo's blast) or is the gout missing something?
I still don't understand how they got Jabba's eye color wrong for the '04 release.
Now here's a question I've been wanting to ask, are we missing frames from the Han/Greedo scene? I remember way back there used to be a website that compared all the changes from the OUT with the then new '97 SE. For the Han/Greedo scene he pointed out how they messed up the compositing of Han's blaster bolt going through the table and was now going over it. But now when I watch that scene I don't see that shot anywhere at all!
The only reason they made Luke and Leia sister was to tie up the story into this one trilogy. Originally the "other" Yoda spoke about was supposed to be the star of episodes 7-9 but after ESB Lucas decided to just end it after ROTJ.
