I just watched the episode where Susan left. That was rather abrupt. He could have at least dumped her clothes before taking off. Now she has to face the post-apocalypse with only one shoe!

I imagine it was to forge a connection between Starship Troopers (the novel) and his own work as the two stories do contrast on the same subject matter.
That'll be interesting. The last Scifi novel I read was Starship Troopers and Ender's is next up.
Riddick (2013)
Now this was more like it! It's amazing how much they were able to do with their small budget. I've heard criticism and even know a couple of people who have decided not to see the film because they think it's basically a remake of Pitch Black. It's not that at all.
It's more of a detour on Riddick's quest that was started in Chronicles. Yes there are a horde of creatures that threaten everyone. But that doesn't come up until much later in the film. The film is primarily about Riddick and his journey of discovering if he's lost a step since winning an army.
I can understand how people came away with that misconception based on the trailers though. I was a bit bothered by the hamfisted manner in which they made sure they attained an R rating. That was their goal after hearing from the fans but I think they pushed it a bit too far. It's a fun ride though.

Is there more than one meaning? I'm pretty sure I've heard it in Monty Python, but it's one of those things that often sails over the heads of us Yanks. ;)
bug·ger [buhg-er, boog-]
noun
1. Informal. a fellow or lad (used affectionately or abusively): a cute little bugger.
2. Informal. any object or thing.
3. Often Vulgar. a sodomite.
4. Chiefly British Slang.
a. a despicable or contemptible person, especially a man.
b. an annoying or troublesome thing, situation, etc.
verb (used with object)
5. Often Vulgar. to sodomize.
6. Slang. damn: Bugger the cost—I want the best.
7. Chiefly British Slang. to trick, deceive, or take advantage of.
Verb phrases
8. bugger off, Chiefly British Slang. to depart; bug off.
9. bugger up, Chiefly British Slang. to ruin; spoil; botch.
I too was unaware of the other meaning of the word. Still doubt Card used it with malicious intent.

Even with these problems I don't regret buying the blus and I definitely WILL buy the whole show, and of course any other shows they release in HD
Pitch Black (2000)
New Riddick film is out this week so it was time for a refresher course. Really enjoyed this film. Vin Diesel was perfect for the role. One of the things I love about it is that it's bolts and nuts Scifi. No mystical powers anywhere to be seen just people, advanced technology and deadly alien creatures.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (2004)
An interesting short animated title created to bridge the gap between Pitch Black and Chronicles. Does a pretty good job of easing the more fantastical elements from Chronicles into the universe. Pretty enjoyable little ride overall.
The Chronicles of Riddick (2004)
MAN did I hate this film when it came out! It took the gritty scifi universe established in Pitch Black and filled it with a bunch of fantasy nonsense. Elemental ethereal races and an undeadish army. What is this crap!?!?!
This time around I opted to watch the director's cut which I had heard was vastly superior to the theatrical edition. I found the film to be pretty decent this go around with the only real weakness being the more fantastical elements that I despised. It'll be interesting to see the transition from the ending of this film into the scenario presented for the next.
Nice to see I got the ball rolling.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay (2004)
What with the new Riddick film coming out this week I decided to run through all of the other Riddick related material that has come before it. I started this game once a few years back but never got far with it. Always meant to go back but the site I had bought it from had gone under so I couldn't redownload it.
Unfortunately, it's no longer available from Steam either. Thankfully though GOG still has it and so I was able to finally escape. This was a really great game. Solid mechanics, good pacing, nice level design, excellent writing and a great cast.
I was surprised to find out the prison warden was none other than Howling Mad Murdock. He gave a solid understated performance but I think they missed a perfect opportunity to have him also portray some crazy prisoner.
I also think this would be a perfect game for someone to adapt for Oculus Rift support.
Up next is Assault on Dark Athena, let's see how that goes...

from what I hear the Jedi Knight series.
You need to stop what you're doing, go onto Steam and purchase the series. Right. Now.
Europa Report (2013)
Randomly decided to check my local art theater to see what was playing and was surprised to see this listed. I remember seeing the trailer a while back and looking forward to it. I'm sad that it was only given such a tiny limited release. It was only playing once a day at 4:30 there. The film was pretty enjoyable. Good suspense. It was strange to hear Sharlto Copley attempt an American accent. Also surprising to see Hutch from Fanboys in this.

I always thought Boba fett reached Bespin after the Falcon
Right as they arrive Threepio is blasted by a Stormtrooper. Meaning Vader and company beat them there. Vader wouldn't have any idea where they are if not for Fett.

Fascinating to see how the way we read lines has evolved. Had to struggle to comprehend dialogue in Casablanca due to accents and rapid delivery, and in Django Unchained it was hard to not understand anything.
I don't know how to respond to this but I feel like I should be offended somehow.
Yeah, I'm digging the new interpretation of the TMNT. And I love Leo's favorite show. =P
Fables #1
In preparation for Telltale's next upcoming release I decided to read up on the subject. Gone through the first 10 issues so far. It's...not bad. Nothing spectacular like some would have you believe.
Fantastic Four Issue #1
Got really into the Marvel Heroes game for a while and that got me to go back to the start of it all. Went back and read the original Captain America, the origin of the Fantastic Four, The Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron Man...etc. I really love Marvel's Silver Age comics.
Mmm, I always give a pass for new achievements through DLC. It gives them added value. Though I can see how that would be really annoying for achievement hunters.
Catwoman was included if you bought the game new. Every new copy came with a code to unlock her missions. As for Robin, it's a single player game and Robin was just an additional character to use in the bonus challenge mode. He wasn't ever playable in the single player campaign.
If you're willing to wait around 6 months you can always get all of the bonus downloadable content for the base price of the game when they release the Game of the Year editions. I originally rented both Arkham Asylum and City and then later on bought both of their GOTY releases and got everything included.
Day 1 DLC is a load of crap though. Anyway, we should probably let this thread return to its usual programming. =P
Peace and long life!
Yeah Microsoft has been doing a lot in the last few months to prop up their image after the XBOX ONE announcement fiasco.
But even before that they experimented with crazy sales this past winter and I scored Assassin's Creed II for insanely cheap. Then they up and gave it away free. Ah well.
There was also this: Microsoft hires the man who made Steam great, signals renewed interest in PC gaming
Personally, I'm still waiting for the prices to drop on the last two DLC releases for Mass Effect III. Even though the ending was the worst travesty in gaming history.

But when I discovered you had to pay a fee to take the game to 100% completion, I was absolutely disgusted. Like turning the page to the last chapter of a book and finding a white page with the words "F*ck you pay me" typed in middle.
I just looked into this. There are just a couple areas that can't be fast traveled to that can be hard to find. DLC doesn't count at all toward the percentage toward completion.
My Neighbor Totoro (1988)
After experiencing the utter devastation that is the Grave of the Fireflies over a year ago, I finally decided to return to Studio Ghibli. What a wonderfully enchanting film.
We should start an OT.com Steam group. =P

it had some of it's own original ideas mixed in....
Please list them.
*GASP*

They were toned down a little for STID. ST09 looks ridiculous.
It's going to drive me nuts not knowing what Ryan originally wrote...
