O_o As far as I'm aware, Chewbacca's disguise in SOTE was never used as an explanation for Chewie's appearance in ROTJ. I don't even see how it could have been given that they gave him a buzzcut:

Everything published before April 2014 is now labelled Legends. Going forward, everything new whether it be movie, comic, novel or game is a part of the official Star Wars continuity.
In the coming years as the new books that are considered canon come out they are going to be filled with references to old EU material thus canonizing those elements in this new continuity.
Pablo Hidalgo has been working with Lucasfilm for years. He's a huge EU geek just as Leland Chee is.
I really believe they felt they had to destroy the EU to save it. This new trilogy(The Children) would be impossible to retcon into the existing EU canon. Now that they've been handed the keys to the kingdom their plan is to build from the ashes the official continuity that they don't have to worry about being trampled on by the likes of Lucas as they now approve all content going forward.
Give it a couple years and I'm betting you'll see a majority of the important EU elements labeled canon.

First time I had ever heard of it was from fans. Wasn't until a few years had passed before Lucasfilm started to adopt it.

No one is denying that fact. Normally a 1080p transfer would easily trump one that was 720p. What you're missing is the fact that this particular transfer was so poorly done that rescaling it had little to no effect on the picture quality.
Foreign actors take on American accents for roles all the time. Sadly, most of the good talent that's out there these days is found outside of America.

It's more of a glass half-empty thing. No, it's not being written by Orci/Kurtzman and Lindelof, but on the other hand Abrams threw out Arndt's draft so he could completely re-write it. The fact that he's doing so with Kasdan's input is the glass half-full perspective.
Tossing out what most likely was a Lucas/Disney idea and bringing in Kasdan to help with a total rewrite is, to me at least, much more than half full. He's looking for guidance from someone who was very involved in the film largely considered the best of the series.
Again, this is Kennedy calling the shots. The Mouse Ears are watching from the sidelines. This new trilogy is based on an outline from Lucas and it was Lucas' idea to bring in Kasdan.

So this premiered today. Great set and creatures...but pretty bland overall. Until that last audition anyway. =P
It was a bit bizarre how much they'd turn the cheese up in parts. Especially with new characters. But I think the film worked as a whole.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
Once again the trailer for the film utilizes scenes ultimately cut from the final film. Odd habit. Great film. This was more like it. Spidey had a better sense of humor this go around and the world felt just a bit more comic booky.

The teaser for The Phantom Menace ended up in front of The Siege and A Bug's Life.
Interestingly...the teaser for Attack of the Clones ended up in front of Monsters, Inc. and then the teaser for Revenge of the Sith followed in front of The Incredibles.
I'm betting Avengers 2.

There's no evidence that he "mobilized" anyone. Did people from his site come here? Yes. Is the only explanation for that, that he made a call to action to come over here and show us what for? No. It's just as likely that he vented about it on twitter or wherever and they found their own way over here.
There were only maybe two antagonistic people from his camp. The rest came in here explaining why they're into WoW or asking why we can't get along. Meanwhile, C3PX kept trying to stir the pot and insulting everyone.
What it boils down to is this. Originaltrilogy.com is a community. Fanedit.org is a community. WoW is a community. People meet, bond, even marry thanks to that game. So of course there are going to be things like fansites and *gasp* even podcasts about this thing that millions of people have gotten a lot of satisfaction out of.
I've never spent a second of my life playing WoW but I can respect those that do.
