I thought the film was very fun. The way the story captured the original feel of the Transformers cartoon was great. Optimus Prime kicked ass once more.

If I had to pick out problems, I think that the human characters were in it a bit too much and that the CG wasn't as good as I was hoping. Still, considering what I went into the theater expecting, it was a good film.

Hmm, Optimus Prime was always my favorite Autobot until the Dinobots came along (and perhaps even afterwards). He was sort of like the ultimate hero for a kid to be a fan of. In fact, I don't really know anyone who didn't think Optimus Prime was fantastic in some way. Otherwise, if I remember correctly, I think I'd have to say that Soundwave was my favorite Transformer as a child. He had such a cool design and voice. I loved the way that bird Decepticon of his looked as well.

Ahh, I had missed that part about sci-fi. (I skimmed.) Vampires too, eh? Sci-fi and Vampires reminds me of Vampire Hunter D. (I love that old anime.) I think I'll definitely look into this book.

Looks good to me as far as trailers go. Will Smith is a good guy can be a good actor. Though to be honest I haven't watched any of the movies where he had a serious role.

Perfect book though? Why is it so good in your mind? Based on that trailer I'm assuming the story takes a sci-fi turn by the end?

I found his arguments rather intriguing until he stopped trying to argue for them. I generally dislike it when people start arguments based upon objectivity and then appeal to subjectivity as a way to avoid losing the arguments they start. Basically meant I wasted my time with him I guess. :\

Speaking of which, was there an actual terrorist "hit" in these recent incidents? I thought everything was "foiled." (I like it when officials and the news media use that word. Makes me think of a guy twiddling his long, black mustache, his face redly irate over his failure.)

Hmm, the irony of this conflict is certainly not subtle anymore.

I myself believe that how a man treats the actual people he personally comes into contact with is what determines his supposed "compassion" for others. Along those lines, a man who is charitable with his own wealth is far more virtuous than a man who would pretend to be charitable with wealth that does not belong to him. Perhaps these views make me a "vile, venom-filled snake" but I'm having quite a bit of trouble seeing how.

I don't believe that jumping to conclusions about strangers is ever a good thing. While it is certainly virtuous to stand against that which we understand as wrong (and I truly do commend ADM at this point), it is far more virtuous to first act with humility and treat others with respect until you can be more sure of their faults.

How ADM found it so easy to pass such extreme judgment on my morals in this thread (and the politics thread) is very confusing, I must admit. How he could then go on to whine about how I'm the one who supposedly targeted him for "character assassination" (on this forum) is completely beyond my comprehension however.

Maybe ADM is far more perceptive of bad behavior than I am and perhaps he was perfectly right to harass me from the very start like this, but I am forced to doubt that after the last few months of observing him. As I see things, I'm the kind of person who spends my life asking questions, challenging beliefs, and trying to be passionate (while not taking life too seriously). ADM on the other hand has shown himself to be the kind of person who prefers telling others how things are/should be and then either hates or fears having those statements be questioned. Even now that I know the type of person that ADM is (and I now see why he continually reacts so negatively toward me) I still don't see how the actual origin of my bad relationship with him could be anyone's fault but his. Sure, I've added plenty of wood to this fire myself (hehe), and I certainly don't claim I should be excused for that (as ADM surely would), but when it all comes down to it, I didn't start this, he did.

In the end now, I suppose that I should only feel sorry for ADM. He has a very negative view of the world in general and of the people he has disagreements with. The fact that he clearly doesn't see me as a fellow human being is perfectly illustrated in the way he expresses his paranoia about me:

Now, should I take it that he considers me to be some sort of a "fascist" out to purposely silence and suppress supposed "liberals" like himself? (I've always defined myself as a liberal.) This is strange since, as far as I can tell, I've always gone out of my way to emphasize ADM's point of view and to answer his different arguments point for point. Heck, I've always even taken his silliest and most personally-offensive arguments seriously by even giving them their due responses.

I guess just really don't understand what this is all about. I ask him a silly little question as a complete joke about Foley's attraction to teenage boys and suddenly I'm casting "deliberately inflammatory lies" at ADM in an effort to personally destroy him?!! What the hell?

Part of me wants to believe that this is all just a joke and that ADM doesn't seriously believe this nonsense, but I've yet to see any evidence backing that hope up. So, for now, I'm going to avoid him and hope that someday he learns to lighten up and be more optimistic about the world. I honestly hope his life goes well. :\

GT5 will be the best racing game ever and the 360's Gotham Racer is just as excllent. Pro Evo 7 on the PS3 will be stunning and Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros Brawl are wimpy titles that the Wii is just going to release which are poor in comparison to the great titles that the PS3 will be releasing. The Nintendo Wii is an embarassment of an console.


I'm embarrassed to see how worked up you get when criticizing the Wii. The system is selling great. (So is the DS.) Also, Nintendo's supposedly "wimpy" first-party titles are the best selling games over the last few months.

Everything about this film is just a train wreck--it looks like it was edited by a twelve year old who pirated a copy of Final Cut Pro, John Williams score recycles older music for haf the film, and the characters look like they are enjoying the film as much as audiences. Ugh. Every aspect of the film just has something fundamentally flawed with it; I'm not that picky a guy, but this film couldn't even match the standards of Godzilla or Terminator 3, both of which i enjoy as superficial summer flicks but unfortunately the prequels are supposed to be (and try to be) something more. Where the film does succeed is its intricate spiderweb of plots and themes that college fanboys uphold as proof of the underrated mastery of the film--but unfortnately any success is had at the expense of the foundation of the storytelling, namely character, plot and drama. Everything just seems dull and boring, and even the behind the scenes stuff makes me think that Lucas himself was bored by the material, and didn't know what to do with the second episode.

But Christopher Lee is pretty cool in the film. I wish i could say more but the more time goes on, and the more the superficial thrill of having a new Star Wars movie with cool special effects wears off, the more it becomes obvious that the film is a failure of magnificent proportions. Like I said, I don't mind the prequels, and TPM and ROTS don't share the fundamental weakness of AOTC (or I should say that they don't to such a severe degree) but Attack of the Clones really is a piece of shit. In my opinion.

The DVD is pretty good, not nearly as good as the TPM one but a tad better than the ROTS one.


I completely agree with everything you're saying here. I don't see any need to mention Christopher Lee since he did a good job, but he didn't really have much to do. Ewan McGregor is the actual star of the movie though. His scenes are watchable and he performs his horrible dialogue as well (if not even better) than Lee did.


Anyways, about people who think TPM is the worst, I'd question your perspective. If you approach the film as its own weird thing, and forget about what Star Wars is supposed to be, it is watchable in that lighthearted sense. It's a movie about sometimes using warfare to appose corrupt politics and evil. As bare-bones story ideas, the liberation of Tatooine works just as well as the destruction of the Death Star did in my estimation. The Death Star is simply a much more amazing concept, that's all.

Also, I can sympathize with those who think RotS is the worst prequel. It's so long and so disconnected . . . . It feels like I'm sitting in a boring history class without being taught any unifying contexts or perspectives. It's just a long series of historical events (with so many damn transition scenes!). Each event leads to the next of course, but not in any truly meaningful ways. This perspective often leads me to consider RotS as the worst film of the bunch. But, I focus on drama and acting more often than anything else, and I know it's far, far better than AotC in that sense, so it wins on that note for me.
