Then when one of then discovers you, you lie to them, knock them out when they turn their back on you in, and leave them bleeding in the jungle. Then in the end it all turns out it was one big misunderstanding and that the plan all along was to disable an island wide chemical weapon in order to prevent the possiblity of the others wiping everybody out with it. What was up with Daniel's "I don't think I can go through with this"? The whole thing was a really dumb fake out. Would have made more sense if they simply said that there is a chemical weapon they need to disable because that creepy Ben guy was psychotic enough that he might actually use it.

Agreed. And then Juliet acts as if it all made perfect sense. I can only hope that they were hiding something truly sinister, but I doubt it. This wouldn't be the first time this show has gone out of the realm of believability in order to try and trick the audience. The very beginning of this episode had a brilliantly performed trick by comparison, making us think that Juliet was the last of the oceanic six. All in all this was a good episode, but lame at points.

I don't remember saying anything about a joke or anything about it not being wrong, but I thank you for trying to make a constructive reply on at least some level I guess.

obviously not,you took the time to read everyones response and you added in.

My response was not about the life of the puppy but the overreactions I read on youtube.

Otherwise, FF, I agree with you that this guy is sick and I'd want nothing to do with him, and I don't like the idea of him being in the military, but I'm not sure that even removing him from the Marine Corps can be easily justified. He definitely deserves some kind of punishment and analysis, but everyone does bad things and all I'm trying to say is that taking the life of a puppy is not the worst crime that a person could commit. If you all disagree with me, I'm fine with that. I don't claim to have perfect ethics, but I do try to be precise and I do like to discuss things that I find curious.

Looks cool. I assume those are screenshots of a custom Super Mario game you've made? I've seen youtube videos of others. How are people going about making them? I'd assume it's mostly students of programming courses and such but I've never looked into it.

I don't mean to spoil the fun here, but I am a bit confused. Yeah, the guy's an asshole and I feel bad for that puppy . . . which was probably hurt horribly and now dead, but in the end it was just a puppy. Peta itself euthanizes many thousands of dogs (yes, even puppies) every year in the United States alone. For people to act as if this is a war crime and to seriously talk about torturing/killing this man over his cruel disrespect for the life of a single puppy is out of control if you ask me. I think his tarnishing of the Marine Corps is actually the worst thing he did here and I hope he gets punished for that, but as for the life of the puppy, I think our society is already too sensitive about that kind of thing for me to personally be motivated in any way. There are more important problems in the world for me.

I meant senile as "of or belonging to old age or aged persons."

Otherwise, I think Tetsuo liked using his powers too much. Even when he lost conscious control, I'm guessing the desires and fears of his psyche still perpetuated the process in an unconscious form. He basically wanted to be omnipotent. I don't think it was a thing like the dark side of the force or anything. I could be wrong as you say, but that makes more sense to me at the moment. Keep in mind I haven't seen the movie more than once. Though, I think I own it so perhaps I'll get it out and watch it again.

Long takes, subdued sound effects, scored with music more along the lines of the 'Anakin's Betrayal' cue.

That would have been nice.

I thought the senile children were old test subjects that were unable (or unwilling) to achieve the same ascension process (towards ultimate evolution) that Tetsuo (and Akira before him) had achieved. At the time I didn't quite understand why the maker of Akira wanted an ass like Tetsuo to become the creator of a new, big-banged reality, but I'd now guess that he was trying to comment that only someone as immature as Tetsuo would want to become "God." If so, I'd guess he has a view of evolution that defines it as the ambition of an insecure mind.

I assume Jack is feeling guilty about separating him from his mother then. (That could explain why he doesn't want to meet the kid.) And yet the child was supposed to be evil and isn't being raised by his good mother anymore. Perhaps Jack is afraid of the child's dark powers.

Hah. My friend and I were just joking about how this will all probably end with Jack and Hurley on a crazy mission to kidnap Locke's corpse (the last of the oceanic six to be revealed) and bring it back to the Island with them (where it can maybe live again like Jack's dad now does). John is too cool of a character to end up being dead.

I was assuming it was a numbers issue, but I haven't watched either trailer and you're probably right.

I think its just an instance of one of the trailers being from a later source where either more or less soldiers were digitally added as per the filmmakers request. But whatever the case--its not like E.T. Theres not "sanitising" or "cleaning up" because in both trailers there are scores of soldiers pointing guns at Indy and then firing at him later on.

Well, I would hope so. Though it would make sense that a particular trailer might remove certain "offensive" elements in order for it to be viewable in more places. In that case, and someone finds guns offensive to families, I have trouble understanding that.

I know, but the mysterious nature of the show combined with my scientific knowledge leads me to think up complicated theories until I stop myself.

I'll just stick to my alternate reality/time-line theory for the island and say that the extreme relativistic effects (if there are any) are just the result of space time going crazy where our space intersects that diverging space-time history.
