Those where all made by scratch using whatever I had around from the OT with the original logos on them as a reference, I can't even tell you what fonts I used unless I go experiment again in Photoshop, I have them all on PSD format somewhere, I'll try to find them.
They're still a little rough around the edges, since I was trying to match up the "S" in ROTS to the "J" in Jedi, but never found a good way to do it, and the "N" in the ROTJ logo wasn't changed in the others, because I didn't like the way it looked in some cases, so I left it alone.
Originally I was going to use the logos on the upper left on the back side of my custom DVD covers, and the "Episode" style on the bottom front just to blend OT style with the prequels, but have put the whole thing on hold.
I've tried many, many variations on all of these logos, and always tried to keep the consistant style to them all so they all match up, I don't know if you noticed, but in evey logo except ANH I made
the most important part of the title the largest while "the and "of the" are the smallest, ANH is obviously a little different looking because it's only three words long.
I'd love to see what some other people have come up with for all six logos.

Not that Kevin Smith isn't a respectable director, but he isn't the first person that comes to mind as ideal to take over the events between ROTS and ANH.
I don't really have anyone in mind other than Spielberg, but i'm sure he's a more than little occupied with his own projects, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the original OT production crew return, Kasdan, Kurtz, Hirsh...I don't know about Anthony Daniels, but maybe Mcdermid, Mayhew and Smits might be able to be convinced to do some episodes.
It's not very realistic, but it sure would be interesting to see the results...The funny part is a few episodes might end up being better than Episode I or II.

Some of these things are hard to call enhancements when they are probably rushed unfinshed works or oversighted errors in color, sound and FX.
I'm still at a loss for how these discs were released without someone spotting and correcting alot of obvious errors, despite a looming release date, more care should have taken to allow an appropriate amount of time needed instead of a "it's good enough" or I could give a rats ass approach, considering the OT needed to be remastered and effects touched up, it's inexcusable that the release wasn't better planned for by Lucas.
My guess is most of the errors have been noted and they will be corrected when the 6 movies are released, if not someone needs to be shot.

Yes and no, I'd rather see her death in ROTS rather than have her live beyond episode III and wonder how or why she died.
Lucas was kind of in a no win, because we all knew from the OT, she died somehow and the best possible senario for her death was probably at the hands of Anakin after he turned to the darkside. It's kind of hard to believe by itself she died because she was force choked, but if you add in the fact, Anakin who she loved was lost to the darkside, the Republic was no more and the Jedi had been hunted down and all but killed...it was written as symbolic as her no longer wanting to live. (I'm sure there's mythology reference in there some where.)
By the same token I almost wish Han Solo had died in sacrifice at the end of ROTJ (another redemption symbol), like Harrison and Kasdan had strongly suggested...As much as the like the scene with Leia revealing Luke was her brother at the end...I think It would have added more depth.

I'm still of the opinion that AOTC was worse than TPM.
I would have to agree, I remember walking out of the theatre after TPM, dissapointed about what I'd just seen, but thought there were some nice things about it to salvage.
After AOTC, I felt depressed it was so poor.

SPOILER
There are parts in the beginning and end of the film that visually will definately give you some nice fuzzy flashbacks to the OT.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

One of the things that irritated me about the film, is the look of the sets, they looked more like something out of one of the "Trek" TV series, just didn't look like SW to me.
As for the acting/dialogue, pacing and plot well that's another story...visually I never could get into it, and everthing else just added to the dislike.
I was hoping a good edit might improve things.

Aside from the fact it’s my least favorite film (so far) of the saga, I’ve heard some positive things about the Imax cut of AOTC, anyone else seen it?
I know Magfan made an edit, how does it compare?

Also I like the segment on the bonus disc where they show the Original crawl without "Episode IV or A New Hope attached to it" I remember hearing that someone had actually restored that original crawl to an edit...It would be a nice bonus feature or easter egg.

I'm taking a combination of original poster art and Prequel lettering for the front and spine, and the OT DVD release for the style of the back.
Just so you know...

I might see how the younger generation might stir up comparisons, between the two franchises, but it seems like apples and oranges to me.
I have nothing against LOTR, I think Jackson did a solid job on these movies, but I was completely disinterested and bored and actually started falling asleep a couple times.
Star Wars completely absorbed me, when I saw it in 77, any comparisons are a fan thing, Star Wars changed the way movies were made and the industry itself....a little different than a film adaptation of novels that use technology that Lucas helped set the standard for.

1. Casting Liam Neeson and Qui-Gon's character
2.The Soundtrack
3. Saber duels, in the desert and in the palace.
4. Outstanding CGI
5. Casting Ian McGregor as Obi-Wan, I can make the reach with him as a young Obi-Wan.
6. Palpatine/Sidious were handled well.
Didn't like:
1. Casting of Lloyd, too young for the part..basically alot wrong with the character, should have been more like a young James Dean, Amidala would have been uptight, but secretly attracted to Anakin's as a bad boy (mirrors Liea/Han in a way)...The age difference gives it a strange babysitter infatuation thing.
2. Anakin making 3PO, I'd flip it around and have the Queen own the protocol droid, and Anakin makes R2, makes more sense and mirrors the OT better (Leia 3PO, Luke R2).
3. Jar Jar or the Gungans, There were enough things going on at the end of the movie (Anakin and R2 blowing up the control ship, Amidala taking back the palace and the saber fight,Gungans and Jar Jar were never needed.
4.Trade Federation, Didn't like the look or sound of them, Would have preferred using Mandelore army for the invasion, Sidious would bribe the commander with a clone of his own (which becomes Boba Fett) and or a lot of clones of himself to command..Battle droid's also didn't appeal to me.
5. Yoda was a puppet not CGI which I liked, unfortunately he didn't look enough like the OT puppet (when you're already 800-900 years old, 30 or so yrs between episode I and IV isn't going to change his apperance that much).
6. Obi-Wan's character, I thought he should have been a stronger character, sent as Amidala's protector, a Jedi Knight and Yoda's apprentice, not Qui-Gon's who they should have turned into Anakin's father who left the Jedi order.
7. The Padawan hair style, the braid and samurai ponytail thing just irritates me, would have been sufficient to just give them a buzz cut.
8. Name selection: Padawan,Naboo, Shmi...Dooku, sounds like baby talk.
There are more good and bad things but these are the obvious ones, I'll think of some with Clones.

Tim, I'm interested, where can we/where did you download this font (hopefully for free!) for the Episode VI "Return of the Jedi" image? Its the font they used on the official movie posters for Ep 1 and Ep2.

I'm going to keep the majority of unaltered original scenes on the DVD (except for improvements in mattes, laser blast and saber effects), and edit useing the Difinitive Collection for scenes such as Greedo and Han..obviously there will be a drop in quality as soon as I insert the LD scenes into the edit, but some of these scenes are so short it might night be very noticable, some revisions can simply be overdubbed (Boba fett and new Vader dialogue), and some just cut, (Jabba scene in ANH).
So many are people are buying the set, I think it's a lost cause thinking boycotting it will make Lucas change his mind...The best bet is possibly a future definitive DVD set that will include the originals, or allow you to turn off or on the revisions...Don't get me wrong, I support the purists and fully support the originals being released.

When Yoda appeared on screen I remember thinking, there's that funny looking little troll guy that I saw a picture of in the program...And I was convinced that he was trying to help Luke find Yoda, picturing someone named Yoda as a Jedi like Obi-Wan but the name threw me.
Yoda was performed so well, I totally was lost in thinking that this was a real creature...And in a lot of ways I still feel that way when I watch it.
A brilliant creation..

Things are different nowdays, Lucas has hired people who simply are there to accomplish whatever Lucas dreams up, with as little opposition as possible...not only that, but CG has come far enough so that anything is possible, and I have the impression Lucas tries to hard to constantly be creating new standards for the industry.
I think George has an extremely creative imagination, but without technology or other creative minds to hold it in check..the results are telling.
