So lets assume, maybe Vader can still breathe, just not well with his fried lungs, but fast foreward to ROTJ...."Luke, help me take this mask off.....but you'll die".
The whole breathing thing is a pretty significant part of the Vader persona, it would have been nice to accurately portray the person going into the suit as not being able to breath on his own without his mask dontcha think?.
That little lack of detail to Vaders condition in ROTS seems like a pretty big contradiction.

There were alot of things in ANH back when I was 6 that I couldn't make out, I kept thinking it was called Star Burst or something..and in Leia's hologram message I thought she said "Dear old Kenobi" instead of "General Kenobi".

Just guessing here, but I'll bet a minimum of 50% of the time he passes over what we would view as obvious superior takes for inferior acted ones...not on purpose, I just think his taste in acting performance is as far from a perfectionist as Ed Wood is to Martin Scorsese..yet as you guys have said he'll turn around and put so much of his focus into what costumes, spaceship and CG Alien design.
For the OT, Lucas did a wonderful job of finding actors that had charisma and interacted so well with one another everyone seemed like a big family....I'm not sure what happened while casting for the prequels, but there are hardly any of those essential elements there...I never remember cringing in a theater when Han and Leia started having a conversation, but for Hayden and Portman's scenes I was praying half the time that it would just end before I sawed my left arm off.
Shooting everything out of sequence, directing from behind monitors, and having eveyone stand in a blue or green room trying to emote in imaginary environments to imaginary people aren't the most ideal conditions for any actor... add to that miscast actors and a poor screenplay, is it any wonder.

Both AOTC and ROTS used some of TPM's music, so maybe it is possible to reconstruct it. Furthermore I've got a rip from the AOTC-soundtrack taken from the rear channels of the DVD. It is called "Ultimate Edition", but of course it's not official and contains SFX in some parts. But maybe it's good enough to fill in the missing bits.
I assume that setting a DVD player to 2 channels on a 5.1 audio mix DVD will play the rear audio channels...I noticed that alot of 5.1 mixes place the soundtrack in the rear mixed in with a few FX, and dialogue echo...I haven't tried DVD Decrypter in IFO mode, but i'm guessing it will have the same or similar result.

I'm not really of fan of the deleted scenes, I think it tends to bog down the flow of the story in some cases, but the interesting one was Yoda landing on dagobah, I liked the part inserted with "are you ready?....yes." and "MTFBWY master".
I would have left out "will he finish what he begins?" and "finding him was the will of the force" because I found them too recognizable from ESB and TPM.
Again this is why I love seeing other peoples edits, there are always great ideas in these things that you never think of when doing your in own edit.
BTW I did a very similar edit in the Palpatine/ Anakin opera scene....replacing Midichlorians with Force, and using a repeated shot from behind them to cover up Palps wording Midichlorians.

Jedi: "The word 'Jedi' is said to have been adapted by George Lucas from 'jidaigeki' (Japanese for "period drama" movies about samurai), perhaps contaminated by association with the warrior's title "jed" found in the Barsoom books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, a series which Lucas considered adapting to film before his work on Star Wars."
Darth Vader: "Vader is the Dutch language word for "father"...Contrary to popular belief, the word "Darth" is neither a Dutch nor German word meaning "dark" (donker and dunkel, respectively). Also, Darth is often thought to be a combination of letters from the title 'Dark Lord of the Sith', but there is no basis in Star Wars canon for this. "Darth" may also be a portmanteau of "dark" and "death.....In 1977, the year the first Star Wars film was released, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope seemed to indicate that Darth was a name unique to Darth Vader. That is, Obi-Wan Kenobi says to Vader:
"You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine."
Luke: "In Latin, the name means "light" or the "bringer of light". In Nordic languages, the word "luke" translates as "hand" when not used as a proper name...Also, Luke can sometimes be a shorten version of the name Lucas."
Padme: The syllables Pad and me together are part of the Buddhist mantra om mani padme hum.
Palpatine / Sidious: "Palpatine's name resembles Constantine's, as well as the Palatine Hill in Rome—the seat of imperial government—and to that of Catiline, who led a (failed) attempt to overthrow the Roman Republic in the 1st Century BC....Palpatine's name also resembles that of Senator Palantine, a fictional character from the 1976 film Taxi Driver....His Sith name, "Darth Sidious," with its root name "Sidious" almost certainly comes from "Insidious," a word which with its connotations of "treacherous, cunning, and seductive" aptly summarizes his career as a Republic politician, who, unsuspected, rose to the pinnacle of power and exploited it."
Yoda: "Yoda" has been supposed to be etymologically derived from some ancient language - in this case possibly from the Sanskrit yoddha ("warrior") and/or the Hebrew yodea ("one who knows"). Yoda's character is believed by some to have been inspired by the title character in the 1975 Russian-Japanese film Dersu Uzala directed by Akira Kurosawa."
Chewbacca: "In naming Chewbacca, George Lucas is said to have borrowed the russian word (Sobaka), which means dog, to name this dog-like character. "
Count Dooku: "a name obviously derived from "tyrant" but particularly more at "tyrannous." The name Dooku is said to derive from the Japanese word "doku" (?), which means poison. However, "Count Dooku" could simply be a joking reference to "Count Dracula", whom Lee has depicted in many Hammer movies."
Anakin: "Lucas took the name "Anakin" from his friend and fellow film director, Ken Annakin."
Qui-Gon: ."The character's name is likely to have originated from the terms Qigong, which is a Chinese theraputive breathing technique, and jinn, desert-spirits in Islamic mythology."
Obi-Wan Kenobi: "Obi means, a sash worn with a kimono or with the uniforms used by practitioners of certain martial arts...Ken is also perception or understanding, one's range of vision, or sight. This particular term, of Scots origin, tends to be used often in religious circles. When one speaks of a "higher ken" often it is a reference to an omniscent deity or being."

Tim, did you use the cover art of the new OT box set as the source of that art? It looks brighter and sharper than the other fan-made covers of Tom Jung's poster art. Do you have this cover available for download somewhere?
It's from a scan of the 2006 poster calendar, I've cropped and adjusted some of the levels to my own taste...The image itself is now part of a PSD file (the DVD cover), when I'm finished I'll put the covers up at yousendit.com, then anyone who wants to crop it and use can do so.

I Edited the scenes so that Leia is the first baby born and named, after the Vader scene it cuts back to Padme, but she dies right after giving birth to Luke and never even names him...so the plothole is covered by the fact Leia is with Padme when she is alive for a short period, but dies when Luke is born so there is no connection/memory for Luke.

I wasn't really trying to do anything unusual with these covers i'm making, Classic and basic are what appeals to me, I'm happy just having the theatrical poster for the front, and a picture on the back that symbolizes the title of the move, I wasn't trying to be unique, just making it for myself to replace the current DVD covers, which I started making last year, and just now have gotten back to finishing.
By now i'm sure they look "generic" to most, but I just thought i'd share what I was doing anyway.

Even if the idea of an immaculate conception did exist in the Star Wars universe, in a more general sense, Anakin's conception certainly wasn't without some original sin -- he was created by Sith magic, which is about as sinful as you can get. So while the Immaculate Conception theory had some small hope of life before 2005, RotS blew it out of the water. The idea should be discarded like the nonsensical speculation it was.

I make no concession over this topic, I simply understand the term is being used as reference, and understand it as a loose reference....so fucking what?
God=Force Mary=Shmi Jesus=Anakin, nobody said anything about it making complete literal sense, obviously Anakin isn't literally modeled after Jesus, and Star Wars characters aren't literally decended from humans...and Midichlorians aren't literally a Judeo Christian God....
If you're religious, I suppose you might be offended with this tag, placed on a Star Wars character, however i'm not, and I'd say you're putting way too much into this....
I haven't read the ROTS novel so I really don't know if Palpatine is telling the truth about Plaguis creating life, and if he was telling the truth, it would be assuming things to say he created Anakin ....I'd say the dialogue was placed in there to add impact to the tale that he could cheat death and extend it.

That's what I assumed, Hamill would make a "cameo" as some alien, he probably could get away with being a rebel or Imperial in costume or something of that nature...on the order of what Burtt, Lucas, McCallum and others did in the prequels....I'll try to find the article again.
BTW Mark does a pretty good Yoda impersonation.

There's no evidence one way or the other that Anakin's conception was immaculate, or that the phrase even has any meaning in the Star Wars universe.
There's no evidence?
"SHMI
There was no father... I carried him, I gave him birth... I can't explain what happened. Can you help him?"
Implying that Anakin was concieved through the Force, with the destiny of "The Chosen One". this metaphorically refers to the biblical "Immaculate Conception" is this the first time you've heard Anakin's birth referred to as that?
and because his mother was killed by Sandpeople, he is quick to turn into a child serial killer for the chance of saving his wife
Serial killers kill for personal satisfaction and have a waiting period between kills. That doesn't describe Anakin. If you want to characterize his kills as murder, he's a mass murderer. Even that's not entirely accurate, as he was taking orders from the legitimate head of the Republic and Jedi have never been shy about performing extrajudicial executions -- the killings were probably quite legally defensible. It's hard to tell for sure, but given the way the Jedi hack-and-slash anyone they choose, they probably have de jure broad authority to use force in the accomplishment of their missions.

I don't think it really matters if I classified Anakin killing Children and others as him being a cerial killer or mass murder, I know what the difference is, it's pretty obvious what the point was..

The sad fact is I think it actually think it took more effort to fuck up the prequels, than to just being faithful and following the bits and pieces of backstory that already existed in the OT....instead there was some ungodly need to turn every bit of information into a deformed mutation of itself, with and even more bizarre explanation behind it.
Case and point:
It wasn't enough to have Anakin born on Tatooine and have a senario where he was inspired to go on some idealistic crusade (clone wars) with Kenobi...instead we have a plot where Anakin is turned into a 9 year old immaculate concepted slave boy with a high midichlorian count, who by chance creates 3PO in his spare time.. Obi-Wan never discovers him, and only trains Anakin in the first place because of an oath to his dying master, after Anakin is trained as a Jedi he falls in love with a human wardrobe malfunction called a Padme' and ingages in romatic dialogue that makes a Harrlequin novel look like romeo and Juliet, because of this love for Padme, and because his mother was killed by Sandpeople, he is quick to turn into a child serial killer for the chance of saving his wife, who by the way dies from the lost will to live after popping out twins...Kenobi then delivers baby Luke to a couple he's never met before, and rides off on an eeopie....
Lucas has fallen so far from his raw creative genius it's not even funny... For every prequel that was made, every new SE and every spinoff TV show, it further mocks, dismantles and blackmarks what were once three great films.....I have absolutely no faith in the TV show whatsoever, because Lucas is involved.....If some guys like Kirsh, Kasdan and Kurtz and even Hamill (who gets it BTW) were involved, I'd have some faith in a spinoff.......Kevin Smith , Lucas and McCallum don't do it for me.... asshats.

I have some poor copies of both a Turkish Star Wars (was there more than one?) and Turkish Star Trek...I haven't watched them in years, but I can clearly recall that the Turkish Star Trek is far more disturbing. (it reminds me of a serious STL Star Trek skit).
On a side note, I also have a what I think is a Mexican Batman and Robin TV Movie....whoever played the Joker in that had some serious issues.
I'll have to dig this stuff out again...

I like Ackbar, and some of those aliens but their so damn floppy and rubbery...I remember thinking back in 83' that half those muppets really took away from the movie....And I always wondered why Lobot wasn't in the Falcon cockpit with Lando. (If han would have had a black Lobot, "Blobot" there would have been an uproar)
Lucas could have balanced it out with a nice sadistic mature ending, like the Death Star exploding,
part of it falls to Endor and lands on the entire tribe of Ewoks....and for the SE another chunk flies across the galaxy and smashes into the Gungans standing on the Naboo buildings...(and no i'm not serious).
