DVD Ripping and Editing with Surround Sound - HELP ME!
Time

yes, Vegas has the ability for multi-track audio editing, and can render a 5.1 audio.  to decode the AC3 into 6 mono wavs, there are a variety of applications, but a feww solution is BeSweet.

I use Vegas to edit and my process is generally:

- DVDFab HD Decryptor to copy DVD to HDD (without region coding, etc)

- gordianknot to convert to avi

- virtualdub & VFAPI to frameserve to Sony Vegas

-frameserve (via demugmode) from Vegas to CCE to render final video

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>
Time

also, there have been some ddos attacks on our service provider for fanedit.org.  The site has been running fine, but the last couple days have been hell because of some IP issues.  Hopefully this will all get worked out asap.  Sorry about the downtime.  We're trying to get the site to run as best as possible.

The Official babyhum Release Thread
Time

There is no artwork like that for the whole series, that I know of.  I did make alternate cases for the series, and a couple were double cases, and I believe one triple case (the UK premieres)  All of those cover arts are available at www.fanedit.org and here: http://www.avpsgallery.fanedit.org/thumbnails.php?album=7

You'll need to register to avpsgallery to access all the covers, but all of babyhums stuff (official covers, and alternates) is on that page.

X-Files Exordium (Released)
Time

The RS links are posted on fanedit.org. There is a popup window with the RS links at the bottom of the page for this edit.  Also, they are listed in the forum topic there too.  (PM me though if you can't get them) Additionally, this has just been torrented.  Its on Demonoid and Mininova.  As for a PIF chain, FE forum member Molasar was planning on starting one, so you can check with him there.  If you can't reach him, let me know, we can work something out.

There seems to be some interest in this, which is really nice.  I plan on continuing with these edits, though I doubt it will be chronologically, and it will probably take some time.  I am thinking probably one per season for now.  Towards the end of the series there were many more mythology episodes that were tied to the main plot.  So there could be more than one edit for those seasons.  I've got a few other projects I am working on now, but I am hoping to start on the next X-Files edit at the start of the new year.

X-Files Exordium (Released)
Time

Over a year ago, I started the idea (over at fanedit.org) of making the X-Files mythology episodes into feature length films to support FIGHT THE FUTURE (project idea here). Well, after a year of work on this, the first movie is done. This is about the start of the X-Files. I made this into widescreen to give it more of a theatrical feel, so I’ve individually reframed almost every shot to accomplish this. 5 episodes were included this. I’ve also included a variety of external audio sources, including additional score, music, and sound effects. More edits are likely to follow in the future.

New Runtime:</span> 127 minutes
Episodes Included: pilot, Deep Throat, Fallen Angel, Tooms, The Erlenmeyer Flask

Cuts removed/added/extended :

  • added THX style FAN logo intro
  • added Fox Fanfare intro
  • added intro credits
  • reframed from 4:3 fullscreen to 1.85:1 (16×9) widescreen
  • cut Scully walking into FBI headquarters
  • cut airplane scene
  • cut some dialogue in car referencing medical examiner as possible suspect
  • cut “I’m wired” line by Mulder
  • removed some commercial fades
  • cut confrontation at cemetery
  • cut discussion of “father knowing about sons involvement in abductions” with Tracy at diner
  • cut father/son reunion
  • added Smoking Man in warehouse over dialogue from Mulder to phone conversation to heighten tension and aid transition
  • cut credits to pilot
  • cut theme intro to ‘Deep Throat’ episode
  • integrated intro to ‘Fallen Angel’ before Mulder & Scully pnone call and intro of ‘Deep Throat’
  • removed reference to crash happening in Wisconsin
  • some panning and reframing to Mulder meeting Scully in bar - to remove episode credits
  • lots of cropping/panning/editing to Mulder & Scully case discussion in bar - to remove episode credits
  • cut crazy fly-fisherman
  • added some nature sound effects & score over some cuts during Scully talking outside to smooth audio transition
  • cut waitresses line “Quiet like a hummingbird” - This makes no sense. Hummingbirds are VERY vocal.
  • cut kids from film. While they were good characters, they really served no purpose for this edit
  • completely rebuilt audio with score and sound effects for night helocopter chase to accomodate loss of kids
  • removed more obnoxious commercial fades
  • cut reference to kids in hotel conversation
  • cut kids leading mulder through fence. Mulder is not guided. He explores on his own.
  • did I mention about removing commercial fades???
  • had to cut some dialogue of Scully holding agent at gunpoint to remove kids from scene
  • reworked end of Deep Throat (meeting between Mulder & Deep Throat at track) a bit
  • trimmed some of Mulder’s dialogue from final meeting with Deep Throat (from Deep Throat episode).
  • cut credits to ‘Deep Throat’
  • cut intro credits to ‘Erlenmeyer Flask’
  • lots of reframing to remove credits
  • cut all local police scenes, and the search for the missing suspect
  • cut actual murder scene of Dr. Berube
  • arrgggggg, begone ye worthless commercial fades
  • removed corny dialogue between Scully & Mulder about trust and faith.
  • removed reference to Deep Throat meeting Scully before
  • cut final phone call between Mulder & Scully. There is no talk now of shutting down the X-Files. It would have been way too soon to all happen (opening & closing) in 1 movie.
  • removed end credits to Erlenmeyer Flask
  • custom end credits
  • many many more little cuts that aren’t listed. I probably forgot a lot :)

Idea &amp; Help Wanted: Star Wars Dark Empire: The Movie

As for other casted SW radio dramas, there is a short one called "Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell". It is written by the same guy who did the SW radio dramas, Brian Daley. He also wrote the Han Solo books. This story takes place between SW and TESB, and is suppose to be the mission Han is referring to when he mentions "the bounty hunter we ran into back on Ord Mantell" at the beginning of Empire Strikes Back.

This one was not all that well written or preformed. It is pretty juvenile, and obviously aimed at a younger audience. It originally came on a 7'' record, and was published in 1983, not sure if it was ever republished on any other media.

This one was actually made available free for download at starwars.com (within the last year or so), so its probably still up somewhere.  I'll try to find the links.

Hey guys!

I just downloaded InfoDroid's Unholy edit off fanedit.org, but the files aren't unpacking properly. When WinRAR or 7-Zip gets to VTS_01_1.VOB, I get a CRC error that the password is wrong.

I tried "Keep broken files" and that didn't work either.

Any help here?

One of your files is probably corrupt (or multiple).  I uploaded these, the files are fine.  I've uploaded an md5 checksum file.  Use that (with a program like hkSFV) to check your rar files.  It will tell you which one(s) are corrupt.

Info Wanted: AMC DVD_TV - The Terminator, True Lies, etc. (with Animated Anecdotes)
Time

well, if thats the case, it could probably just be added as a subtitle track, so you wouldnt actually have to re-render the video.  no loss in quality whatsoever.  Any chance of a screen shot for ANY AMC DVD on TV segment?  it would be good to see how it was done.  I really havent seen any of these, but they should be really interesting.  ESPECIALLY for terminator.

Idea: edits for Mummy 3 - and The X Files 2
Time

x-files 2 could be cool as episodes.  I personally liked the film.  I think the biggest problem with it was the score.  Usually I like Mark Snow's music, but I thought he sucked for this film.  Several of the cues didnt seem to match the feel of the movie at all.  I had some ideas for an edit that I'll probably get to next year.  mostly just replacing the score, and recutting a few things.

Idea &amp; Help Wanted: Star Wars Dark Empire: The Movie
Time

This is such a cool idea.  I really liked the transformer videos.  Would be cool to do something similar with Shadows.  Its such a great story, it would make for a really awesome video.  I dont know much about making videos out of images like this.  I assume you will need after effects or something similar to get a lot of this animation.

just to throw out another video for some ideas.  http://youtube.com/watch?v=hn6cqY7CL2c  This is based on a graphic novel for the band Coheed & Cambria.  Mostly just images moving around, but there is some stretching of the faces to appear like they are animated more.
